THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Taking Care of Business at MetLife
Buddo replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As ever, thanks for the write up. Good observations about the young guys. Knox in particular showed up - in both columns, but the good far outweighed the bad. Some terrific blocking by him, and he got on the end of the best throw of the game by Allen. Ford is still a work in progress, but attitude wise, I think he's got what it takes. Johnson is going to become a steal on the edge. He was all over Eli on one play. Singletary is going to be a minor star, I just hope if he is injured, they are very sensible about bringing him back. The kid has a long career ahead of him, and shouldn't be rushed back. W can always find someone else to add to the mix in the meantime, to back up Gore and Yeldon. Just about every rookie has contributed somewhere in the first two games, which is impressive both from a drafting standpoint, and a coaching one. A quick shout out for the play of Siran Neal, both on STs and when on D. Kid really stepped up. Allen is still growing, and the good news is there's plenty of room or him to do so - that isn't a criticism, but an observation based upon just how special his athleticism and arm are. When he gets the timing down on the deep ball, he is going to crucify people, with Brown. I suspect adrenaline was the problem when he missed him deep, but by how much he overthrew him, was rather extraordinary, as Brown has him some wheels. Allen obviously gets it, but he needs to keep working. There will be times when it's a few steps forward, and one back, the secret will be to have a much greater number of steps forward, before the hiccup. While there are plenty more things that could be discussed, one thing I felt watching the team, was that they were a team. Guys from every side were congratulating each other on a play made - it was both good to see, and a good sign for the future. A 2-0 start to the season is not to be sneezed at, no matter who you are playing, and certainly not on the road. Bigger tests are around the corner, but I feel good about this team being competitive in all of them. -
There were a couple of awesome throws in amongst a very professional performance, where whenever he played a bit of ‘hero ball’, he hit his target. The throw on the move to Knox, was as good as anything else we will see this weekend. ? No less than an A- for me. He also was largely very sensible with the football

Cody Ford personal foul defending Allen
Buddo replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last week Feliciano, this week Ford. I’d rather we avoided the penalties, but messages need to be sent. Do not mess with our team. In a couple of weeks time, I’m sure that will be tested again, and I’ll take the penalties again, because it needs to be done. The Cheats aren’t to be allowed to bully this team, both now, and in the future. Rest assured, Belichick will get the message. Other teams will have already taken note, and will probably be much less inclined to ‘try it on’. -
They did know, but Marv wouldn't let him play on Offense much, to keep him fresh for STs. Kelly was always asking Marv to let Tasker play more on Offense. When it did happen, even then it was largely due to injuries.

By the sounds of it, Fitzpatrick can play multiple roles. Yet wants to settle at one, so he can perform to his best. It's not unreasonable, tbh. While it's highly unlikely the Fins would trade him in the division, a 2nd rounder sounds darn good value. Thing is, with his versatility, I think you could keep him at corner to start with, but we are going to need to replace Hyde within a few years, and he could be ideal to shift to that spot. I don't think he would have a problem with that, (he would be being used in one position, until you made the change one off-season) and as a career path as well, has some value in respect of keeping him in the NFL for longer. If I was Beane, I'd be making that call. Assuming the Bills had a good grade on him that is.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Winning the Fourth Quarter
Buddo replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the link - Morse was impressive getting way out to the sideline in front, on one of those runs. You were right too, mostly good holes opened up where they were supposed to be, although I thought on one run, it was Singletary's awareness to go against the flow, and bounce outside, that got the yards. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Winning the Fourth Quarter

I think there are two aspects of the press 'emphasizing' (might be an excessive description) about Mosley going down. Firstly, he had the highlight plays of a pick 6 and fumble recovery in the first half. Tbh, while you do have to be around the football for that stuff to happen, it could have been a.n.other defender, Mosley was in the right place at the right time. He had no part in either of the things that caused the ball to become available. He also was a big FA signing for the Jest, so there's a bit more of a focus on what he does. Secondly, and I think what was important, is that although I didn't think he was playing 'lights out', for all the gaudy stats for the pick 6 and fumble recovery, what he was, was the organizer in chief, of the Jest D. When he went off, all of a sudden, it seemed like guys became unsure of what they should be doing. I think Daboll deserves some credit for attacking the edges with runs, but it did seem like the Jest D simply lost their on-field communnicator when Mosley went off. Personally, I think the Bills would have still come through, but it might have been a touch more difficult. -
Bills at the Jets 9/8 First Half Thread

Tbh, with the amount of turnovers we've given up, we have no right being just 6 points down atm. -

Look the better team all over atm, yet silly mistakes are hurting us. Go figure. -
It might be worth trying to see if you can get a free trial for at least one of the games.

How many times do you guys think the refs screw us?
Buddo replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every day of the week, and twice on Sundays. ;( Mind you, they have been generally so bad over the last few years, that the same probably applies to every other team as well. -
No great surprise really. While Belichik might glean a nugget or two from Bodine, I don't think that truly was the object of the exercise. I think it was a reaction to losing Andrews, that meant they were in need of finding an adequate starter in a hurry, and gave us the pick to ensure they could look at him. Neither Bengals fans, nor ourselves, have been very impressed with Bodine, so it comes as little surprise that BB wouldn't be either. He might know a bit more than we do, methinks.

Michael Robinson on GMFB bold prediction (Bills)
Buddo replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me, I'd suspend Brown now for the first game. By all accounts that voids his guarantees. It's then up to him if he wants to show up to earn his paychecks, or not. If he's even remotely a douche about it, you cut him for next to no cost. While there will certainly still be a team out there somewhere who would take a chance on him, it won't be for the money the Raiders were offering, and it won't be for any sort of guarantees that aren't related to behaviour and games played. -
About the Back to Back Meadowland Games...
Buddo replied to StHustle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With the new practise facilities, especially the medical side of things, I would expect the best case scenario, to be back home, from just about anywhere. -
I quite like McCloud, but McKenzie just always seemed to manage to do a bit better. At least he's gone somewhere where they have some familiarity with him.
-
Good luck to him. Yes a down year last season, but overall he played pretty well and was fun to watch. He also bought in after being unexpectedly traded, which even with the new contract, wasn’t a given. Nice that he gets to rejoin Reid also.

Pro Football Network: Bills one of teams in on Clowney trade
Buddo replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not so sure that that is an option tbh. Teams might be able to make verbal agreements about not tagging someone a second time, but I don't think the general franchise tag contracts allow for it - although it's quite possible I'm wrong. In other words, I don't think you can add any 'conditions' into a franchise tag contract. It's also quite obvious that until any designation dispute is settled, no-one should expect a tag to be signed, especially when the designation is between OLB and DE, with a couple of million difference. -
Your Opinions on the Gameday Opinions threads
Buddo replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like 'em generally, but didn't realise just how many options there were as regards opinions. Maybe just keep it to O/D/STs/Coaching, and perhaps officiating. -
Punting is still an issue, and simply not good enough. One punter is injured, and he might be the better of two poor choices. Bojo is a bozo, and sadly for him, should be cut asap. There are obviously guys out there who are at least going to be consistent, even if they don't have the biggest leg.If you know where the football is going to end up, you can scheme for it - even if it isn't as far up the field as you may like. When it goes all over the place, the rest of the ST is on a hiding to nothing.
-
It was, as he was hardly touched, but the point is, the defender quite clearly didn't have to do it. While 'afters' has been part of the NFL (and most other contact sports) seemingly forever, there's really no reason for this sort of stuff to happen if the officials are doing their job properly. It's also true to say that Allen got hit a lot harder, and more often last season, and under the same sorts of circumstances. Hopefully he will continue to get the sort of protection he got last night from the officicials. I wouldn't necessarily bank on that though, as you can be sure the zebras knew they were on national tv, and had to be shown to be doing their job.

If that's the case, then whoever is answering the question, should make the reply their exclusive property. And then let someone else other than the original questioner, have the exclusive to the answer. The media/press record everything anyway, so it isn't as though they don't know who asked what.

NFL Game Pass: What exactly is the problem?
Buddo replied to The Bills Blog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have you checked to see how many devices you are allowed to be connected to at once? Also, these days a lot of device recognition, is done in some fashion at a 'hardware' level, and will have given devices registered with something, that 'allows' them access. I doubt you will be able to find such a list through gamepass itself, but you might want to contact them and try and find out if they have one, and if so if it lists the devices you want gamepass displayed through. Fwiw, I've found that watching through XBox gives me the best experience of reliability etc. as it's not trying to do anything else in the background. Note - I'm in the UK, so don't have necessarily the same version of gamepass- which could be a deal breaker of itself. -
Which WR Will Lead The Bills In Receiving Yards?
Buddo replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brown. Mainly due to being able to pick up large lumps in one go. Foster is still learning to become Brown, and early signs are that Allen has been able to find Brown without too much difficulty. I actually think it can only be either Brown or Foster, when you are talking about yards - either of them will get plenty of opportunities to grab big chunks. Fitness (or availability) will also play into it. If you are talking just receptions, then for the development we wish to see from Allen, you would want to see Beasley as the top man.(as others have already said) That should kill off all of the 'can't pass short' negativity.
