  1. I think if he understands it as part of a gameplan, he will be disciplined enough to stick with it. I also think that some of the things Daboll has done with him in different games, are leading to getting him to play with that discipline. We may be 'pass first', but we haven't necessarily been exclusively so, and a couple of the games played this season, we've almost been deliberately 'dinking and dunking'. First 'Fins game springs to mind as a possible example.
  2. Against us the first time, they didn't so much dink and dunk, as ran the football on those long drives. Mahomes was being more 'sensible' in taking small gains, but a lot of what they did was based off of the run game that time. I think it's a decent set of observations, and tbh, both Mahomes and Allen would have the same default mindset - i.e. go for the bigger gain. Josh has certainly reined that in a lot, especially since that KC game. Heaven forbid the game becomes a 'dink and dunk' fest, but if it does, I think Allen will show a bit more patience with it than Mahomes - and it might make all the difference.
  3. Shame to see him go, but I think the timing is right. His arm ain't what it used to be, and if you look at the amount of 'young guns' around, then this was probably his last, best shot at a ring. While his numbers alone might get him into the HOF, I think the fact he never missed a game, is the clincher - especially with some of the injuries he was known to have played through. As competitive as they come. Hope he enjoys a long and fruitful retirement.
  4. By the looks of it, he could be doing walkthroughs on Thursday (Stage 4), and cleared for full practices on Friday, assuming things keep going the way they are. I think we should be practising on the assumption he will play - even though we might pay lip service to thinking we could face either QB.
  5. The deep ball down the right, where Diggs has his man beaten, definitely gets taken by the wind. Somewhere in the broadcast in the UK, they showed it a couple of times, and you could see it get pushed by the wind towards the sideline, and probably helped further along as well. I think on that one, in particular, you have to take that shot, even though it's difficult, because your guy is open, and it sends notice to the opposing D, that you aren't afraid to do it, which means they have to be somewhat more careful with their coverages, and possibly leave a bit more space underneath. Without the wind, my gut feeling on that one, is that it would have been 'on the money'.
  6. I'd rather we beat KC with him, but tbh, and being no expert, the way he looked when he tried to get up, I will be surprised he gets cleared in time. I would also say that I would feel uneasy about him playing, and suffering another one, quickly. All we can do is hope that however it pans out, it's in the best interests of Mahomes, even if he doesn't agree.
  7. Very odd - hard to see what exactly caused it, but he was totally gone for a moment or two. Lots of injuries in this game atm, hope none are too serious.
  8. Ownership is the biggest problem here. McNair is letting too many people do jobs they aren't qualified for. Starting with BOB as GM, then moving on to this Easterby character, whose qualifications for being employed as an NFL anything, appear to amount to leading prayers around the Patriots facility. You also don't tell the most important piece of the team you are going to involve him before making decisions, and then go ahead and make those decisions regardless - even if it's your right. Heck, if McNair had told Watson he was getting no say in this from the get go, he might be pissed, but he might also be prepared to wait and see how things panned out.
  9. Excellent stuff Shaw, and thanks. It seemed to take the broadcast commentators, a long time to figure out the wind was a problem, yet you could clearly see the flags were horizontal.
  10. Yes. Eventually. He's been 100% effort all the way, allied to a fair bit of skill. Effort wise, the guy is relentless. If not for having crossed the zebras somehow, (even before the tunnel 'incident') how much better would his career look if he got just some of the holding calls he's been due. Also, he's the best value trade we've ever made, imho. Note the 'value' part. (Diggs might just surpass him in that eventually.)
  11. I liked the idea behind QBR, but it has never seemed to me to consistently pass the eye test. I've watched far too many games where it simply doesn't stack up to what I've seen from the QBs in a game. I think that passer rating still has an edge, if you decide to 'play' with it a little, if you want to figure out why it isn't quite stacking up to a performance you thought was better, or worse, than it shows. Taking away an interception that should have been caught by a WR, for example, or maybe adding one in that a defender should have had, is probably going to give you a better reflection overall. While that is subjective, it's only one thing that is subjective, not a bunch of them.
  12. I felt a bit sorry for Taron there - it looked like he had a good pose lined up for in front of the screen, but Micah was all over him like a rash before he could do it. And the screen is pretty tough by the way it got hammered by the Bills D as they mobbed him.
  13. It was a legit penalty. I think the problem for Josh is that under a lot of circumstances, he's difficult to bring down, and he doesn't get some flags he ought to. I call the 'sell', 'addressing the balance'. While it can be argued that some of the roughing calls are 'ticky tacky', at the end of the day, it's about discipline, and defenders pretty much know what they shouldn't be doing. Just about every game a defender takes a chance on a 'late one', in the hope the zebras won't spot it, or are going to let it go, so I have little sympathy there, as I think that was exactly what the defender was up to.
  14. While I think that the wind helped us, in a weird way, making passing so much more difficult, and possibly being a factor in the botched snaps for the Ravens, the bottom line for the Ravens, is that as good as they can be in the run game, they really don't have a plan B when it doesn't work. Once the Bills got ahead, it was hard for them to get back into it, because they don't use all the field, with their only real weapons in the passing game, being Andrews and Brown. Admittedly the pick 6 happened at about the best time for us, but with limited options in the passing game, they were a lot easier to defend in that respect. Taron was just sitting there, and wasn't having to cover anyone. (Still an awesome play mind) The Ravens might still be capable of bulldozing their way to the playoffs for a few years yet, but they will struggle to progress further, without adding better passing elements to their offense - including pass protection, as they weren't very good there. Lamar has the arm to make all the throws, but he's not being called upon to do so, so it becomes increasingly difficult to get right, when it's needed.
  15. Poor game from both offenses tbh. Both D's doing okay, but even they aren't looking anything special.
  16. Nice of him to give the opposition bulletin board material, when he can't play. I'm sure his teammates really appreciate it. 😏
  17. This is a bit saucy from the Pack. Running that D into the dirt atm, and not even bothering to use an MVP QB in Rodgers.
  18. Trump must be a genius, because he said he is....
  19. Would that be one negative and one positive allows entry?
  20. Trump is in deep doo doo this time. It wasn't just one side of the political divide that was forced to scurry for cover, when Trump wound up his clockwork soldiers and pointed them at the Capitol. Mobs generally, are not known to be very discriminating, and the people stuck in the Capitol building, are going to be only too aware of that. Prior to the events at the Capitol, the Democrats might have had a very slim chance of the required majority in the Senate, to impeach Trump. Now, I think it's almost a done deal, and it's Trump's own fault.
  21. As someone else has said, I'd prefer continuity, yet I actually think that son of Schotty is a decent OC, proven by the fact that he has utilised different styles of offense in different places. I'm not a great lover of Carroll either, so there's some bias involved, as while he takes 'some' responsibility for individual game upsets, I feel he's very quick to chuck guys under the bus whenever there are bigger pictures involved. The Seahawks offensive issues are probably more to do with poor O-line play, than anything else, and as roster responsibility is between Carroll and Schneider, I'd be asking them some tough questions. Shopuld Daboll depart somewhere, as I've said, I'd prefer continuity, but I wouldn't be bent out of shape should McDermott hire son of. I would, however, be very much in 'wait and see' mode.
  22. One thing I've noticed with Jackson, is that he bails out (of bounds) when a run is looking like it's coming to an end. Someone has clearly made that a point of emphasis to him, and it's something that can help preserve his career. Doing it that way, lessens chances for cheap shots when just sliding, or even just being landed on even without intent. It's probably in part a function of the fact that he is more successful running when he gets outside, but it's still sensible play on his part. He's essentially treating his run as 'taking what he's given' and avoiding additional contact unnecessarily. He also doesn't necessarily rush as often as we might think, although as the going gets tough (closer games) he does run a bit more. Through the regular season, he averaged 10 runs a game, although whenever games were close, that went up. The most runs he's had in games this season, is 16, on I think 3 occasions, one of which was against the Titans.
  23. The O-Line has to hold up better than in that game. Allen needs to watch those highlights as a reminder to get rid of the football a bit sooner, and not leave us in quite so many difficult down and distance plays. I'm confident he will do so, as he's done it for the majority of the season so far. Singletary should watch that too, as he made some good runs, offering hope we can run 'enough' to keep the Ravens D a bit more honest, rather than just pinning their ears back. One thing I noticed (again) is that Jackson does a good job of getting out of bounds, when he sees his run is likely to end. A good self-preservation attitude from a QB who runs a lot.
  24. That sucks. After being distinctly unimpressed with him early, he had got up to speed with the NFL, and had become a very valuable complimentary piece to the offense. Good 'finisher', and didn't noticeably miss blocks. Ran hard. I feel genuinely sorry for the kid, as he has definitely been a contributor to the teams success, and it must hurt badly to no longer be a part of it, for as long as this season lasts.
