  1. Some of the content from the Chiefs website is reported in this article as well. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/jovan-belcher-undrafted-free-agent-turned-starter-nfl-maine-black-bears-120112/
  2. Someone could've pulled something like this: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/morgan-state-coach-learns-plan-fire-him-inadvertently-004059077--ncaaf.html
  3. I'm glad that's clear to you. In contrast, it sounds like the interview may have been emotionally charged and rather defensive. By the way, it's really not that hard to sell the proper objectives and it doesn't involve irresponsible actions like throwing the people that report to you under the bus.
  4. I happen to think he'd be foolish to leave Oregon for Buffalo for a number of reasons... I also don't see it as a good fit. The Bills don't have a QB that can run the option. They don't exactly have a highly athletic offensive line that can play in space. They don't have a TE. They don't have big physical WRs that pancake DBs downfield. They don't have anyone familiar with the offense. And, I shudder at the thought of having the Bills defense on the field for 40+ minutes a game. Other than that, it'd be great.
  5. I've never been a big fan of the "Woe is Buffalo" mentality. It's inherently defeatist and smacks of self-loathing. The weather in Green Bay sucks. Green Bay is smaller than Buffalo. It's not busting at the seams with billionaires willing to shuck out briefcases full of money for skyboxes. Yet, Green Bay is known as "Titletown" and they continue to compete and win championships. 50+ years of suckish ownership has done damage.
  6. Still, the difference in the following possible responses is abundantly apparent, is it not? "Our goals going into this season were to have a winning record and make the playoffs. Those goals are still attainable and I still fully expect our team to reach those goals," versus, "I don't want to talk about it anymore. I'm going to hang up on you."
  7. That's the point though. The Bills aren't intrinsically handicapped. They have chosen to be so. The math isn't biased with excuses.
  8. Maybe the Bills can get Blaine Gabbert.
  9. Say nothing of the schedule, which is cyclic for the most part, but also has year-to-year games that match bad teams against bad teams and good teams against good teams from the previous year's result. The deck is actually stacked in their favor to get better!
  10. Actually, the evaluation of management should be based on whether or not they obtained the objectives of the business. I don't think anyone in Detroit cares if the GM drafts a dozen RBs in a row and they all go to the Pro Bowl if the sales of inventory trend towards zero.
  11. That's easy. Now that the college season is winding up, he and Chan have time to get the story straight.
  12. Not too sure about that. Both Gailey and Nix have nonchalantly mentioned that Ralph is still very involved and that they talk quite often about the team with the owner by phone. Furthermore, it follows that someone that's managed his business for most of 50+ years a particular way (save for the Tom Donahoe experiment that left a foul taste in his mouth) would continue to do things his way. Those head coaching candidates that wouldn't even bother with an interview didn't think they'd have full authority to take the measures to build a competitive team and said as much.
  13. I was going to say the rumors reminded me of Vince Young ... then I see the VY excuse.
  14. Or how about leaving it "in the family" so to speak? As a Head coach, maybe he should be concerned with setting a winning tone and holding the team accountable. Defending the starting QB should be the OC's or QB coach's job ... oh wait. Instead of digging a foxhole, he needs to be charging ahead and leading the team out of the ****. His weekly "I know it's my responsibility" comment is starting to sound like a guy that is continually amazed after each game that he is still the head coach. Of course, it's your responsibility Chan. Get over that and surround yourself with competent people.
  15. I'll take "guy that hyped Aaron Maybin" for $600, Alex.
  16. That's an understatement. Did you know that they haven't even activated their 1st or 2nd round picks all season yet? What bothers me is he has been extremely poor at winning, regardless of the beliefs.
  17. ... they'd cut one and trade the other for a 4th? http://instantrimshot.com/
  18. The 3rd stringer in Philly is some guy named Trent Edwards. I think he beat out Fitzpatrick every camp for the job once upon a time. As far as the topic title: the goose was already in the oven.
  19. The sad thing is this was true when he played for the Rams.
  20. I broke it down a few years back and the data showed that most first year NFL coaches actually do show an improved record over the predecessor. (PS: I know it's a different point than what you meant.)
  21. When you say trips, you mean 11 personnel?
  22. Tarvaris may not be the melon head that Fitz is ... but, what would happen if Fitz and TT both can't go? It wouldn't go too well for Gailey to have to trot out a guy that might not even know where to line up.
