  1. Or maybe Spiller is so used to being part of a platoon that he takes himself out of games fairly often? Maybe Chan figures he isn't interested in playing if he takes himself out after 3 carries? The easy answer is Chan is a fool, I get it.
  2. It doesn't matter what I think. The head coach seems to think he was tired. Spiller was more of a workhorse in the other game, but did mention in the post-game that he got winded and wasn't used to carrying the load. Gailey's comment reminded me of that explanation. Everyone can say, with no real knowledge, that Spiller can carry the rock 40 times a game easy; but, the curious part is if Gailey is not simply lying his ass off.
  3. Who cares? 7 carries total is gassing the guy? He's a professional athlete for crying out loud!
  4. It's the easy part of the schedule. For starters, Marshawn Lynch and the Seahawks will be an easy win...
  5. Yep. He's a solid player, but his expectations were way out of line at the time.
  6. Maybe he's pissed that he couldn't carry more kickers.
  7. Chan explained that Fitz is not allowed to check out of a running play...
  8. Well, Whitner is no Ronnie Lott and wasn't worth what he thought he was... but, Wilson isn't adapting to the Wannstedt defense very well at all. Were is Dick Jauron? I hear he's a very good DB coach.
  9. Spiller said something like that after the Thursday night game. He's not Curtis Martin, apparently. It's somewhat concerning that a 3rd year NFL RB, drafting as high as he was, gets winded after a few carries. 7 carries for 37 yards shouldn't be totally gassing out an elite back.
  10. Why would it surprise anyone that Fisher would outcoach Gailey?
  11. John McCargo had a great series once.
  12. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol2012 Interesting: Best team in the NFL running around the right end and worst team in the NFL running around left end. Also 3 out of 5 runs come right behind Levitre, Wood, Urbik up the middle. Only 1 out of 10 runs is around either end.
  13. That's the sort of thinking that gets one in trouble. Just because the Bills might think going 1 player deep at QB is the best thing to do, does not mean teams like the Seahawks, the 49ers, the Redskins, the Patriots, etc. don't see value in drafting a QB as depth and a guy to develop.
  14. What happened to the OL in particular between 08 and 09 in Buffalo under Jauron and Brandon's watch was odd to say the least. It was almost as if people were trying to fail so as to get fired -- and they were. The Bills went from a line of Peters, Dockery, Preston, Butler, Walker to a line of Bell, Levitre ®, Hangartner, Wood ®, Chambers. There wasn't a single position of continuity in the entire offensive line. That's incredible. In 2012, Glenn, Urbik and Pears (IR) do seem to be upgrades, if not exactly all examples of Buddy building via the draft. The drafts for OL includes: Wang, Calloway, Hairston (IR), Jasper, Glenn, Sanders (IR), and Asper. On defense, the Bills had Kelsay, Stroud, Williams, Schobel in 09. That's a pretty good group actually with 3 former Pro Bowlers. In 12, the Bills DL is Williams, Dareus, Williams, and X. One hold-over from Jauron, one 3rd pick overall, one high-priced free agent, and a revolving door of bodies. It's not that clear cut, and this unit was really awful with the switch to the Miami scheme out of the gate. The draft for DL includes: Troup (IR), Carrington, Batten, and Dareus. By the way, with 3 tackles, the top reserve guard, and the backup center all on IR, the Bills face a tough month as they try to win out to make the playoffs. The latest batch of street free agents, Scott, Snow, Welch, Williams, and Young, will continue to get some playing time.
  15. And even if he isn't, we can still say he is.
  16. Speaking of whom, the Bills could probably pick up the original copy for a song.
  17. Not quite true. The Bills played the Browns and Chiefs based on the 2011 standings (and people were complaining that the schedule started out difficult ). Indeed, the Bills seem to play the Browns, Jaguars, and Chiefs/Raiders every season under the new scheduling rules.
  18. It is true that through the Modrak Era, the Bills did quite a bit of projecting. While not always a bad thing, it might have served them better overall to actually go with what the player put on tape.
  19. By the way, his name is Giff Smith. Giff Smith was the recruiting coordinator at Georgia Tech when they had some of the best recruiting classes in the school's history. He is still regarded as a great recruiter. Unfortunately for Tech fans, he left Tech to coach defensive line for the Buffalo Bills.
  20. and tricking everybody by using him on the DL.
  21. Let's see, Fitz is averaging about 31.5 attempts a game over those years ... so just imagine what is possible if he chucked the rock 45 attempts a game. Forget the run! Chuck it Chan!
  22. Interesting... Does Chan really have enough time in his days to be the HC, OC, and QB coach? Is the TJax situation any indication?
  23. Perhaps to fill the skybox QB hole made when TJax signs elsewhere in a couple months. Injuries? The defense improved via injuries.
