  1. Interesting thought, and you may be right. Sure. As I said in another thread, the question was about the use of the adjective "classy" with respect to a tweet and not the press conference. That is not an indictment of Coach Gailey nor will a single tweet have any bearing on his future. With the context of the PC, the tweet probably wasn't really even intended as backhanded.
  2. So, he doesn't want the best deal? Will he sign for vet minimum?
  3. Twitter sucks in a lot of ways. But, I agree that the PC gives the better context.
  4. He's a football coach. Getting fired goes with the territory and should be expected. I don't think he meant it that he hated his other positions, after all much of his staff came from Georgia Tech and Miami, etc. Although, it could be construed that he was taking a shot at Kansas City, Tech, Miami, Dallas, Denver, or whatever. FWIW, I think he'll be employed again soon enough. And, he did wring blood out of a turnip on offense.
  5. Actually, that conversation was about a tweet and not the press conference.
  6. It's not really that hard of a concept is it? By saying this is the only job he's ever been fired from where he will probably root for the team is clearly implying that he had negative feelings about the other jobs he was fired from. A "classy" reaction is one that accepts the outcome and moves on, without having to go into previous situations and circumstances as explanations or for comparisons. He's out in Buffalo. It's over. Is his next employer really impressed that he liked working in Buffalo more than other jobs and could be a fan of the Buffalo Bills? PS: FWIW, from the quote from the press conference, it was made clear that Gailey was very emotional and just speaking from the heart. So, while I don't think it was the most eloquent thing man has ever said, I fully appreciate that Chan was upset at trying to just say good-bye and wouldn't hold it against him.
  7. No doubt. I wasn't too impressed with the Bills safety play this season either. I can excuse it a bit due to Wannstedt's involvement, but I stick with the original statement. The Bears back 7 is better. Also, while the Bills front 4 is great on paper, it rarely played that way and far too often played like garbage.
  8. To Buffalo, perhaps. But why take a dump on Kansas City and Dallas (for example)? Do the fans of those teams deserve to take a little implied shot by Buffalo's latest failed head coach? Sorry, I don't see how that's "classy" at all.
  9. Somehow, I don't see that as classy at all. From the press conf.: "This'll probably be -- and I say 'probably,' but I think it will be -- the first place that's ever fired me that I'll pull for. Thank you."
  10. That's normal. What is not normal is to tell candidates that they must hire the last HC's failed staff.
  11. Yep. Most companies setup a press conference at layoffs to let the ex-employees vent their feelings to the media on company property.
  12. It should. How do you propose to hire a new head coach and force feed him Chan's staff? Wannstedt especially was a disaster.
  13. Chicago's back 7 is significantly better than the Bills.
  14. Maybe you missed it, but when Nix was hired the Bills had been stocking players for a Tampa-2 defense. His plan was to overhaul that to a 3-4 defense and he started dumping the small, quick players for big, heavy guys to, in theory, improve what he felt was a weak run defense. Of course, that was a total failure, but it would be slightly ironic to hire a Tampa-2 guy 3 years later.
  15. Was that 10 before or after Chan got the ax?
  16. Yes. Let's bring back the Tampa-2.
  17. Both his sons went to prison for drugs, but I believe that only one of them is dead (Garrett: a heroine overdose).
  18. Maybe the Jags hire Marv Levy as their next GM.
  19. Reid never was able to replace Jim Johnson and the whole thing started to unravel there.

  22. Seems rather scattered actually. Keep Gailey, emasculate him by taking the OC job outof his hands (wtf do you keep him for then is anybody's guess), keep for continuity and fire him in season if they don't start hot and fire him at the end of the season regardless. It might make sense if something was improving, but both the O and D have fallen flat.
