  1. Of course, he can be blamed. He hired Gailey and signed off on the move to promote Wannstedt. That latter was nothing short of a major blunder, especially considering that Nix' vision was to build a 3-4 defense and he had spent his first 2 years "trying". And, "trying" doesn't earn someone enough charity points to offset measured failure. 16-32.
  2. Metz' comments are throwing Buddy Nix under the bus. "If you don't have a dominating defense, you need a winning QB in the NFL." That's not a revelation, just the cold hard truth. And, for 3 years the Bills ignored the QB position while throwing their resources at building a better (cough) defense. Despite all that effort, the defense went from pathetic under George Edwards to historically bad laughingstock under Dave Wannstedt.
  3. Think they'll draft someone that played outside of the South?
  4. The two points aren't mutually exclusive. One can find Donte Whitner a below average player with an annoying personality AND can blast the Bills for reaching for him to fill a void they created for themselves. Further, there were several threads started before the Super Bowl congratulating Whitner on his going to a Super Bowl, his Pro Bowl selection, etc. and taking the exact opposite stances on the two points in the previous sentence.
  5. Sounds like the Richard Sherman thread, draft a guy high that you don't expect to do anything and string people along with the "we're developing him" media pablum.
  6. The case for having 2 streaky QBs is that you can ride whichever one is "hot" at the moment. Chan, as we all know, never had any intention of doing that. Still, the strategy is fundamentally flawed because both of them may ebb low at the same time. Then what do you do? Of course, the only reason you intentionally go in this direction is because you have no other options and are stuck with journeyman backups off the scrap heap as your only alternative...
  7. Now we know who Overdorf was working to sign. Sort of surprised that Jackson was willing to come back here. Gailey getting fired and Nix being retained could explain it though.
  8. Exactly. The problem with the "just one bad game" theory is that it doesn't explain away aspects of his performance like lack of speed, inability to get off blocks, lack of physicality. It can explain things like missteps, confusion, and perhaps even poor tackling. Still, the concern is that a small, slow ILB that can't cover at the NFL level isn't an every down player, at best.
  9. Maybe NFL teams won't try to block him. Not sure how that will help him with what appeared to be a lack of serious wheels and instincts, but the Bills have had good luck with Notre Dame players in the past.
  10. Maybe Manti can fire up the team from an internet chat room. Just like Ray Lewis. Well, sort of. http://instantrimshot.com/
  11. I thought he was making commercials with Kate Upton. Wait. You mean he lies on a coach and makes commercials with Kate Upton?
  12. Some cigar smoking guy wearing a hat and sunglasses and introducing himself as "Jon's cousin Vinny" will be doing the interview of Te'o.
  13. Think of it as a shiny new mylar balloon that got away from you when a gust of wind met you stepping out the door.
  14. So, you don't advocate selling illegal substances? http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/155691-vince-youngs-300k-birthday-party/page__st__20#entry2727867
  15. Is Chan a genius for running the ball against defenses playing the pass and leading directly to gaudy rush yards per attempt or is he a fool for throwing against defenses stacking the box and taking the run away?
  16. He said $15K a month. That comes to $180K a year. Which is 18% of $1M. Not sure what makes that sort of return in today's world. Making and selling meth on the street?
  17. Analytically speaking, of course. Flacco set the record for the 3 cone drill at the combine for a QB. Just because he is tall and lanky doesn't mean he can't move; he can and exceptionally well, in fact.
  18. Sarcasming your sarcasm is all.
  19. Yeah, that's it. http://www.ballerstatus.com/2012/09/21/nfl-qb-vince-young-blow-26-million-spending-habits/
  20. Never understood why people come on a football discussion board and post their indignation that other people are discussing football topics. Back on topic, the 49ers prior to Jim Harbaugh's arrival were no better than the Bills. Both franchises were tarnished.
  21. Not much. He did hit Brett Favre. Never understood why they wanted to take a guy that was a pass rusher in college and play him in space and covering the middle of the field. But, then it's the Bills and putting guys in positions to fail on Gailey's defenses seemed to be "how we do it". He's a pass rusher. Do you think they are just going to blitz up the A gaps every down? He's the classic Bills Modrak Era pick. Guy they thought they could move from what he did in college to some other position and convert him. After fizzling with the switch, fans want to do some Maybinizing and see if he can play another position or three. Maybe Moats can play TE too.
  22. That one got my attention. Why? What has he done at ILB to draw that conclusion?
  23. He showed flashes of freak athleticism in the Senior Bowl. A good sign the Bills will go in some other direction, that.
  24. Darwin Walker. He never played for the Bills though. He held out in the hopes of going back to the Eagles, but the Bills dumped him on the Bears at the 11th hour. The Eagles also got Takeo Spikes and Kelly Holcomb in that cluster !@#$ "deal". Marv Levy was a master as a GM. Oh, how about Marcus Buggs? Not sure if he makes this team, but I always liked his name. There was that guy with the freak straight line speed that was a LB for a while, but I don't think he ever made a start. Sucked as a LB too, since he was as stiff as a 2-by-4 and was strictly glacial in changing directions. Edit: Dan Brandenburg and it looks like he actually did have 1 start.
  25. Didn't he start at CB a game or two? (Edit: more than that actually. <sigh>) He and Aaron Williams should have the CB position nailed down for this list. Chris Watson. <shakes head, laughs>
