  1. Speaking of which, Stevie Johnson is a quick and precise route runner in this guy's world.
  2. Has a team ever drafted a QB in the 1st round every single draft for multiple drafts? How would they know when they "got it right" so they could control themselves exactly? That sounds like the perfect hot-pocket approach for a franchise with no plan, aimless direction, and a spinning door philosophy in the football department. Nix has been a failure because he has spent (essentially) zero resources on QB and threw cap money away in doing it! He said day 1 on the job that he believed the Bills already had QB talent on the roster & that some people would think he was crazy for saying it. Turned out "some people" knew more than Buddy. He had a QB that could dink-and-dunk between the 20s, a journeyman QB with bad mechanics, a Brohm for sweeping the kitchen, and a coach that thought he could make silk purses out of sow's ears every time he steps into a QB meeting room. If Nix had spent even a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a QB to develop, the team probably would not be bent over a barrel and forced to salvage something that looks like a QB out of the NFL dump entering 2013 free agency. "Just hose the rotten banana peels and cabbage off him, he'll be fine."
  3. Not even close. Had season tickets on the 50 yard line. Steve Young was definitely not the problem with that team. Comparing Kolb to Young and Brees is like comparing Rob Johnson to Peyton Manning or Brett Favre.
  4. Disagree with the OP. The Kolb signing is seen as a move to protect themselves so that they do not have to chase a QB up the board. They have plenty of holes to fill. I don't get the thought process that a team signs players to increase their own anxiety about some position. Talking heads and fans may not be sold on the move, but if the Bills signed Kolb it was because they thought he could help the team.
  5. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BreeDr00.htm So this guy does not fit your definition.
  6. Maybe more than that. They may have found out that it was nearly impossible to close the deal on free agents with nothing but a lick and a promise at QB. From Kolb's standpoint, there aren't that many teams that would see him as an upgrade and potential starter.
  7. That's not what the post said. The post said it was "a lock" that they would draft Nassib at #8 now. Completely the opposite. And, it really doesn't make sense since Nassib is rated as a 2nd or 3rd rounder, not a top 10 pick..
  8. No, I'm not mocking you at all. You stated that the Bills had "a lot of talent." Then you stated that they "not as loaded" as a list of other bad teams. That makes no sense to me. So, you are being sarcastic, made typos, don't know what your position is, are just flip-flopping around, or who knows? And whatever the case may be, I'm not mocking you at all. You're completely entitled to your opinion and can express it however you want here (within the rules obviously). I refer to the article because it mentions various things that you totally dismiss in your claim that the author was "lazy" and didn't "actually look at the entire roster" and was only interested in the QB position. See, when you claim that the article is wrong, I would sort of expect that you'd have some football reasons for saying that. It's easy to say the Bills have "a lot of talent" and give no reasons to support that feeling. It's not mocking to ask you what exactly convinces you to conclude that the Bills are clearly and unarguably more talented than 5 or more other NFL teams. But then again, maybe you were actually agreeing that the Bills are one of the 5 worst teams as far as talent, but are trying to suggest that adding a QB to the roster would make the overall roster much more talented. See, I'm sort of lost on what you are telling us at this point. And, yes, we are Bills fans. I respect that you didn't like the article and/or the opinions the author has. No worries, bro. It's all good. PS: I think the article was far from perfect, but it wasn't so wrong either to be contemptuously blown off. The roster Nix has assembled is talent poor. They have a few pieces, but the roster is getting torn down yet again and has many holes overall. Add that the Bills have been standing on the sidelines watching free agency, and it is an open and shut case that they haven't added talent to the overall roster. At least, not yet.
  9. He's an instant upgrade to Tarvaris Jackson. And, you'd know he wouldn't be coming to Buffalo, or anywhere else, out of some sense of loyalty to the business. Also, the Raiders sucked before he got there and I'd bet they will suck after he is gone as well.
  10. Took the other 4 teams mentioned in the article off your list for you. You're welcome. So, you are either being sarcastic and actually think the Bills are more loaded with talent than Arizona, Carolina, Cleveland, St. Louis, and Tennessee or you are just a troll. If it is the former, back it up with an argument with a dram of substance. This comes a little closer to something subjective. You may be right that Carolina escaped the list because of Cam Newton. On the other hand, the article does not solely focus in on QB. It clearly refers to other positions. It also does not mention Arizona or Cleveland. which are two teams that, like the Bills, are considered to be totally desperate for a QB upgrade. So, saying the article's list focused exclusively on QB and missed all the copious stockpiles of talent on the roster is rather specious.
  11. Yeah, but the Bills are loaded with talent. See the connection?
  12. Should have kept Gailey and fired most of his staff to get in the tank races.
  13. Yes, QB is a giant chasm. The article points out the team has holes at WR, TE, G, and T. It also points out that the defense was a horror show last year and has gotten weaker with holes at LB, SS, and CB. Some might argue semantics on a couple of those positions, but the fact is all of those positions are either unmanned at the moment or filled with question marks. Kudos to the Bills. Desperation makes an environment conducive to sound decision making. That explains why the Bills are free agency bystanders (to this point at any rate). Methinks you didn't read the article. Unfortunately, the "lot of talent" has more fizzle than pop. Spiller was exciting, but an individual isn't a mob.
  14. The roster is unquestionably improved. And, yes, Buddy would agree that the Bills are flush at tackle. PS: You don't have to soak in the fertilizer.
  15. http://sports.yahoo....53385--nfl.html Retreaded link. It does explain why the Bills have worked to create a cap bubble though.
  16. You are talking about TJ Graham, right? He outperformed who? By what measure? Dropped passes? Does anybody else recall a thread a few months back discussing TJ Graham's rating as the worst WR in the NFL? Many people correctly pointed out that Hilton (Colts) had a much better, more effective rookie campaign. To suggest Graham was better than all other 2nd and 3rd round picks smacks of a revisionist viewpoint when the reality was Graham only got on the field by virtue of injuries (Nelson, etc.). Chan Gailey publicly commented that he was not ready to play at one point during the season, and given his play Chan was not wrong. By the way, the run on small-body speed WRs came in the 4th round of the draft. PS: Yes, there is a difference between chasing what was an impact-less player up the board instead of playing it closer to the vest and drafting what amounts to nearly a clone in the late 3rd or early 4th.
  17. I don't know their cap situation details nor the details of his contract in particular either. I'd only add to Nitro's point that some teams do make the decision to reward the talent they develop by overpaying (and who's to say what is overpaying vs. not?). They feel better keeping the guy they know (Chris Kelsay) for what he brings to the team than trying to save a buck or two and figure out how to fill a hole. Having to overpay a bit is what free agency and revenue sharing is meant to do, namely make the players a lot of money. As for the difference between the Packers and the Bills, the Packers have had some stability on the football management side, they have an identity as a team committed to West Coast principles, they've had a good mix of veterans and young players they've developed, they've enjoyed good coaching since Holmgren (for the most part), and have had superlative QB play and have developed a number of QBs in-house. The Bills have not.
  18. The cool thing about being desperate for a QB at #8 is that everyone knows it. So, if any team behind the Bills falls in love with one of the QBs in this class, they just need to trade up in front of the Bills. And since the Bills know that, they can stock the war room with extra defibrillator paddles.
  19. True. A thread title like "nobody's perfect" is a segue for a following excuse. "Nobody is perfect, dad. I didn't mean to wrap your car around the tree last night after abstaining at the party." At any rate, the Packers possibly overpaying Finley does nothing to make me feel the Bills have improved their roster.

  21. Maybe he's been eliminated from his NCAA tournament pool.
