  1. It is important to evaluate based on the quality of the competition. Beating LSU, Georgia, and Auburn means a hell of a lot more than beating Akron, Miami (OH), and Youngstown State.
  2. Just yesterday I heard them going off on NFL radio about how London Fletcher was having another excellent season.
  3. The weather is crap here today.
  4. Matt Millen is out of work and shares the "build the house from the roof down to the ground" team building strategy.
  5. It worked out so well last time... oh, wait...
  6. How can you cut family?
  7. Sounds vaguely like what the Bears did. And, Buffalo was the beneficiary of that, because DJ is now our HC. Hiring a true GM with personnel responsibilities absolved DJ of having any role whatsoever in anything that went awry during his 5 year run on a treadmill to nowhere in Chicago.
  8. Actually, if he can backpedal 30 yards and leave the short and middle zones totally undefended, he'd fit our scheme brilliantly!
  9. I agree that playoff experience is not equal to leadership. But, I don't completely dismiss the value of experience. Nor do I equate leadership with motivational speaking. Frankly, dismissing a young know-it-all isn't all that uncommon a human reaction. I guess that's why they don't come out of West Point with 5 stars.
  10. Not to mention this is a very young team with very little experience with winning. Kawika Mitchell and Marcus Stroud are the only veterans with any sort of playoff experience.
  11. Anybody think Schonert might not have the answers? Or is it injuries and lack of talent?
  12. 2005 Chiefs? http://www.nfl.com/standings?category=div&...p;split=Overall
  13. Here are the rules. http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures Teams within your division are also teams within your conference. So, saying divisional games don't matter is silly. If the Bills went 1-5 in the div., and 10-6 overall, they'd be 6-6 in the conference. 10-6 is not an automatic. It's likely that is good enough to get in, but the Browns were 10-6 last year (they were 3-3 in their div. and 7-5 in the conf.) and the Chiefs and Dolphins have also missed the playoffs despite going 10-6 in past years.
  14. Seems like most people on the board are suggesting "anyone with a pulse".
  15. Egg-xactly! Edit: On the other hand, a 1-5 record in the division should be good enough to win some tiebreakers. Right? Anybody?
  16. Oddly, Parcells usually starts rebuilding projects by improving special teams, drafting in the trenches, jettisoning anybody that shows any signs of not buying in, and with a well-worn old veteran QB that knows enough to know how not to screw up royally. Not only that, the guy puts together some seriously good coaching staffs.
  17. Are you thinking 10-6 and 0-6 in the division?
  18. Saying the schemes are broken would be a real knock out shot to the nads. The new regime rode into town 3 years ago and installed their schemes and brought in many players that were going to fit their systems. Maybe if the players just spend a little more time watching film, they'll spontaneously gain abilities and be able to do things they don't seem capable of doing, at least not consistently. Then again, why bother? If a player doesn't want to play (Fowler) then he can sit in the hot tub and eat Doritos and continue to cash his game checks.
  19. Is there any accountability? Or is everyone just a victim of venomous fate? Obviously, Thurman doesn't understand anything about leadership. These guys play hard (or is it stiff?) for Dick. In the case of Dockery, yes. You're paid like a king and a future Hall of Famer to show up and take plays off.
  20. Great. A guy that's not interested in playing against the best. We need more character guys like that.
  21. Dood, we're only 9 games into the season and we might have more injuries. So, we don't want to waste time with the scout team running a 3-4 look in practice. They need to practice the almighty Tampa-2, cause we need to accumulate wins.
  22. Trying to measure someone against those that are clearly inferior is a pointless waste of time. It's what they do against equal and better competition that really shows their mettle and the progress being made. That's why it is impressive when the Dolphins and Falcons soundly beat teams, any teams, and much less so when the bumbling Bills manage to squeak one out against the Raiders.
