  1. I think a little field trip is exactly what the doctor ordered for the boys. It lets them play inside and be comfortable. Since they'll be in a neutral site, maybe the fans won't yell at them and hurt their feelings. If they lose, they can blame it on the bus trip. If they win, they can talk about their imminent Super Bowl trip.
  2. Yeah. I think that was rather the point.
  3. You left these out. has an average arm at best is injury prone is afraid to throw deep despite his Stanford pedigree hasn't figured out how to move the chains against a cover-2 man under in 2 months of games is scared of snow
  4. It's just denial.
  5. Here's another Trent excuse: "Well, at least he isn't JP!"
  6. But we can add to those as well! For example, "You can't blame Trent for the weather!" "You're expecting too much from a second year rookie; he was merely a 3rd rounder!"
  7. While we're moving players around randomly, maybe we should have Whitner move to NT. It'd allow us to run zone blitzes "unexpectedly".
  8. Maybe they can switch to an entirely new offense and terminology too, like they did with JP. That is obviously a proven way to help a young QB get comfortable.
  9. Yes, it is looking like a wise move today to keep Lynch on the shelf and save him for later.
  10. Here's a fun little stat. JP Losman's victories under Dick Jauron have come against teams with a combined winning percentage of .403. Trent Edwards' victories have come over teams with a combined winning percentage of .263.
  11. Perhaps Adam is wondering why Bobby Ross roared out of Detroit and why the franchise has had little consistent success since the early 1950s.
  12. I don't disagree with your point. Millen wasn't exactly an inspired hire from the beginning though. Not that we don't know people get hired for jobs they aren't qualified for every day.
  13. Actually, I think the data shows that the team has regressed over the past 3 years despite what people say here. In 06, the Bills were being rebuilt and were capable of beating and did beat average teams. In 07, their 7 wins came almost exclusively against the dregs of the league (other than the last second Redskins victory, they beat nobody), while they lost some in spectacular fashion. In 08, they've had a softer schedule than 07 and have struggled to get by bottom-feeder teams (except KC), requiring 4th quarter comebacks. We haven't finished the season yet, but it looks like at least 4 of the wins this year came against teams that are on suckitude-par with the 07 Dolphins. And, we've lost to teams on suckitude-par with the 07 Jets. Too bad we don't play the Lions twice this year: we'd really be making hay then.
  14. <broken record> He just needed more time and had no talent in Detriot. </broken record>
  15. You can take it one step further and look at the entire Jauron/Levy era. The first year the Bills split with 1 team with a winning record, the Jets. They beat two teams that went 8-8 and 3 teams that went 6-10. That was with "the loser" JP as their QB. The next year, they beat 1 team with a winning record, the Washington Redskins, who had suffered their team captain being murdered that same week. They also beat the 7-9 Bengals, the 5-11 Ravens, the 4-12 Jets, and 1-13 Dolphins. And yet, people pointed to injuries and suggested great progress had been made. This year, the Seahawks, Rams, and Chiefs are all 2-10. The Raiders are 3-9. The Jags are 4-8. Meanwhile, many of the teams the Bills beat the past couple of seasons are on upswings and have passed the Bills by... out of 20 wins, 2 were against teams with winning records.
  16. This quote Jauron also has Whitner's support. "He's done a great job around here. He's changed the culture around here from a losing attitude to guys believing that they can win," Whitner said. "It's up to us to get it done. I don't feel like he should take any criticism at all." strikes me as really very empty. Whitner has never had an NFL head coach other than Dick Jauron, wasn't a part of the Bills prior to Jauron, and has zero first-hand knowledge of what was going wrong years before he was drafted. I wonder if he talked to Takeo, Lawyer, or London if they'd agree that they were perfectly content to suck and lose. It is nice that he supports his coach; but, Newsflash!, the Bills are still losing, Donte.
  17. In Del Rio's case, didn't his DC defect to Atlanta this year and some former Buffalo coach replaced him?
  18. I thought it was that he ordered Rob Johnson to play so Flutie would miss a few of his incentives. Incentives that Ralph later paid Flutie anyway. It's all so confusing.
  19. I agree with the idea of letting McGee go. Now that he's gone through his growing stages on the Buffalo farm team, it is time to create a hole, develop somebody else, and draft some more corners.
  20. The approaches to team building have been quite different. Marv actually brought in and kept veteran players when he first came to Buffalo and filled in the gaps with younger players. Levy had a very experienced staff of assistant coaches, one of the most experienced staffs in the league -- guys that could generally be trusted to know how to do their jobs. They didn't ramrod pet systems on the players, they developed systems to accentuate the strengths of the players, stuck with it, and honed it. Players that didn't do their jobs were sent packing. Anybody remember Chris Burkett, Ronnie Harmon, or later on Billy Joe Hobert? Those guys had talent, but they crossed Levy and squandered it.
  21. Eh. An NFL QB needs to be able to do more than push the ball in through the paint and score layups, sorry. Kelly Holcomb clones can only do so much, like get you to 7-9 against a feeble dance card.
  22. It doesn't matter. He doesn't throw the ball deep.
  23. Sounds like Thurman was vocalizing the same look that was on Kelly's face. http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?s=&am...t&p=1224303
