  1. Miami could very well win the division coming off a 1-15 record. Must be the 53 All-Pros that they added in the off-season.
  2. John Madden was asked this morning about the Jets/Bills game. He basically said, "Well, at least the Jets aren't as bad as the Bills. The Bills show up on the schedule at a perfect time for the Jets. The Jets will be able to get things rolling in the right direction for the stretch."
  3. I think that would open them up to be sued for false advertising.
  4. About Clady: The dude is a beast in the running game and has only given up 1/2 a sack all year. The Bills RT can't even get out of his stance.
  5. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/sportsnation/ratings Single digits.
  6. Second thread on the same subject. http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?s=&am...t&p=1248470 Ironic that Jauron dumped the few veteran leaders on the team when he got here and that after 3 years the team has no identity and no leadership. One of the most often cited things present in this year's quick turnaround teams (Atlanta, Miami, Baltimore) is that there was a 180 degree change in accountability made and filtered on down. Some specific examples: Parcells and his staff told every player on the first day, "You are expendable. We will be looking to replace you with someone better at all times. You will do what we say or you will be gone." Joey Porter was one that said he was initially unhappy with this because he suddenly had to start practicing hard everyday even on fundamentals, paying attention in meetings, being on time. (End of the country club.) Matt Ryan walked into his very first NFL huddle with the play turned to his veteran receiver and told him that he was throwing a bomb and that the receiver was going to run his a55 off and catch it or get his a55 kicked. Country club was over. Harbaugh came into Baltimore and told his guys that they weren't playing patty cake anymore. Suit up and buckle your chin straps, we got a lot of work to do. Country club was over.
  7. "We have not been mathematically eliminated. Despite injuries and a young QB, the Bills are still in the playoff hunt with 3 games left!" You're right. It sounded better last year...
  8. Not that it "proves" anything but Steve Fairchild's team went 6-6 this season and is bowl eligible. Not bad for "the worst offensive football mind ever."
  9. Could it be that a lot of posters here have little recollection of the Bills glory years and bought into this past off-season's sales pitch completely and utterly? They were promised the playoffs by insiders. They loved the addition of Stroud and Hardy. They heard Adam Schein gush effusively about the Bills being a team on the rise every morning all summer long. They saw the Bills team rocket out of the gates to a 5-1 record, a record that all but "guaranteed" a playoff appearance. Then the wheels fell off. At this point, the Bills need a miracle to reach the playoffs. The people that bought into the hype were, unfortunately, very wrong. Their expectations were not met. Their declarations fell short. Their predictions simply incorrect. The team is regressing and failing before their eyes. Add to that the hopelessness of seeing the Bills treading water, a "few" players short, being outcoached, and generally being the AFC's Detroit Lions with almost the entire NFL passing them by at one point or another going on for 9 years. They have made capital (in many cases) and emotional investments and are disillusioned, disgruntled, and angry. And, they vent here because this is the #1 Bills forum on the Net. Some people are more emotional than others. It doesn't make them less mature or stupid. (At least, it's not my place to be their judge.) Face value: they're angry and they're venting.
  10. Are you from Toronto by chance?
  11. Gotcha. Thanks for taking the time to explain. Really, you could say the Bills haven't improved at all since the frontal lobotomy action of losing Phillips, Butler, Smith, and (effectively) Adams in 2000 for Donahoe, Modrak, and cash-to-cap. Butler gave Wilson a going-away present of a flaming bag of poo, but who's to say if he hadn't been set on leaving if those guys wouldn't have turned it around. San Diego was a steaming pile and they built up a pretty good roster there. Which reminds me, Norv Turner needs a few more years and a couple more players and things will be fine again for the Super Chargers.
  12. Anybody still think Dick has a chance to win coach of the year this year?
  13. Ya tawkin ta meh? (I wasn't arguing he was more entertaining, actually. I have a cup of change I need to sort and roll. Now that's a good time on Sunday!)
  14. Hope so. It's more entertaining to watch Trent struggle than Losman. Actually, watching paint dry is quite a thrill compared to this offense.
  15. A poster of a guy in a ski mask that reads, "Hand over your wallet!"
  16. Ah, yes. The maroon zone! Those were the daze.
  17. Why is it win 10 and lose 12? In a zero sum game, that seems like a nice little skew to 7-9. Fitting and all, but the Bills have had a 5-11 season not so long ago and haven't been above .500. So, they are mired on the losing side as is this analysis is skewed to the losing side. On the bright side, if they run the table, they can still have a winning season. Their first in a long time. Maybe then we have some ammo to argue that they are average.
  18. Get the IR body count up to 18 players.
  19. Don't underestimate the direction of thought that can take place when it starts with "the fans are the true idiots".
  20. Someone buy Ivy League Dick a dictionary and read the definition of unacceptable to him. One can apprehend and admit that they are doing a lousy job and have no acceptance, tolerance of it at all, which makes the performance, semantically speaking, unacceptable. For example, you might fail a test because you didn't get the material, but you can tell yourself "that wasn't me; it was unacceptable" and ace the rest of the tests for the semester. OTOH, Dick is truly amazing at trying to keep up this positive-thinking aura around himself and his charges. Maybe, he feels a word like "unacceptable" is mean-spirited and dirty, while trying to soft pedal with "we're not very happy" or "it didn't go exactly the way we planned" is a better way to maintain a positive mood and thus encourage people to play well.
  21. You mean like the time James "Not-an-All-Pro" Allen casually rode him out of the play and picked off the ball in the end zone?
  22. Well, you don't want to wear your guys out. It's a long season.
  23. WRT the QB comment... How's about trying something old-is-new? You know, the Dwight Adams approach, former VP of the Bills? The Bills could try building a team from the inside out. A good offensive line and a good front seven on defense would do wonders to make even an average QB or average CB look like they had an inkling of talent.
  24. Think Jauron can outcoach either Gruden or Fox next year?
