Hmm. The offense that Dick brought in 06 does have an identity. The identity is a stretch vertical passing game based on speed and timing with a power running game. JP Losman had the cannon arm but was deficient in other qualities. The group of WRs were poor and Peerless Price was brought in the improve that area. The line wasn't addressed until year 2, when they complexed it up further and decided to switch to a rookie tailback at the same time they supersized the line. The line was bigger, but it still couldn't trap and pull and still had some non-NFL players starting. The rookie RB brought his own set of limitations along with his talent. So they switch QBs to a QB who is extremely reluctant to throw deep, but can go to the checkdown in a heartbeat and avoids the huge negative plays. Now, they have a big mess. Some players brought in for a certain system and other players that can't or won't play in that system. So they swap out coordinators and promote a guy that has been a journeyman QB coach and in and out of the NFL coaching ranks with an alarming frequency and regularity. This is who they chose to fix the offense in the interest of continuity just like in Chicago. Schonert's contribution appears to be the "we'll outfox people" approach by establishing reverse tendencies in his play calling. Really, you can blame anyone and everyone, players, scheme, coaches, front-office. You can even toss in a weak, small defense that's basic identity is to defend the entire field, not give up large chunks, but can't get off the field. A defensive scheme that requires excellent execution by 11 players or suffers breakdowns, to be executed by a group of rag tag free agents and first and second year players. Add Marcus Stroud because we realize 2 years later that a DL of "small penetrators" is pretty much useless when you are playing from behind and getting steamrolled by the ground game and your offense moves in fits and jerks when it does anything. So, what about Marv? He had a hand in this, for sure. The reasons he hired Jauron are because of all the truly great qualities that Jauron brings to the table: honesty, integrity, hard-work, always positive, always steady, easy to work with and for, great character, been around the game a long time... but, and even Marv and Dick would admit this, he hasn't produced and ultimately that is the scale upon which he will be measured. For all his positive attributes, and they are many, he just doesn't win football games and build great teams.

Caldwell the Most impressive Center at Senior Bowl?

Who the hell is Roshan Bhagat? -
It could be explained from the perspective of being a tightwad. If Jauron had made a real run this past year and maintained his free agent status, he might have been able to command a larger pay hike than he was rewarded with. Although, I agree no other team was going to come in and "steal" him away -- there are other, much better coaches that got fired. Have you ever wondered why Jauron was eager to sign an extension 1/3 of the way through a season that was going so well? What I don't get is why his contract status was treated like a top secret. At the time, the extension would've almost surely been welcomed as good news -- the Bills were 5-1 and winning the division, the players love the guy.

I'm not there, but I heard Hood was having a great day and beating everybody. That doesn't mean Mack wasn't crushing other guys or that he sucks though. "...easily the best lineman..." -
The more wise GMs realize that putting together a good team is as much about building strong relationships as anything else. They realize that it is management's responsibility to make the people feel respected, rewarded, and fairly compensated. It's not in the franchise's best interest to chisel guys down a few bucks and create an atmosphere of resentment or apathy. Peters signed a decent extension when he was a RT and before he became a free agent. He then went on to far outperform that contract and switched to LT and became one of the best LTs in the game, a guy that other LTs quickly started studying to learn proper techniques. They went out and paid Dockery and Walker far more money at the same time, and they are inferior players. They paid a failed experiment C in Melvin Fowler about the same thing. The Bills have no one to blame but themselves for their own salary structure and their refusal to rework the numbers to pay their better players fair compensation. Applaud the bean counter Bills for saving a buck or two, but there is no doubt a certain stigma that comes when a team tries to chisel players over a few bucks rather than treat players fairly. The Tom Cousineau affair happened before modern free agency, but the bungling and arrogance in that situation left a stench and a black stain on this franchise for years. Indeed, it was something that Bill Polian had to work hard to overcome. The sad thing is that it is easily solved. Call the guy's agent and see what they want and negotiate. Negotiation and getting players on board is part of the GM's job function. Of course, the Bills don't have a real GM -- they have Ralph "Old School" Wilson pulling the strings on his circle of marionettes.

Alex Mack is apparently one of the guys that is really impressing people at the Sr. Bowl. -
Who are we going to get to replace him? Seriously, he's a very good coach, one of the few we had with much NFL experience, and got promoted to Assistant Head Coach in Houston. My guess. We'll probably end up promoting an intern.

Kurt Warner vs Chris Kelsay, winners vs losers

Yes, he had a shoulder concussion, so it was hard to be in position and run. -

He also had 5 times as many passes defensed as Donte Whitner in 2008. Cheerio chaps! -
FYI, this is incorrect. The SB winning Ravens team was a 4-3.

I prefer the phrase "frosting and sprinkles on a steaming pile of sh--". -
No. They drafted 3 Cs last year and all are still on the roster with Saturday. http://www.drafthistory.com/teams/colts.html

Todd Haley is just a maniac and "exchanges information" in an emotional way. He was the same way in Dallas. -
You want to bring Lewis in here to run down slot receivers and take away the slants? WTF? Why would he want to leave his team at this point? Got a link?

Brian Orakpo's Disappearing Act?
Sisyphean Bills replied to Chilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last year the Bills went into a draft with next to nothing to offer at the WR position needing a WR. Might as well go the same route on DE this year. The rumor is that Peppers may be allowed to hit free agency. Also, that he isn't worth the jack he wants and took way too many plays off this past season. -

Let's cut to the chase. What was he tied with? What was its tensile strength? And what sort of knots were used? -
Since when? Look it up, I'm not your research department.

I heard TO isn't best friends with Andy Reid.

In terms of population growth, both the Pittsburgh and Buffalo areas are negative. -3.1% to -%3.6, which means that almost twice as many people are leaving the Pittsburgh area as Buffalo according to the USCB data. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_Unit...atistical_Areas

Atlanta is 5M+ and growing. Pittsburgh is 2M+ and shrinking. Buffalo is 1M+ and shrinking.

He walks around the weight room with a heavy chain draped across his shoulders. He must be good.
