In one of the deepest drafts at the C position in decades, the Bills brain trust goes out and takes a "potential flier" on a part-time starter, utility lineman, and backup C in free agency, paying him a contract that he himself admitted was "way more than he ever expected". These are the sorts of strategic gems that this franchise comes up with.

The good news is that given the John Guy track record he'll be back in Carolina in a year or two anyway.

A backup, sometimes starter in a pinch with potential upside. Par for the course.

Not every 1st rounder is going to be a great player, but a team has to have some leaders, guys that are recognizably superior football players on the field. The Bills really don't have anybody that fits the mold now and it is a problem.

Don't you have to have something of value to make a trade? Who are they going to trade? Jason Peters? That'll be a big step towards improving the line, no doubt. Shrewd would be giving up a bunch of draft picks when there are gaping holes across the lineup.

It does give one a headache reading it.

Who knows. But, a team does have to send paperwork to the league for a trade so the league can determine if everything is cap kosher and so on. If the papers get faxed to a porn number of something, then the trade never happened. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they had both the waiver forms and the trade forms sitting on the desk and faxed the wrong ones between mouthfuls of a ham sandwich.
