So, the Bills are way under the cap and have no passing game. We have a chance to bring in an NFL caliber WR and blow that chance because they won't pony up enough money. And some fans applaud this because they don't want the Bills to "waste money". Seems sort of difficult to improve the talent on the team by adding nothing but bargain bin, second-rate players. But, hey, we saved a couple of bucks. When the Bills offense looks like a steaming pile on the field next year, remember how happy we should be because we saved some cap money.

The "paid too much" qualitative knee jerk reaction is a lot more about feeling good that the Bills missed the mark yet again than it is about saving grandpa Ralph a few more nickels.

I didn't say "same". I said "huge upgrade". Of course, they'd play the guy they pay if the two are roughly the same. To say that it wouldn't happen is basically saying Trent Edwards would never play when JP Losman was on the roster. Edwards may or may not be a "huge" upgrade, but he was an upgrade over the klutz. And if the coach is using contract numbers instead of performance to decide playing time, he's a complete tool and should be fired.

If Chambers was such a huge upgrade to Dockery, he'd have started last season.
