  1. Why not? They hand out a trophy for having the most draft picks, right?
  2. Maybe because Gonzo wants to play for the Bills less than Jason Peters did.
  3. This thread makes it clear. We should draft someone with the initials JP.
  4. Tom Landry used to say that starting a rookie cost you a minimum of 2 to 3 games a season, the ripple effect of mistakes. The Bills have once again put themselves in a position where they'll be hoping that rookies can come in and start immediately, it looks like. That's 3 out of the last 4 seasons. They rented T.O. for 1 year. It looks like Jauron and maybe Edwards need to step up to the plate and win now... It could happen.
  5. It is a business in both cases and while people have value, that value can change over time. And, let's face it, many people overvalue their worth in this modern over the top self-esteem world. Did you talk to Peters? Cause I have a hard time putting much weight behind anything that smacks of long distance mind reading. Peters clearly wanted a better contract when he saw what Dockery and Walker received in free agency. Did that stem from them telling him when they did his extension that he was their #1 guy and they'd take care of him? We don't really know all of the details. Was there really zero communication? How do the Bills value lineman? They let the Dockery contract come down to the wire and cut him in the middle of a possible trade situation.
  6. I've said it a few times before on record that I think Parker/Peters mishandled the situation. It was two goats digging in their heels and butting heads... It doesn't mean one goat is smarter than the other. Although, Peters did get out of Buffalo, which I think was his mindset after Brandon and Parker accused each other of not being able to dial the other's phone number for whatever reason.
  7. Actually, I think many teams don't shy away from picking a franchise LT in the draft when one is presented to them. For a bad team picking in the top of the draft, taking a guy that can anchor your line for a decade isn't a bad way to go, really. It's not the only way to go, but even the Patriots have spent picks in the top 50 of the draft on OL. And, they have shown they can develop their own. The Bills, not so much.
  8. Yep. Only team to lose a #1 overall draft pick to the CFL as well.
  9. Couldn't agree more. It was loud and clear he wanted a new contract. In fact, he had talked to them during the season before but they put him off until the off-season. Then, it depends on who one wants to believe as to who was stonewalling whom. Holdouts are what happens when negotiations are failing; agents don't stage "surprise" holdouts for their personal amusement.
  10. Why didn't you say so the first time instead of feigning a reading comprehension problem?
  11. We are in agreement. I specifically wrote "good management". Good management is out in front of things and it is a very difficult job. But, good management realizes that they are only as good as their people. Thus, keeping the people happy is and should be one of their primary focuses. Now, it isn't always possible to keep everyone happy all of the time. That's reality. By all accounts Peters did not start out a bad apple. He worked his way up from an UDFA nobody wanted to an All-Pro LT. That's not exactly the same as a "normal job" where the salesman who would rather drink all afternoon in the bar than sell the product. Neither side is blameless, but it is easier to blame Peters for everything because he is gone. I don't know who wouldn't call whom or who's phone wasn't working, but I know Parker said the Bills never called him. The Bills say Parker never called them. It's hard to work out problems when nobody is communicating. I find it simply unconscionable that any management would not communicate with its employee or, as is SOP in the artificial world of the NFL, his representation, though. That's just bad business. Reap what is sown.
  12. Trying to tread water while more and more weight gets added... Well, on the bright side, we still have Dick Jauron and the continuity he brings to the table.
  13. True. We still have work to do to reach rock bottom.
  14. Past considerations. Maybe.
  15. Sometimes it is inevitable, of course. But, you and I both know that good management takes it as a primary responsibility to keep their charges content so that they can focus on the job. If you weren't happy in your job and your boss responded by telling you through a broadcast email to all hands to "be a man and suck it up", it's pretty likely that the office culture would be seen as suddenly toxic.
  16. I didn't actually count, but I will now. Let's see... Harrison, Wayne, James, Stokley, Pollard, and Clark. OK, I stand corrected he was the 7th option on that offense. Mungro was the 8th. Big difference, though.
  17. It takes two to tango. I seem to recall the FO puffing out their collective chest in front of the media and announcing that they weren't going to negotiate at all with Peters until he came in to camp and went to work like any other replaceable part on the team.
  18. The silver lining is that the Bills don't have to shop for a pass rusher now. They have gaping chasms to fill... Well, assuming they don't trade Schobel and/or Cpt. Stiff.
  19. Really, it's just a pathetic and comical imitation of Belichick...
  20. Kugler did a masterful job with the entire line last year. One would've never guessed he was a greenhorn OL coach. Maybe he can coach up whoever plays the left side of the offense this year by rotating Chambers, Bell, and XXX like a ferris wheel. Everybody loves a circus, right?
  21. It continues the Bills front office mentality that the NFL game today is just like college and a team has to replace its entire roster every 4 years or less. This theory is deeply incorrect though, because unlike college the good players don't leave and pass into history; they leave and join your rivals and participate in maintaining your status as a doormat franchise. Thanks, TD.
  22. I got my popcorn. Can't wait to see what T.O. does if and when the losses start piling up...
  23. A couple of things... 1) You can't win if you can't score. 2) This team is not a championship team.
  24. Does that include the 3 snaps Chambers was out there? Cause Porter had 2 sacks on those 3 snaps.
  25. Yeah, but he was a decent 8th option back in the day for the Colts offense...
