Sisyphean Bills

I know it's heresy, but Whitner isn't great in pass defense either. Ryan Denney had more passes defensed last year than Whitner has had in his career.

QB wouldn't be a bad move. Fitzpatrick doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. He led the Bengals, who have talent at WR too, to the all-time single season worst passing attack (according to Jon Gruden). (Maybe they liked the way he checked down? )

Well, hopefully Maybin doesn't suck as bad as some of those chip-stained magazines say he does against the run.

Scott has played very well. And McGee wasn't a first day pick either.

I'd start Wood out at C, if he can handle it, if I wanted him to be the C for the next decade. The Hangartner comments may be nothing more than a little egg shell tap dancing to keep a smile on the new guy's face. The OL is a work in progress, but at least it is an area that they are actually trying to fix for a change. Outside: Walker/Chambers/Bell/Butler/Levitre/Scott/Denman. Yeah. His millions are drying up faster than our 401Ks. This isn't exactly cheery news for your boy Donte either, though. Donte said himself that he was going to be moved to FS. Then the Bills draft an pretty good cover corner in the top 50 of the draft and say they plan to break him in at FS and slot corner (Donte was also used in the slot). Donte hasn't exactly been a "ball hawk" (to say the least) and some in the media have said he's "wasted" at the SS position.

McShay was head over heels on Maybin.

I found the link to the article on BB.com. That is quite interesting. Especially since Donte Whitner said himself that he was switching to FS.

He may be switched to S by the Bills, but he was a CB at Oregon. A pretty good CB. Why do some of you think he's an instant starter at S anyway? They are trying to find a home for Donte and moving him to FS. Scott has played well enough at SS, enough so that they are moving Whitner. They have Ko Simpson and some depth at S. At CB, otoh they lost Greer and have a hole at CB to fill. So they pick a guy that was a pretty good cover CB in the pass happy PAC-10. Putting all their eggs in Drayton Florence's basket did not appear to be what Dick had in mind.

I think that must be it. Butler was a LT [edit: and RT] at Virginia and most thought he'd be a RT at the NFL. Maybe they plan to bump him out to RT with Walker flipping to LT. Or it could be the Bills outsmarting everyone and drafting a C to play G and a G to play T.

Orakpo was easy. He was long gone in the top half of the 1st.

He's a good cover guy. But, the Bills just don't need CB when they have gaping holes in other places. Anybody that doubted that Dick Levy had a serious woody for the DBs can give up that doubt.

He'll replace McGee next year...

He put on 15-20 pounds for the draft. He played at Penn St. at around 230-4. This guy reminds me of Corey Moore, only taller and less experienced. Chris Ellis just got his ticket punched. Where do the Bills play this guy? He's being billed as a one trick pony and 3rd down specialist. Do they move Schobel to the inside on 3rd and long and let Maybin rush off the edge?

In a 3-4 defense, yes.
