  1. I guess I'd say it looked like one team was calling very vanilla stuff and suffering numerous execution errors and mistakes against a team that was calling a "real game" and has distinctly better players in the trenches. It was no secret that the Packers were using this game to make some decisions about starters in some close competitions, so calling some wrinkles to see how they would do isn't a bad idea.
  2. A Jauron team is an impeccably prepared team.
  3. Anybody else think that Jauron may survive? I mean he's got 2 more years on his contract after this season and has not tried serving up parts of his staff to the executioner as yet. Give him another rash of injuries at a position or two, a few interesting days weather-wise, and he'll have some more cards to play.
  4. It would be pretty monumental to fire your coaches in the pre-season. You'd have to be pretty serious about tying the 0-16 Lions record.
  5. Is Jauron on-board with decisions such as going into a season with a make shift OL and no depth at all behind it, running a Tampa-2 defense without anyone in the front 4 than can bring pressure on their own, and building his team through the defensive secondary first? Or is he totally against these notions, which go against established football doctrine for building a winning program, and he just lacks the cojones or respect to tell the front office they are fugtarded?
  6. Not that there is any difference between poor, sloppy execution and lack of game planning.
  7. Green Bay suffered a moment of confusion, it looked like. It lasted between 2 and 4 nanoseconds, but it was there.
  8. I was reconsidering this a bit and came to the conclusion that the Lions just needed to give Matt Millen another 8 to 10 years and he'd finally find a QB.
  9. Apparently facing it 9 times in a 16 game slate isn't much. This team is impeccably prepared.
  10. Does the box score include a scratch-and-sniff? If not, it probably lacks the required aroma...
  11. Trent said that a lot of guys don't see much of the 3-4, that they'll go back and learn from their mistakes, and get it all turned around quick like. See? No need to worry.
  12. Well, just go back to work this week and try to get better each day.
  13. Williams was offered an extension after his second season. He didn't sign it. I understand that the offense still looks like sh-- on a dull stick, but it has been evolved away from what Fairchild was brought in to install. The offense was a down-field passing game with a big body power running game. (Recall Losman hooking up with Evans over the top?) It has evolved into a dink and dunk, no-huddle gimmick, with a bit of dance with ants in your pants style of running game. They may even be using the same terminology, but the philosophy has changed and changed to the extent that they don't use a no-huddle with or without a hurry-up as a change of pace like 31 other teams but are determined to use it 100% of the time.
  14. No need to change what works and get away from your bread and butter.
  15. Just have to get back to work. Maybe the ball will bounce our way next time. Seriously: Yes, he is right. But, there is a ginormous difference between playing afraid of your own shadow, checking down every pass, etc. and having the cojones to go out and beat someone. Give me the guy that fearlessly takes a shot at making a play that wasn't even supposed to be there, ala Ben Roethlisberger, any damn day.
  16. Losman wants another chance as a starter.
  17. "Statistically, the team that has the fewer turnovers wins most of the time. It's really important to protect the football when you have it. We work on it. We work hard on it. On Friday, we did a great job with that, I think." Another Jauron moment brought to you by the makers of Ex-Lax.
  18. WTF? Do you seriously want people to start thinking it is easy to win in the NFL?!?
  19. Actually, it's JP Losman's fault.
  20. Well, statistically, a rookie doesn't know everything and might make a mistake that could cost you a chance to make a kick at the end of the game. A veteran is less likely to make the same mistake. It's a no-brainer really. You always play the veteran, even when he has 1/10th the talent.
