  1. Actually, they did exactly what you say they didn't. They took Tarik Glenn and Adam Meadows in 97, and then drafted Peyton Manning the next year, in 98. They had already taken Marvin Harrison in 96. They added Edgerrin James in 99 and their defensive bookends in 02 and 03. The trick for the Colts is that they don't take drafts off and find an upper echelon player or two in almost every draft. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft...0&type=team
  2. Which makes you a total hypocrite as you chastise other posters for being critical of their team.
  3. You get what you pay for. Well, not really. Sometimes, with cash-to-cap, you don't get what you paid for (dumping players) and your accountant-in-charge says you can't afford to take out any insurance either. So you end up with a budget roster and dead money. We get a trophy for that, right?
  4. At snail's pace.
  5. I'd rather have McGee and Greer and Ryan Clady.
  6. The reason Quinn was benched was he never threw the ball more than 2 yards. Where have I seen that before?
  7. Will any of those guys have to power to modify the cash-to-cap chains the Bills put themselves in?
  8. Must be they're putting Ellison out at CB for McGee.
  9. You can't coach having the passion and desire to be a leader that other players will follow.
  10. Eric's personal assistant got the ax this morning. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...gini-confidant/
  11. It's way too early to grade the current draft. The kids have plays 8 games. Dockery was a bonus payment casualty during off-season. That is a F.O. move and not a "coaching" decision, although I'm sure the coach signed off on it.
  12. The preseason means nothing. Ask Turk Schonert and Langston Walker.
  13. The funniest part about Coles was that he is represented by Eugene Parker. The same Eugene Parker that got Jason Peters out of Buffalo and the contract he wanted and with a team that can contend. He had Coles work out for Buffalo first, and had Russ Brandon work to set a market value on his client. But, I seriously doubt there was ever any intention to have Coles sign with the Bills. The gift that just keeps giving. Russ taught those guys a lesson alright with the hard-ball stance. Good job!
  14. His title is COO/GM. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1...37-251e4b57a218
  15. They should know not to get drafted by Buffalo.
  16. I wish Dick Jauron success and I hope he pulls out a miracle and we finish 11-5. I know it isn't going to happen though. It's hard to be Dick.
  17. Yes, exactly. That is the other side of it precisely. You can't do anything too complex because you don't have the players. Because you can't do anything other than remedial pop-gun football, other professional football defenses will be able to shut you down easily, like "it was a pre-season scrimmage." Good defenses can even bait you into playing right into their defense. It's a lose-lose situation.
  18. Well, there is that. OTOH, it is morbidly fascinating to compare the two teams and coaches over the last 4 years (Jauron and Kubiak both getting their present positions the same year). Both teams have been mediocre the last 3 years, with the Texans having 1 more win than the Bills in 3 seasons. However, it looks like the Texans are on the verge of breaking out of the mediocre middle and maybe even becoming a playoff team. They have a QB, a truly great WR in his prime, a great TE, some studs on defense, etc. Compare that to Jauron's Bills, who are worse now offensively than they were in his first year, and that despite having Terrell Owens. The defense could be argued to be worse since it is pathetic against the run. And, the special teams have gone way down as well.
  19. Not a completely direct follow up, so forgive me. I saw another post "laughing" at Houston and Kubiak earlier. Yes, Kubiak is 26-29 as a head coach, so he is a "loser". Of course, he is only in his 4th season and took over an expansion team that went 2-14 under Dom Capers before he arrived. He has 1 losing season out of 3. And, before we jeer him too loudly, his .473 is better than our guy's .429 (now 20 games under .500). As far as the record, we're 3-2 against them and Jauron is 1-1 head to head with Kubiak.
  20. Maybe not a dynasty, but they kicked the Bills asses.
  21. In a way, Jauron is right. If you can't execute the basics, why bother with all kinds of razzle-dazzle? After all, he wants to keep the score close and lose respectably.
  22. 260? If he got that big, he'd be our nose tackle!
  23. In keeping with the timing gaffes, Jauron should be fired between the next coin flip and kickoff.
  24. The Bills roster is full of smaller, slower, weaker and younger players. Not always, but some injuries can happen because a player is not in the proper position to make the play.
