  1. And here's a sack of soft $100 bills to help cushion the blow... <sigh>
  2. I wasn't a fan of giving Hughes a big contract in the first place. OTOH, do you guys really think Whaley is going to 180 on him? No one can like his boneheaded personal fouls, but Whaley has some personal rep invested here. The trade to get him, the big contract ... I dunno. Now, if it was Bill Belichick making the decision, I'd be more inclined to agree that "bad results -> out the door" regardless of the situation. BB has proven he's quite capable of pulling the trigger on anyone on the roster.
  3. Yeah, probably not contenders. I just don't see enough at this point to beat a team hitting on all cylinders. But maybe a shade better than the 5 to 7 win perennial also-rans (or worse) they've been forever. Good enough to be first round cannon fodder in the post-season? Who knows.
  4. That was a strange game. Home game for the Steelers in San Diego. Feel bad for Philip Rivers. It's like watching a guy bail out his rowboat with a noodle strainer.
  5. Mr. Run-to-darkness. Umm, no.
  6. Does Brees really have the arm to hit him on the International Space Station?
  7. http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/teams/colts One could talk about the picks that are Polian's actual record vs. the make-believe stuff.
  8. It's ok for fans to take the position that the Bills should just bag the season rather than attempt to win if all the planets don't align perfectly, but is that the approach that you want your front office and head coach to take? What sort of culture and tone are they trying to create anyway? If the goal is simply to draft high and hoard salary cap, there are many other moves that make sense. (Like cutting the DL to save money and lose out.) Still what does it accomplish? It's clear that there isn't an Andrew Luck in every draft class (EJM was himself the first QB taken in his class). And establishing a culture of losing and throwing in the towel? Is that going to be good for recruiting free agents? Getting the most out of people later on down the road? What would you think of your boss if he stood up in a meeting and said, "We're not going to try to improve or do any business the rest of this year. But be ready next year because we're going to flip a switch after we hire a new, unproven guy in March."
  9. Vince Young is still out there as well.
  10. They cut the Terminator. Dang. Tyrod is far from an established starter. As is EJM. Cassel may be the #3 guy right now, but do people really think the situation cannot change for any reason by December? Really?
  11. I did see Chris Michael put the ball on the carpet a little too frequently in a scrimmage a couple weeks ago. PC looked like a vein in his forehead was about to pop.

  13. I'm still mystified on the salesmanship of "EJ is a rookie".
  14. Maybe there should be 16 threads to vote for which QB starts each game. And maybe 16 more for which QB finishes each game.
  15. Someone at WGR is smiling at this publicity.
  16. The quote that stood out to me was "Nothing I can do about it." EJM is totally wrong on that. He is, in fact, the only person who can do something about it. No one at this level is ever going to hand him the starting job ever again.
  17. Drafting in the 30s? Seriously? If the Bills are drafting in the 30s, it's most likely they don't have a problem at QB, no?
  18. Well, with Marrone coaching the OL personally, was there really much opportunity to use Sam Watkins as a serious deep threat? With a line as stout as wet toilet paper up front and a QB who came in to start straight off a training camp working the 12 ounce curl sets from his living room recliner ... well, like some people said at the time, the Sammy Watkins trade was strictly brilliant, save for the fact some had no idea how the coaches would get him the ball consistently.
