  1. If you see it as a 3 or 4 year job to correct the last 4 or 5 years of blunders, and the owner is a frail 91 year old, do you want to put your name, effort, and heart next to it?
  2. Suffices to say that when the Bills start calling college coaches, position coaches, CFL coaches, that they are working their way DOWN and not up -- hence the optimism that another coordinator turned the Bills down is "wonderful news" is nothing more than floating another half-filled hope balloon in the storm.
  3. Because he hasn't said "absolutely, positively, No!" to practicing his interview skills. At least, not yet.
  4. Let's see, they interviewed Frazier, wanted to talk to Schottenheimer, want to talk to Grimm ... doesn't seem like a ridiculous amount of obstruction taking place. Add that teams can be asked for permission to interview coaches during the playoffs and this argument is rather wobbly.
  5. Whether you want to see Brandon as a heroic figure lashed to the mast like a modern day Odysseus or as a boot licking, status quo preservationist ala Waylon Smithers, people on the outside are and should be very suspicious of the decision making process of the inner circle. Whether it is all Ralph's idea or whether Ralph is making decisions based on the flavor of ass kissing and "tell him what he wants to hear" he gets from his cronies doesn't matter; it's that the decision making process has sucked for quite some time and no patent changes have been made to that power structure.
  6. He was promised an interview from the very beginning. That is, he was a distinct exception. The Bills are working the list from the top candidates down per Buddy Nix himself.
  7. I think it does (and it is not just my opinion either). Not because Nix is a bad GM or a bad person, but because of the process that the team followed. It smacks of just another in a long line of knee-jerk decisions by the owner. The Bills didn't even interview outside of the organization, which was noted at the time and speaks volumes about their approach.
  8. The fact is that the Bills are working down a list from the most desired on down. So, if they are on the 10th candidate and the 10th guy is turning down an interview, they keep working down the list to even lesser candidates.
  9. Here is a different question. Was the Buddy Nix hire seen as a gigantic screw up by coaching candidates? Since Nix was hired potential candidates can't turn down interview requests fast enough.
  10. Marty isn't coming to Buffalo.
  11. Someone needs to put down the bong pipe.
  12. Same as it ever was. You're exactly right, of course. The Bills have constantly been trying to luck out of mediocrity while breaking in inexperienced coordinators and staff. It's par for the treadmill to nowhere.
  13. Disagree. It's a shot at Kiffin and the Bills. The Bills being first on the pot and (possibly) last off.
  14. The Chiefs are a hot destination.
  15. The 3 blind mice worked pretty well together. They were just in the dark.
  16. Another rumor on Bills HC search from Mory
  17. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?...t&p=1705255 The brain trust actually wanted Mike Mularkey to stay, but he quit. Jauron was brought in by Levy. Furthermore, to even get him, they had to offer Dick more power, such as full-control over the coaching staff, than they had ever done in the past.
  18. There is a lot of ego involved as well. Coaching in one of the big media-centers where they can rub elbows with politicians, movie stars, tycoons, fashion models, etc. is a big deal to the 'A' listers, as it is important with some players. It enhances their inflated sense of importance.
  19. 1. Buffalo. Ralph Wilson will not live forever. 3 years from now, the Bills are more likely than not sold to the highest bidder and all that entails. 2. Seattle. Deep pockets owner who played out the string with Holmgren and his guys and is now trying a new approach. Pete Carroll was not be the greatest NFL coach, but he wasn't terrible, and it's interesting that he was hired as Executive VP and HC. His connections to the college game may really aid the Seahawks over the next few years as they rebuild. 3. Washington. Snyder's Redskins have for the most part been dysfunctional. He has already had Hall-of-Fame caliber HCs work for him and most of them have been unable to deliver. Shanahan is just another on the list. The situation is much like Buffalo, systemic dysfunction stemming down from ownership, but with bigger bags of cash. Will Snyder ever learn that purging and signing the biggest name free agent isn't working? He hasn't figured it out yet.
  20. At least he hasn't bought a billboard to say, "Not Interested."
  21. No question that this is Mr. Wilson's show. There is little doubt who has his ear either.
  22. That all sounds rather familiar.
  23. I heard Dungy say he was a leader of men.
  24. Sounds like Buddy Nix is riding in the dickey seat on this clown car.
  25. Nomination: Worst broadcast team ever.
