  1. Yes, the two AZ QBs belong in the bottom bracket. But, it doesn't fit the (otherwise) individual ranking to combine them into a "What do you get when you cross a Trojan and a Beaver?" entry. Let 'em stand or fall on their own and be ranked versus the others as individuals. Or if this list is supposed to be 32 teams, then combine the Roethlisberger/Leftwich entry and toss them in the middle of the heap with an explanation that Big Ben is elite and Leftwich sucks. I just don't think it is consistent. I also suspect in the AZ case and because it is two players, Clayton gave them a bigger dose of "reasonable doubt" than the individuals. Leinart is horrible. Worse than Edwards horrible. And Anderson has done less than Delhomme and has had the same free fall type of career of late.
  2. One might quibble over the order in the last bracket, but there is no doubt that Edwards belongs in that last bracket until he proves he can operate an NFL passing offense efficiently and consistently in the regular season, in the red-zone, for more than 200 yards, can stay healthy, can be the leader of the team, etc. I like how the Arizona QB position is ranked as a group while the Steelers QB position is ranked as two individuals.
  3. Don't buy the "proof by tenure" arguments. It doesn't apply to the players; so why would it have any more weight for coaches and front office types?
  4. Cornell Green had 10 starts the one season he was with the Raiders while Buddy Nix was in San Diego. Not that Buddy was the Director of Pro Scouting for the Chargers that year anyway. (See: Abraham, Dennis. A Buffalo native, btw.)
  5. Who's the highest paid QB on the team, Fitz or Brohm? If it saves Ralph a few buck, I'm all for it.
  6. Well, they did pick up Kirk Chambers. (You're correct. That is quite a suck list.)
  7. Agreed. I just don't believe it is simply "being tricky" and fooling people in pre-season scrimmages. It's far more than that, as you said. On the design part: running slant patterns and crossing patterns underneath the linebackes ... shocking stuff!
  8. Disagree. Sure the play design is light-years beyond the remedial stuff Jauron ran, but the play calling is better as well. Plays are called to set up future plays and there is an actual progression and plan. It's not just doing the same handful of plays over and over again until the defense perfects crushing them into the dirt.
  9. I'm still trying to figure out how San Diego trading Vincent Jackson is an insult to Buffalo.
  10. There is still plenty of things to correct, but you got it. There really isn't a substitute for having a coach on the sideline that actually understands how to conduct an offense.
  11. Bud Adams was flipping off the Buffalo Bills in that video.
  12. Sheesh, I even put a smiley. It's called exaggeration, numbnuts.
  13. Yes, the "Law" that applies to an individual (until it is broken and one comes up with some other way to hand wave) so we can feel good that we don't have to suffer someone like Parcells turning the Bills fortunes around. BTW, the first 4 picks of the BP Dolphins era were: LT, DE, QB, DE. Yes, what an idiot. Long, Merling, Henne, and Langford don't see all that horrible for guys going into their 3rd year. I mean if we're supposed to wait 5-6 years for Maybinot , why rush to judgment on the Porpoise picks?
  14. So, you were trying to imply that hiring Mike Shanahan would have been a bad move because if he was hired here then some sort of Albert Haynesworth scenario could have and may even have been likely to develop.
  15. Oh, I'm not saying Mr. Wilson wants to lose or doesn't care. I think he honestly hopes that he does get lucky and things do work out this (last?) time around. That's a far cry from saying he is going to leverage his team to the hilt, pursue an array of marketing avenues to raise his revenue, build new facilities or move the team to gain revenue, make big name hires in the front office and coaching, dive into free agency with zest, and so on and on.
  16. Just seems like one of the extremes. In the draft, you can take a one-year wonder, a guy who some think is a freak athlete who has (near) zero football experience and instincts and hope to coach him up into an excellent player. At the other extreme, you can draft a high motor guy who is limited athletically but has worked extremely hard to wring every last ounce out of his God given talent. You don't need to coach him up, but he's not going to get much better than he is when he walks into the complex that first day.
  17. Still, taking on that debt at his age and with the likely scenario that the team is going up for sale upon his passing would only serve to drive down the value of the team. The business is being run in the short-term to maximize cash flow and keep debt as low as possible. Mr. Wilson isn't going to sell a minority interest either at this point -- he doesn't have to and doesn't want the headaches after being the sole proprieter since the beginning. Even after estate taxes, the Wilson family will be set up for life. Not a bad legacy to give your children and grandchildren at all. Couple that with the legacy that Mr. Wilson was forever loyal to the Buffalo community and Bills fans.
  18. The compelling reason would be if the team had better young talent at his position. Rather than throw away a legit prospect for fear of letting go of someone that's struggling but young and raw, cutting your losses and developing the better player makes more football sense. (Edit: like what happened to Brian Brohm in Green Bay when he was outplayed by Flynn despite Brohm being drafted earlier and having nice press clippings.) This post is not implying that the Bills have a wealth of talent at 3-4 OLB. They don't.
  19. Is it possible to move "Off The Wall" off the wall? Saves some screen real estate. I'm not a big fan of having to scroll down even time I load the page.
  20. Cash flow is a very important metric when selling a business however.
  21. Have to disagree with this misrepresentation that Gailey "built" Georgia Tech football. Gailey had a lower winner percentage than the guy before him (.612 to .579) and lower than the guy after him (.692 to .579). Sorry. It's no mystery why no one else made Nix their GM over the years. He is a football head, sure. But, as his comment about the Raiders showed, he lacks a certain public image polish that most organizations want from the public face of their organization. His overt peevishness at the media about the head coaching search is another example.
  22. Why is this surprising to anyone? Given the age of the owner and that his family doesn't want the team after he passes on, why would Mr. Wilson not be positioning the team for sale?
