  1. What'd they say about Dick Jauron?
  2. Have to agree with those that said the franchise crashed and burned last year. They started the season in complete chaos and total disarray as many have noted. This year, the W-L record may be even worse, but there is a sense that there are some people around that are going to honestly try to put out the fires rather than run around with bags of marshmellows and singing "Happy Days Are Here Again". Have to agree with Sully on the Modrak point though. You are how you draft and the Bills draft history under this guy has been putrid. I realize Dick Jauron had his say in the war room (and have been saying it all along), but at some point someone in the organization needs to evaluate Modrak's input into the process and figure out why the Bills collectively have drafted some big time busts this past decade. If Modrak's input and function is nothing more than to go along with whatever the prevailing winds are in the war room, it's high time to move in a different direction and let someone else -- Whaley? -- have a real go at the job.
  3. Did you know that the Jackets never threw a pass in that game?
  4. His name even sorta fits the Swinging Members motif...
  5. They could be inconsequential if one focuses like a laser beam on the 0-0 standings before the first game is played.
  6. I'm not sure you actually looked at Schefter's picks.
  7. He's better than Duke Preston. On the other hand, that's not saying anything.
  8. Yeah, but if you take a snapshot of today's records, there is absolutely no difference between Shanahan and any other coach in the NFL.
  9. Well, he got a raw deal because he was The Man when he was at Michigan, unlike Tom Brady who had to hire a shrink because Brian Griese kept him nailed to the pine, but look how things turned out. Brady is now talked about as a Hall of Famer, has all this gold plated hardware, the big contract, kids by various supermodels, adoring fans around the globe. And poor Todd Collins just keeps on keeping on toting that clipboard.
  10. Did you get this from this reputable source? http://www.benchjaycutler.com/
  11. No, Bisc. The point was that Leinart didn't even make his team's roster. Ranking him higher than anyone else was a joke.
  12. With what Carroll is doing in Seattle, I could easily see the Seahawks in the hunt for a top 3 draft pick next year. Mangini wasn't ready to come out of the oven, but he has an excellent mentor in the building now. He may figure out the job yet. He's not a moron. Spagnuolo shouldn't be ranked last. He's a better coach that some others, but he's working with a short deck.
  13. Carolina is ranked pretty high. Their QB situation isn't really that much better than ours. In fact, they just did a huge cost cutting purge.
  14. Why is anyone interested in yours?
  15. Not sure what the kudos are for exactly. Surely it can't be to the old regime of Jauron/Levy/Brandon who exited the stage with a losing record, no All Pro players, and a lack of depth. The new regime? For cleaning house on a bad team? What's hard about that? Of the starters, the new regime brought in 1 guy on offense and 3 on defense. All 4 of these were bargain bin free agents. I am hoping that Spiller can become a difference maker and anticipate he'll force his way on the field sooner rather than later. It's kind of sad that former 1st round picks like Lynch, McCargo, and McKelvin are backups. Parrish is another high pick that should be in the prime of his career at this point. Brohm is still at 3rd string. Well, at least Donte Whitner won his job back. Kudos to Twitner.
  16. Not so much. His brain farts on special teams cost him. Loads of talent there... not.
  17. And now that Leinart is being cut, he stands ahead of no one that starts...
  18. The guy couldn't beat out Roy Williams.
  19. Or maybe not. One way of taking it is that Mr. Matthews wouldn't be happy with Trent leading the team to several more 7-9 to 9-7 type seasons. That Mr. Matthews thinks the team needs a major upgrade at the QB position and the best way to contend for a championship is to have a great, franchise QB. In that sense, if "all goes well" the Bills get there opportunity to draft such a QB, he pans out, and in a few years the Bills are hoisting a Lombardi Trophy and this board crashes... (sorry, SDS.)
  20. True enough. Teams will take a younger and cheaper guy with less talent over an older and more expensive player. It's the business side of the business.
  21. This is fugly times in Bills country. On and off the field.
  22. I get what you are saying, but I think you were probably more on the mark in your first post. The 2 Steeler QBs are nowhere near close, and Clayton just put them both in as individuals rather than muddy his list. I think fans are going to scan the list to see where their QB is ranked and either be happy, indifferent, or annoyed and defensive. I still don't like ranking a "?" in a list against individuals, and certainly not ahead of other individuals. Suffices to say, I wouldn't have written the article that way. Thanks for the discussion.
  23. Interesting thought, Bisc. Many more fans would probably be carrying pitchforks if Edwards had been drafted that high given the same level of production. It's an ugly mess as it is.
