  1. Clearly they needed a guy to wear a suit and tie on the sideline instead of, oh say, a TE that could block AND run routes.
  2. Apparently. The new rationalization is "Well, when you can't find any good players, you might as well reward top dollar to a complete stiff that hasn't been arrested."
  3. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/120236-why-is-troupe-not-being-used/
  4. Looks different when you remove the guys that played DE most/all of their careers (or in college for the rooks) and guys on IR. Not to mention Pos is constantly injured, Ellison is a LB/S tweener, and Torbor is listed as a DE on nfl.com.
  5. Really, guys. I'd rather be tea bagged.
  6. The thing is he was drafted by the last dynamic duo as a character guy who would be the cornerstone and leader of their defense. By their own admission, they were trying to be ahead of the curve, think out of the box, and build an elite team around a great safety that would elevate the team. 3.5 seasons later, both Dick and Marv were gone. That doesn't correct the mistake, but it speaks volumes about the quality of the decisions they made. Of course, it's not Donte's fault that he's just another guy at a position that has almost no effect on the W-L column when a team can't control the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball. It's not his fault that he's always been an undersized box safety and was poorly scouted as being something he isn't.
  7. Trent Edwards deserves another chance too.
  8. Well, old school thinking is that you don't play rookies because they'll cost you games.
  9. There is really no reason to "tack" him to the ground ... then again he does play like a cardboard cut out, so maybin tacking him to the carpet so he didn't just blow away.
  10. A 4-2-5 with 2 safeties playing LB? Why the confusion?
  11. Maybe Fitz knows what he is looking at and help the OL get in the right protections.
  12. No worries. It's year 0, or maybe year -2, of the build...
  13. The 15th in run defense is an improvement over last year, but being tied for 32nd best in points against isn't so hot.
  14. Maybe he looks better in a suit and tie.
  15. I think the word is "electric". Any way that you slice it, starting a from-the-dirt-up build job by painting the sheet rock first is an odd way to go.
  16. Maybe if he hides behind Whitner in the secondary... The guy was a high first-round pick who has made no impact whatsoever. He was drafted as a defensive lineman, where one has to beat the guy they are lined up against at least half the time to be considered average. All this stuff about getting his hand off the ground and playing different positions is nothing but blowing smoke to hide that the guy is a huge liability on the field. The only question now is how long and how much the Bills are planning to extend him.
  17. They may be trying to see how much they should give Stroud when they extend him.
  18. I would've thought the "Meredith Has First Round Talent" campaign would have swung through the thread for a couple drive-bys before now...
  19. One doesn't have to be a rocket sturgeon to realize that playing a 3-4 defense without any linebackers isn't so much "being creative" as it is being stone-headed.
  20. But, Chan said he is a pass rushing specialist.
  21. It changes things when the defense has to consider that the QB might throw the ball more than 5 yards. No question about it.
  22. This may be proof that the Bills do not self scout.
  23. I agree. In the grand scheme of things, there are many more important things. That's why I cringe when I read death wishes for the owner and such. On the other hand, this is a Buffalo Bills football forum, so it seems 100% appropriate to B word about the dysfunctional Bills here. Given the accumulated results of so many failed decisions in recent years, it's getting harder and harder to find bright spots to go Polyanna on.
