  1. I was wondering the same thing. He was a good NFL HC in Dallas. Not a superstar, but he did OK. He was a good NCAA HC in Atlanta. Not a superstar, but he did OK. Like Nix said when he introduced Chan, the guy has won everywhere.
  2. It's just not true that schools in conferences that are not "BCS Automatics" try to "duck" schools that are in those conferences. It's kind of hilarious to hear the heavy dose of hypocrisy that an Ohio St. doesn't have the flexibility to schedule some school because they have to play their conference schedule but that TCU is "ducking good teams" with total disregard that they also play in a conference and have a conference schedule. It's a fact that teams like South Florida, East Carolina, Fresno, Boise, etc. have pursued trying to schedule teams from the automatic conferences in the past. But, there are always the "scheduling issues" and many of the so-called "elite programs" in the automatic conferences simply don't want the headache of scheduling a school that will give them problems on the field, there just isn't any good incentive to schedule a solid team from a "minor conference" that could knock you out of a major bowl and the Big Money. The "ducking" comes from the other side -- those that have everything to lose and nothing to gain. Simply put: Ohio St. would rather play Youngstown.
  3. Jairus is not finding the transition to everything Edwards was installing in their defensive packages to be trivial, like it was last year. He's basically going through his rookie growing pains now.
  4. And here I thought he was just trying to pass himself off as somehow superior because he falsely assumes that he knows the feelings of other fans he's never met and hasn't a firetrucking clue about.
  5. I think the Steelers will level it out. It's a big step up to the big boys this week.
  6. You realize that Johnson, Nelson, and Jones represent a set of WRs that were drafted in the 7th round or who went undrafted, right? No need to pull a Matt Millen in the next draft.
  7. Well, he did have a point. The first half wasn't pretty by any stretch. But, he forgot that they were playing the Bengals; and, as constant as gravity, a Mike Brown team can always implode spectacularly.
  8. I know. I was agreeing with you.
  9. WRT Netwon, there are rumors that he dug himself a pretty big hole off the field (as I'm sure you know) and more than just a misunderstanding about "a laptop gift" and a couple of homework assignments eaten by his pet hampster. (And, yes, in contrast Masoli's many repeated failures are a matter of public record as he was actually arrested, etc.)
  10. Jeremiah Masoli won't get drafted highly, but he's another QB that left a high profile program to QB an SEC West team under, shall we say, somewhat irregular circumstances.
  11. Probably should have stuck with Jauron as well.
  12. Or wait and pick him up after he crashes, burns, and grows up.
  13. This thread reminds me of those that wanted to Bills to make a play for Tom Brady after he won his first Super Bowl on the idea that the Patriots would go back to Bledsoe. Maybe history repeats itself and the Bills make a deal to get Kevin Kolb.
  14. Kugler's line in Pittsburgh didn't look all that hot this week.
  15. A wrinkle for you Winkle... some of these picks could have been had with trade downs, which means the Bills could've moved back in the draft and got even more bodies. Of course, Buddy Nix doesn't like trading draft picks, "Some of those guys I don’t know how they know where the hell they draft."
  16. The idea was far more likely to find a way to get Aaron Maybin on the field and get more out of that particular investment (boondoggle). It wouldn't be surprising in the least if the orders came from higher up to get Maybin on the field. Edit: The other likely scenario, that Gailey just preferred to run the 3-4 was already mentioned above. The troubling part about it being purely a coaching decision is that many people could see that the Bills didn't have the right personnel to make the switch. So, that sort of goes back to the decision being less about purely coaching concerns. Remember, Russ Brandon was GM when Aaron Maybin was drafted.
  17. They drew parallels between the latest victory over Detroit and going to the Super Bowl and winning the AFL championship. I kid not.
  18. Right. McIntyre is a huge threat as a receiver.
  19. Our lack of TE and FB may have been what deluded the coaches into thinking Kelsay was a capable OLB.
  20. I think the best the Bills could do is finish in a tie with New England at 8-8 (assuming the Bills go perfect and the Patriots lose out except for the Jets game); but, the Patriots hold the tie breaker (if I'm not mistaken). If the Jets sweep the Patriots, then the Bills cannot win the division. So, yeah. The Bills look like they cannot win the division mathematically and their only chance would be to make it as an 8-8 wildcard after a host of teams meltdown.
  21. I have my suspicions as to exactly how it will go down, but I may yet be surprised.
  22. But the Bills "success rate" isn't.
  23. Mike Vick 2.0.
