  1. Maybe. Maybinot. OK, so you are either thinking that ARI or DEN will lose so bad that the NFL will deduct a W from their total, or you are assuming the Bills are going to win.
  2. Doc, what do you think about a BPA at WR?
  3. http://www.gbnreport.com/weeklydraftorder.html Presently, the Bills draft 4th. Edit: Besides, isn't Cam Newton at the top of the "One Hit Wonder" list?
  4. Same deal with QBs. Great QBs and LTs are just extremely hard to find. There have been many debates here that use Tom Brady as the key example of why one doesn't have to draft an elite QB high. But, the reality is that elite players tend to be taken at the very top of the draft. There are exceptions, obviously, but the chances of success in trying to find Hall-of-Famers in the later rounds goes down significantly. Scouts don't get every player right, but as a general trend, the best players go early.
  5. Want to talk about RB or WR? The Bills have spent high picks on RB with Henry, McGahee, Lynch, and Spiller. They've also spent high picks on WR with Reed, Evans, Parrish, and Hardy. And for the counter-argument: they did take Mike Williams, JP Losman, and Aaron Maybin at the key positions of QB, LT, and DE. What a mess.
  6. I'd advise against going the route of personal attacks and long-distance mind-reading of other posters with your posts. It gives you no credibility whatsoever. Kelsay is a horrible OLB. He is also a below average DE. He has his moments, and if you want to call those occasions "infinitely better" then please do so. But, don't get all butt hurt if some people laugh at your assessments. The Bills are the worst team in the league against the run and have played both the 3-4 and 4-3 to get there. But, yeah, the problem is the alignment.
  7. I can't decide if you're more excited to see Hillis truck Posluszny or fake him out of his jock.
  8. If they want to continue to recycle the team Jauron built, then they should play the Tampa-2 as that is the system he was selecting players to play in. If they actually want to build a stout defense that can stop the run, they'll have to make a lot of changes to the defensive front 7, because the players that Jauron left behind simply aren't good enough. "Kelsay = Good"?
  9. Not so fast. The guy that supposedly pulled the trigger was fired, or so we've been told. The owner is the same person he's always been. The GM at the time was promoted. The VP of college scouting is the same guy. The scouting department is the same with a few deck chairs slid around, except the National Scout got promoted and a new National Scout was hired. So, the "people that scouted and drafted" a guy that looks like a long-distance runner on 'roids to play DE are almost all still here.
  10. Nah. Clearly, since Modrak only gets input into the 7th round, the Bills should trade down continuously and gather as many 7th round picks as they can. If it is possible to trade 7th rounders for UDFAs, they should do that too. (I kid.)
  11. You didn't mention Stroud who, along with Kelsay, opened up a hole big enough for the Rockettes to high kick in formation through. Still, it looks like Posluszny was supposed to read and fill that gap, but he grossly overplays to his right, to the point where he seeks out and even engages with a lineman. WTF? He compounds that by taking a ridiculously bad angle to Peterson and ends up leaving his jock on the field. Whitner comes up hard and runs directly into the path of the WR, making it as easy as possible for the WR to chip him out of the play. So, that's epic fail on all 3 levels. Of course, McKelvin is playing the WR and by the time he realizes its a run, it's over.
  12. Watch Poz on that play.
  13. There are plenty of 22 year olds that can't play DE in the NFL right along with Maybin. Only one team can pick him up at a time. Do you seriously think Maybin is going to get 5 to 10 more chances to prove he can't get it done? Put it this way, what would you trade to get Vernon Gholston on the Bills? Add: Gholston actually has a thicker body type than Maybin.
  14. Merriman was brought in to lock down the IR LB position after Kawika was dumped.
  15. The point simply was that it certainly doesn't read like someone who was against the Maybin pick and thought it was a big mistake. For sure, Modrak's smart enough to play the company line and all, but the revisionist historians want it that he knew Maybin was a mistake. Yet, when the Bills drafted Maybin, he said point blank: "made it [a] good [pick] for us." Yet, the leak that he'd have rather drafted Cushing was after Cushing won rookie of the year. I guess this just pegs my CYA hot air meter. Thanks. We're just talking ball here. Kyle Williams looks like he is developing into an excellent player. (I'd have put Jason Peters on your list, as he could've been a great one, though the Bills cut him at one point, so it's not like they knew what they had in the beginning and he eventually forced his way out.) Stevie Johnson, if he continues to develop, may be a real good one. The rest are JAGs. So, the numbers don't really support the idea that the Bills are finding better talent in the later rounds of the draft (and as UDFAs). Rather, the 6th and 7th rounders are logging a lot of playing time because the Bills are bad and the top picks are largely non-contributing. It really speaks to just how bad their overall drafting and team building has been: they must play late round picks, UDFAs, and waiver wire cast-offs because they have so many holes and so many misses that there simply isn't anyone else.
  16. Again, I ask what hits? (I realize that there have been a few good players, but it just isn't true that the Bills are landing 3 or 4 7th round All-Pros a draft.) This sounds like the opposite to me. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/bills-take-pass-rusher-maybin/14658d98-47ca-4db6-9944-c260ae5e98e9
  17. Most of their top picks are contributing, actually. Chung, Vollmer, Mayo, Meriweather, Mankins, Wilfork, Warren... The flaw in looking at just the body count is that the Patriots are already a good team. They don't need to keep every draft pick. They only need to keep the ones that are better than the good players they already have.
  18. Him paired up with Peyton Manning or Tom Brady is a very scary thought.
  19. This team wasn't a great fit for CJ and his production is pretty paltry. The logjam at his position and confounded inability of the front office to resolve it quickly and decisively didn't help anything. The OL just isn't that good and has been banged up from the beginning, there was a QB change in September, etc. all making it hard to develop any sort of screen game, which CJ was devastating in at Clemson. The running game that I think Chan had envisioned back in July and August just never got very far off the ground. Finally, there aren't many counter-weapons on offense to open things up for Spiller either. Still, his speed cannot be coached and there is still a chance that Spiller could be productive. The situation looks like someone put a pair of mag wheels on their beater car.
  20. This argument sounds like people looking under the last rock to find something to prop up Modrak's record. Edit: Specifically, they have to play *somebody*. So, just finding bodies that fill out the lineup isn't a very high bar. It's a bar pseudopods can leap over.
  21. And, again, I watched the same game and stand by what I wrote. Clausen is far from a finished product and he wasn't seeing the field well. Of course, a few blown plays don't mean he is completely talentless or that he will never develop beyond where he is now, but it also means that the next regime in Carolina may look at the tape and decide not to roll the dice with their new jobs and bet on either Clausen and/or Moore as their franchise QBs. Making plays out of an unclean pocket and situational awareness are part of the job.
  22. Talking about pansies, some of these Jets defensive players are shying away from contact big time and loafing around like nobody's business. Wow. Seriously, why not just lie on the ground and lick some Patriot cleats?
  23. What's up with this new Tom Brady always screaming at his teammates? Is he drunk or something? Get a haircut.
  24. You have to go back and watch the tape.
