  1. Can we quote you on this if he should become a Hall-of-Fame player down the road?
  2. There are holes on this roster everywhere. While I would've liked to add a legit NFL OT at that spot, they also need to address a terrible defense and continue to bring in guys that can function in a 3-4 defense. In order to accomplish that, they do have to change out the secondary from the Tampa-2 parts Jauron left them with. They really need LBs, and they look to have gotten a good one in the 3rd round. Again, I'd like to see a Sam backer so I don't have to see Kelsay's overtly spastic flailing and flopping, but you can't fix everything on this roster with 2 or 3 draft picks. For a positive spin, suppose they honestly do feel good about some of the OL dumpster diving they did last year and that they can put together a functional line with the cast-offs and retreads they already have. Or, they could also try to address the OL in free agency, but let's hope they steer clear of trying to recycle the Raiders trash again.
  3. Actually, the scouting reports suggest that he is not very physical for being the size he is. "He's a first round talent but plays weaker than he should and has lapses in his technique." It does seem like the kids coming out of Mack Brown's program lack a certain hunger or something. Hopefully Williams breaks that mold.
  4. If he can actually run down hill, shed a blocker, and make a play, then he's a big upgrade.

  7. The money rounds begin. Time to pick up some starters now.
  8. Finding and developing good secondary players isn't really the problem; you're right.

  10. Sounds like a second rounder in this draft.
  11. Thanks for taking the time to state the obvious. To return the favor: The scouts do the scouting. They make the scouting reports. It is the data from the scouting reports that is compiled and used to give the grades. The grades on the players are how the head scout and GM set their draft board. So, yeah, there is no way that a scout that recommended drafting Trent Edwards might recommend drafting the next guy that plays just like Trent Edwards because, of all things, Trent was drafted in the 3rd round.
  12. Sorry, Bill. You know it's a given by now though.
  13. Can't know who you might get, as BN puts it.
  14. Remember the Bills drafted Trent Edwards and had much the same scouting staff.
  15. Just rub some dirt on it.
  16. Haven't you heard coaches say, "You can never have too many scatbacks," before?
  17. Not really. He's better than some of the guys that went in the 1st, IMO, but if his knee is shot then ... free fallin'.
  18. Ahem. Are you a contortionist? Just wondering.
  19. They are quoting Jay Glazer. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/42802989/ns/sports-player_news/
  20. Agreed. All the reaches in the first in addition to the huge run on DL left a lot of talent on the board.
  21. I was really thinking he'd come out and say he did a poor job so far and his team is regressing like a runaway train. OK, maybe not.
  22. only not quite as fast. <rimshot>
  23. Yeah, it's clear the Lions aren't being run by Matt Millen any longer... good for them.
  24. I'm going to disagree. Kaepernick has major downside.
