Bingo. In specifics, many extremely talented football players fail in the NFL not because of a lack of talent but because they just don't figure it out. Every player drafted in the last 3 days has talent, but most will not make it. The window is small and they have to seize the opportunity. It's not enough to be the best athlete on the field, for one thing it is probably no longer true. And too often these kids think they've "done it, mission accomplished" when they get drafted, not realizing that it has only really just begun and they haven't seen anything yet.

Too bad the Bills didn't bother to address the run defense with this draft. Could've used some good, tough football players from the Southeast, but no ...

Sure that is enough +'s? On one hand, picking the guy most people thought was the best player in the entire draft isn't exactly rocket science. On the other hand, the Bills didn't !@#$ this one up. Given their renowned abilities to do the latter, they deserve an A for not stepping on their member with this one.

Buddy Nix scouted and coached in the Southeast. Chan Gailey's last head coaching gig was in the ACC, where he and some of the Bills assistants recruited.

It's kind of curious how many were on Gailey's Senior Bowl roster as well. Now that we're almost in the 7th round, maybe they should let Modrak out of the men's room?

Speaking of ridiculous, your straw-man that "we're throwing Wang out" is ridiculous. Other than you, nobody said we're going to throw him away. People are skeptical he is going to be a quality player and we have reasons that you didn't address at all.

Skeptical is a good word. The OL was decimated with injuries last year and the Bills brought people in off the street rather than let him on the field. Wang fans may find it hard to give up on him. But, there is plenty of reason to be skeptical that he is an answer. BTW, the Packers had a few injuries last year, and they got their rookies on the field, and those rookies contributed to a Super Bowl winning season. Maybe this idea that that one has to wait several years to start to form any sort of idea is a tad outdated when much of the league's depth is comprised of very young players.

Not trying to burst any bubbles, but (sticking up a bit for the) Wang was considered a good prospect for both OT positions as soon as he was drafted. Here's to hoping this guy develops into something...

The approach Buddy is using isn't that difficult to figure out. He's going with the slow, steady, conservative approach. "It's going to take 3 or 4 years." They are trying to draft the best football player on his board each time they go on the clock. "I don't care what anyone thinks." The plan so far has counted on Chan Gailey to coach the offense he has, while they scuttle the Tampa-2 defense and build a new 3-4 defense from the ground up. "No. We're a 3-4 team and we ain't switchin'."

Did the Bills even had Mallett on their board? The thing about Mallett is that Belichick must've really liked the guy's football head. We all know Mallett has some off the charts ability when it comes to throwing a football. So, putting that talent together with the motivation of being snubbed, going to a stable franchise with a Hall-of-Fame QB already on the roster, etc. I have to think this worked out as a best case scenario for both Mallett and the Patriots. He gets some time to adjust and work on his weaknesses and if he can be properly motivated, the Patriots will reap the rewards down the road.
