  1. Well, an addict knows a lot more about drugs than the average joe, so his decision making ability must be superior.
  2. One could make a case that if Maybin was even a mediocre player, the Bills would've forced him into the rotation and he might still even be on the roster if he had shown even a glimmer of hope or progress.
  3. I'm not outraged. In fact, I think it was obvious that he was gone when they didn't give him a chance with the 1st string. The problem is it is reminiscent of the Langston Walker move. There are some differences, but the team looks pretty weak at OL to start with and an injury or three is virtually a lock to happen. What then? Sure, they don't want to pay a backup more money, but good teams know you have to have depth. The Packers had depth last year and were able to play through injuries. What happens if Levitre and Wood get injured? How long does Fitz stay alive behind Reinhart, Brown, and Urbik? PS: And if Fitz gets banged up, who is comfortable with Thigpen starting?
  4. "Has a good reputation in the front office," is rather vague, isn't it? He's an average DE at his best and yet the Bills can't find a way forward past him. Makes you wonder what he actually does for that reputation. Get someone's coffee, donuts, and dry cleaning? Stay late turning off the lights to save Ralph some coin?
  5. Yeah, but Bill Belichick praised Dick Jauron.
  6. Like an extra 3rd round pick.
  7. I agree Robo. They've been swinging the ax heavily... OTOH, it depends on what you consider a "mistake". The Bills roster is far from stacked. Hopefully some of the new kids aren't just more error maybins.
  8. On the bright side, Geoff Hangartner should get a new gig soon.
  9. Some ex-Bills... James Hardy (WR) cut. Anthony Hargrove (DE) cut. Xavier Omon (RB) cut. Pierson Prioleau (S) cut. Alvin Bowen (LB) cut. Ellis Lankster (CB) cut.
  10. Well, maybe in their last minute deliberations they forgot #83 isn't Lee Evans.

  12. What? Who ever said he doesn't do exactly what he is told? 'He has no inout' 'He does what he is told.' What's not to "get"? I'm not making any "leaps" here. He wrote what he wrote. Overdorf has no input and makes no decisions is precisely what was written. BTW, there is a contradiction, and I am well aware of it. The person that negotiates the contracts unequivocally has input to the process. Overdorf is involved; I have no ambition to claim otherwise.
  13. You really should follow the context. I was asking questions about what NGU wrote. I wasn't "making big jumps" at all. NGU wrote that Overdorf does nothing, has no authority, and even has no input. Hate to break it to you but I was one of the people that saw the writing on the wall over a year ago. People beat me up about it then and said he was untradable. Well, they were wrong. You haven't a clue what I actually think about how the situation went down. But, I don't drink the Kool-Aid, don't buy the mouthpiece talk, and do enjoy playing Devil's advocate on occasion.
  14. Does Overdorf report to Nix directly?
  15. Something doesn't add up. The guy that handles the cap and player contracts has no input into the biggest liability of the business? So basically, you are saying he is nothing but a puppet. That would imply that he could not have handled a trade or really done much of anything without someone else pulling his strings and pointing him to the right boxes in the spreadsheet then? The next question would be why would someone want to set the record absolutely straight about a guy who's role is nothing more than a puppet? In fact, wouldn't this act take some ire off Overdorf and redirect it towards the puppet master?
  16. Concussions build up over time and ebb and flow with the alignment of the planets, so it's rather straightforward to see how the Arizona concussion gave him a groin injury and affected his play prior to that fateful day.
  17. Or, maybe he just needed to get hit like that more frequently. His best game as a NFL QB was the next one after that "fateful day in Arizona."
  18. Might still be kicking around near LA...
  19. But I read that brilliant coaching helped him run high and wide around stiff, camp fodder lineman that couldn't move their feet ... guys from Coastal Carolina trying to make an NFL team for example.
  20. I can't believe I'm getting into this again, but Trent sucked way before that game. Check his stats, he wasn't exactly lighting it up for 300+ yds/3 td games before then. The Bills wins in their 5-1 start that year were all against teams that ended up 8-8 or worse. And they won those games despite Edwards' play, not because of it (once again, check the stats). Obviously it's impossible to know, but I think Edwards' career would've been exactly the same without the concussion. Well, he had 2 things going for him. The back of his jersy didn't have the letters LOSMAN on it Many Bills fans were quite content to watch him dump off the hot potato between the 20s As far as him being good, Dick Jauron bet his career on the kid. 'Nuff said.
  21. Interesting thread. Seems like people have found a whipping boy or two.
  22. On the other hand, how many plausible general takes on the state of the NFL are there anyway? Should they have a lottery and assign each sports writer a unique given permutation of how the teams will finish before the season starts and make it the analyst's job to force fit the facts towards their assigned vision of bogosity? It could be a challenge actually if an analyst got assigned a permutation with, say, the Bengals, Bills, Browns, and Panthers as the elite Super Bowl teams and the Packers, Steelers, Patriots, and Saints as the doormats of the NFL. On the third hand, not sure anyone with a modicum of objectivity would put much stock in such an article, but it would earn the analyst a spot on the approved expert and great writer lists, no doubt.
  23. But they never wore their ball caps backwards.
  24. It doesn't matter what you make.
