  1. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/ryan-fitzpatricks-wonderlic-score-what-does-it-mean/2011/10/20/gIQAvz51GM_story.html Actually, maybe he is too intelligent.
  2. A year away from winning a championship? Cool. Ralph might even see it.
  3. Not everyone can have as many assists as Ropati Pitoitua.
  4. Too bad Roscoe is on IR. I'd like to see 'scoe make a few pancakes. (Seriously though, I don't expect to see AM much at all.)
  5. You're right. Jamon Meredith will be a Pro Bowler this year. (Not surprised the original joke slipped through your fingers though.) For what it's worth, Pears was a street free agent. Urbik was picked up off waivers. Wood was a 1st round pick. Levitre was a 2nd round pick. Bell was a 7th round pick. Hairston was a 4th round pick. Even Reinhart, who comes the closest, was a street free agent pickup having been released by the Jets the previous week off their practice squad.
  6. And if you really want crowd noise, you could buy a ticket.
  7. You mean there is no practice squad to raid?
  8. There once was a time when a player had to hold onto the ball to the whistle or it was a fumble. None of this "ground can't cause a fumble" or "we think the QB was sort of between throwing the ball and not throwing the ball" sorts of judgment calls. But, it does make the game more exciting when the act of fumbling is a potential controversy. Ironically though, they've done the reverse in pass catching rules, where now catching the ball isn't enough. A catch is only a catch if the continuation of the play also involves a "lack of ball wiggling", even if the player is down and getting back to his feet in the back of the endzone.
  9. Not much of one, though. If it hadn't been for the unveiling of the Tom Brady Tuck Rule, he'd may just have gotten Al Davis another Lombardi. BTW, what coach is a perfectly straight shooter at all times with every one of his players? I seem to recall a certain DT for the Raiders not being too pleased with Bill Belichick, and more than a few players angry at Bill Parcells... I guess to answer my question, Tony Dungy is very honest, though he might hold back a bit rather than crush a player's ego with the cold, brutal truth.
  10. Unfortunately, putting the emphasis on "being a personality" over talking football in football terms (a.k.a. dumbing it down for the dumb masses) really detracts from the broadcasts. You don't need to hire an ex-coach to be a stand-up comedian.
  11. You realize that Houston and Charlotte are not located in Florida, right? And why would anyone think football has no market in Texas? All those Lombardi trophies the Browns have won since the merger made all the difference, for sure.
  12. The flip side of that coin is that he built the Raiders team that they played against, not Callahan, and that team declined rapidly after he was traded to Tampa. BTW, Tampa wasn't really in a steady decline, as they made the playoffs 3 years and had losing records 3 years of the 7 Gruden coached there. That entire division just whipsawed back and forth year to year. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/tam/
  13. The way he is playing, the Bills scammed the Seahawks for that 4th.
  14. On the upside for the Bills, he was in coverage on both of Chandler's touchdowns.
  15. Do they count sacks of popcorn served in the box seats?
  16. Beck should've stuck to the guitar thing.
  17. Chris Watson?? That's like putting JP Losman on the list. "He made a couple of nice throws." Or Dick Jauron. "He's just as good as Belichick."
  18. John Beck is not Donovan McNabb.
  19. That was actually a criticism leveled at Buddy immediately after the '11 draft. The argument was that while he got Dareus, he didn't finish the job in the 2nd round, but instead scratched that CB itch.
  20. This is a good question actually. There was another joke thread about how Curtis Modkins was the real brains behind the offense because he has the title offensive coordinator. No one with a clue would believe Modkins runs the Bills offense. Yet, by the same logic, there are many that lay the blame for all the defensive problems at the shoes of Edwards because he carries the title defensive coordinator and view Wannstedt, the assistant head coach, as a savior that is just chilling in the cooler on a block of ice, disengaged so far yet perfect for the job. And that gets more to the OP... How is Buddy and Chan's plan of switching to the 3-4 defense looking at this point? It was as plain as the nose on his face that the Bills didn't have the players to run the 3-4 effectively, having been stocked with undersized Tampa-2 defenders by Dick Jauron and Marv Levy for 4 years. So, a successful switch required loading up on players that could play the 3-4 in the NFL and since the draft was the primary/only way to obtain new players... So far, the first draft class isn't exactly overachieving. (I do agree that something had to be done, since the Tampa-2 wasn't working, btw.)
  21. You'd have got more laughs if you tried using the designer of the new uniforms as the key to this season's early success.
