  1. Not being technically eliminated from the playoffs.
  2. Aaron Williams was ranked the worst CB in the NFL. On the other hand, Routt sounds like a guy that thinks rules are optional. The Bills defense probably can tolerate a few guys that know how to make it up as they go though.
  3. Who is Nixs?
  4. Add: Jim Harbaugh declined to even interview with the Bills.
  5. Sacks are an almost useless statistic. Big Ben has how many sacks and how many Super Bowl rings? Timing is everything, and there is such a thing as rushing the play. If the ball is getting out in less than 2 seconds, that means there is no time for the play to develop at all. There may not be a sack, but there is no chance of pushing the ball down the field in that short of time. Is a quick dump-off for 1 or 2 yards better than taking a chance? PS: Not saying that trying to extend every play like Big Ben was doing is the greatest thing either. It sure does seem like forever ago when the Bills had Jim Kelly leading a truly good offense though.
  6. Maybe they can lure Roy Williams out of retirement.
  7. Probably just another Cordy Glenn move where Buddy's outsmarting everyone in the NFL.

  10. He was getting a lot of calls at the time. Maybe posting his cell phone number with "For a good time call..." in the rest room on I-90 wasn't such a great plan.
  11. He trusts his pre-snap reads too much and gets baited into throwing into coverages that he didn't think were there. The resulting interceptions, incompletions, and failed 3rd down conversions do help keep the sack tally low though. Finally, the lack of accuracy nips completions in the bud even when his read may be right. The problem with rolling him out is that it takes time for a roll out to develop and cuts down the field. Since the passing game is limited to the short and quick, that would play against what they have been doing.
  12. Just a matter of time before Luck ends up in Denver.
  13. What is more hilarious is that the 1st round RBs the Bills draft hit their prime after they are traded for 4th rounders.
  14. Bingo. It's hard to win in the NFL. And under Chan, it's been the least frequent this millenium.
  15. It's hard to take a name like that seriously.
  16. Ralph is cheap. A team does get a ton of kickoff return opportunities when they are getting blown out of the stadium.
  17. I recall Tom Modrak personally scouting 6 or so Missouri games and being rather enamored with Gabbert.
  18. I don't disagree that the Ducks recruit good players for their system. A lot of that has to do with success on the field (and maybe Nike giving them new uniforms every week). Still, I wouldn't just dismiss the system entirely and say the success is based solely on the top shelf athletes. Darron Thomas won two conference titles as the Ducks QB, wasn't drafted, and is out of football I believe. Critically, he was simply never all that good and his success was a product of their system. Before dismissing the system, it should be said that their style of offense is (was) different enough that it is extremely difficult for other college teams to get properly prepared to stop it in a week or so. On the other hand, success breeds copycats and we're seeing many of the same principles being used all across the country. Nobody stands still...
  19. Actually, Oregon doesn't get the best athletes. If you look at how they do in the draft, many of their better players fall well down the draft board. LaMichael James, who was Kelly's most dynamic player at Oregon, went in the 2nd round. Compare that to USC's track record. Still, I tend to agree that it would be rather difficult to recreate the system at the NFL level. You can fake some of the people out of their jocks some of the time, but not the best of the best all of the time.
  20. Bell was a big beneficiary of homer beer goggles.
  21. Or they've just forgotten we have a team -- blows to the melon and all.
  22. The point is that Peyton gets his players in the right match-ups. You don't have to believe it, but it does make a difference.
  23. Vick with the pick 6 and a 15 yard personal foul. Wow.
  24. Somehow, from the tone of the post-game interview, I don't think Fitzpicks has anywhere remotely close to the control over this offense that Peyton has over his.
