McDermott was critical of Bishop when he showed up to training camp last year, so it's good to see a very different narrative. I wasn't hugely optimistic about him especially in pass defense so I'm glad to hear this news and hope it continues.

Two Bernards is indeed innovative.

Highlight reels are highlight reels but that's a fun watch. Body control, courage, hands. He really looks like he can play and has good feel for the game. Like his frame a lot. Will be fun to have a late rounder to obsess over this summer.

My pie in the sky hope is that he shines at safety reps out of the gates and is our center fielder.

Not sure I agree with that turn of phrase. I don't think the fan base stopped believing in something...I just don't think they ever really understood or accepted that McBean don't want a traditional 1T. I don't know that I totally agree with McBean but I understand what they're after. What's funny to me is that Beane comes across as somewhat confused about what the fanbase and media see as an obvious role for that 1T.
