You're right, but he may have been referring more to the lack of actual football practice by EJ. Sure, he may be heathy soon enough, but are 5? 6? practices enough to shake off the rust and reach the level he was at during the vikings game?
"
Manuel worked out with trainers on Sunday and is coming along well, but it’s too early for the trainers and coaches to ascertain whether or not Manuel will be cleared for practice next week.
“He’s working back so he’s actually starting to move around now which is a good sign,” said Marrone of Manuel. “Then it’s just a matter of how he heals and then when he’s back he’ll be our quarterback.”
Knowing Manuel has been on the shelf for the past week it would be a challenge for him to start against the Patriots without a full week of practice leading up to the game."
I agree with Gilmore being the most indispensable player on our D (as the roster currently stands), but I think if Pettine dials back the blitzes, it may just exacerbate the problem.
Didn't see it, but I wasn't as impressed with the run d the first two games as some on here. Hopefully we shore it up. Wonder what this does to the EJ cause...that's the only silver lining that seems to be there
I think we'll be much improved, but I can't say I'm confident our run defense between the tackles will be adequate. I still see it as a weakness, though it shouldn't be. I'm hoping this is just preseason anxiety.
Naturally. I'm a bills fan. I do think that this week's game was a real opportunity for EJ to get a ton of quality reps. I hope you guys are right and it's just a drain.
