Not that I'm reading into it too much, as we have a lot of things to clean up from today, but I'm feeling better after watching Coach Marrone, Kyle Williams, Eric Wood, Da'Norris Searcy and even Jim Leonard's postgame press conferences (haven't watched Spillers or A. Williams yet). They are responding better to this (i.e. pissed, motivated, full faith in the coaches, recognition that it's week 1, etc) than any loss I've seen in recent years. We still lost though. Next week is going to be nuts.

Maybe I'm projecting, but I think getting a win is extremely important for our players next week. If we start 0-2, I can see some players thinking "same-old-bills", and half-assing it around the field.

Awesome. Next week is going to be so important for the psyche of the team. Impatient for next Sunday already.

Williams and Dareus are going to have to play well. If they don't, we lose, imo.

I'm also trying to set low expectations (don't know how successful I'm being though). I know that EJ is our best option, but missing those preseason weeks isn't trivial.

For a brief moment, before I realized this was just a continuation of the original thread, you scared the bejezus out of me. I thought EJ had re-injured his knee.

I would welcome Leonard back. This would be a good signing. A vet with a disciplined playing style and a nose for the ball, even if he has lost a step, would be good for our defensive backfield, especially if Byrd misses time.
