  1. Well, Vlade tried to make it sound like he didn't care, which I have to imagine was strategic. Saying things like "people back home started fighting" to explain a hostile serbian occupation of croatian soil - things to that effect. He generally whitewashed and gave recollections that were entirely misleading. Unless someone understands the conflict at a certain level, his comments appear totally innocuous - that's what was so infuriating. A counterbalance would have nipped that in the bud very quick.
  2. I've been looking at your post trying to think how I can answer it concisely. The details of that conflict were so intricate that I don't want to go on and on. While I'm certainly no historian, I've done considerable study on the subject during my academic career and lived in the Balkans. "Once Brothers," largely due to the inconceivable structure of giving an open and uncontested mic to Vlade Divac, views like a piece of Serbian propaganda.... ...I just deleted a whole bunch because it really is a rabbit hole. But giving an open and uncontested microphone to a nationalist about his feelings over the balkan conflict, and about a former friendship that disintegrated due to his own behaviors, was shockingly poor documentary design. The fact that everyone who knew Drazen was well aware that his best friend was Stojko Vrankovic (also an NBA player), and that Stojko was for some reason not the logical counterbalance for Vlade, is really bizarre.
  3. Hope it goes well. Tough stuff.
  4. I've really loved the series. Two Escobars was great. I must mention, however, that "Once Brothers" was the most one-sided, propaganda-laden, revisionist-history piece of garbage I'd seen in awhile. Basic documentary failure is rampant in that one. Drazen Petrovic would have been pissed.
  5. Well that was convenient, thanks KTD! Essentially, we don't need a redesign, we just need to eliminate the extreme repetition of utterly predictable playcalls. I totally stand by my frustration.
  6. This is where my fury comes from.
  7. I could see him here for the next couple years for sure. In fact, I expect it.
  8. KC is the game that worries me most. They're a good team.
  9. I think we gotta win the next 4 to have a realistic shot at the playoffs.
  10. Ha, I saw that you had copied that same post in both this thread and the "Fire Hackett" thread. When I see an opportunity to use Jimmy Two-Times, I just gotta go for it:
  11. Hmm. I imagine they'll be favored in all but the Denver game.
  12. Man, I wanted him replaced after last season. It sure seems like when we win, it's in spite of him. I hope like crazy you guys who support him are correct.
  13. +as much as possible
  14. Nor would I. I would blame him in addition to the Guards. And he should recognize that they do, in fact, suck, and not make them a central component of our rushing attack (as much as possible). Regardless, thrilled with the win and GO BILLS! Gotta go run some errands - 5-3 going into the bye! All these games coming up are going to be nerve wracking!
  15. I think our rushing attack last year would have been better with a different OC. Hackett was unbearable last year as well (to me), mostly in a situational playcalling sense. Yes, our OLine is rough. But the OLine and Hackett are not mutually exclusive. They can both suck. I happen to think that they both do, unfortunately. Every week, though, I will hope for the OLine to gel and Hackett to grasp situational football.
  16. Interesting. I see almost the entire fanbase appalled with our "moves" to (not)address the OLine. My problem with Hackett (assuming he's the most responsible person for the offensive playcalls) is that what he calls habitually emphasizes our weak points at the worst times. They'll be kneejerk reactions for every aspect of a game (including the people who think Eric Wood and Cordy Glenn suck now - watch them magically get better as they get more time with Urbik in between), but, Hackett's playcalling has been severely disappointing to me regardless of execution (good or bad). Of course, none of us are privy to the inner-workings of the playcalling - I'm just using my best guess like any of us are.
  17. Hey just out of curiosity, do you like Hackett? Do you instead think it's more on the OLine? QB? Think the offense is fine as it is? (that's not snark I'm genuinely interested)
  18. I would relish a Hackett firing. Don't see it happening though. I'm realistically hoping for a Marrone statement to the effect of "I'll be contributing more to the offensive playcalling" etc
  19. Did he get blasted for it? It's quite possible, I just honestly don't remember him getting widely panned for it. Yep.
  20. A ratio doesn't provide enough context, but anyone who watched that game has to be furious with Hackett. Of course, we have our resident contrarians (I admit I kinda like 'em - some of the time) who will make it seem like we're nuts for wanting Hackett to be shipped to Timbuktu.
  21. I'm hoping someone emerges to replace Pears, but it's definitely nice to have Urbik back.
