  1. I'd like Tyrod to earn the job, but I'm not panicking about what will happen with gameplans etc. There are only so many players on the field and dedicating a spy or stacking the box will create open receivers. Either way, Cassel is turning in good performances in camp and the 1st preseason game. He might win the job outright, but he'll be a nice backup to have if we have to bring him in.
  2. He's been hitting those daily in camp, and did nothing to suggest he couldn't during that game, with a couple nice balls and reads. I know that's a small sample size, but still, it's not like that game was an indictment on his passing game in the slightest.
  3. Thanks for sorting that guys, I totally missed it during the live broadcast.
  4. I heard that a lot, and here's what I remember (from page 1): And what the OP saw on the replay of said play: Anyone have All-22? He may be open when he's offscreen but I didn't see it (or remember it) in the normal broadcast.
  5. Has he run in a way that suggests he doesn't avoid big hits? I'm legitimately asking not being snarky.
  6. Our QBs aren't pricey. Cassel is playing fairly well, and EJ has been up and down but turned in some good performances. I think it ends up TT, Cassel, EJ and we keep all three.
  7. Much appreciated. I'm glad you had the same opinion of the horse collar play. People kept saying he had gray open but I didn't think gray turned his head or body until after TT was past the LOS running. To me it looked like he was definitely looking to throw but no one was open or ready for a pass. But I don't have a way to replay the game, so I don't know if I am just misremembering this play or what.
  8. This is essentially the conversation we've been having since page 1. I think he throws better than many here believe, but none of us will know until he's in such a situation. However, I'm not going to discredit him for running when there were obvious running lanes or even called option plays. He has a good long ball, and I think if teams dedicate personal to containing his running game, that will open up intermediate routes as well. In a nutshell, just because he runs doesn't mean he can't throw. He's shown me enough in his practice performances (second hand, so who really knows) and last night that I think he's got real potential as a passer. I'm as excited about him in the same way I would be for a high draft pick. Or he just gets shut down when there is a spy on him, and I could eat my words. We just don't know yet.
  9. No cable unfortunately. I'd prefer not to get gamepass (I'd be a little more open to it if it were actually reliable - been hearing some troubling reports). I'd be open to another form of streaming, if anyone knows of one. #catchmydrift
  10. It appeared like the team really rallies behind him. I hope he does well next week against that D. Cassel did well too so I really think Tyrod needs to have a solid outing to be named starter after next week. My guess is this is what the coaches are praying for too so that they can be done with the competition and get as many reps in as possible.
  11. Regardless of All-22, I'd love to know if there is a recorded version of the game somewhere out there.
  12. That's funny, I was about to edit the word "confident" to something a little more tempered. But I'm glad you quoted it because what's the fun moderation. I think he's better in the passing game than we're currently giving him credit for.
  13. I know that we all want to talk about Tyrod and EJ (and I will too), but Cassel had a very strong outing last night. Personally I want to see Tyrod run away with this thing, but that doesn't negate the fact that Cassel looked composed and made some plays. Now, some of the things that we keep hearing is that Tyrod runs too much, doesn't go through his progressions, takes off too soon, that it's preseason and when he's game-planned against he'll be shut down by Ds. I'd just like to point out that if the scrambling lanes are there, which they were last night, I really can't fault him for moving the chains. He saw lanes, and made plays with his legs. I cannot realistically expect him to forgo obvious positive running options for the sake of doing more to showcase his passing game. Sure, it would quell some of our curiosity about what he can do with his arm, but still - 14 points. So I guess my end point is: just because he made plays with his legs doesn't mean he cant with his arm. That dropped TD pass + the Goodwin catch and run + the flush out of the pocket to Karlos looked very NFL starter to me. I'm confident that if teams stack the box he'll hurt them with his arm over the top. PS: I think we will and should keep all 3 QBs.
  14. I've got to pick up some cool whip and wonderbread to go with my vanilla.
  15. I actually don't think Tyrod is as boom or bust as some predict. He's been pretty stable in practice.
  16. I think Tyrod throws better than people give him credit for. I'd like to see him do that tonight. Regardless, if he's moving the chains one way or another, I can't complain.
  17. THIS. Thank you for typing out what I've been thinking. Roman is a great coordinator for Tyrod.
  18. I've decided to forgo tempering my expectations and will myself into drinking Tyrod koolaid. Playoffs here we come. Now I just need Rex and Roman to name him starter.
  19. Russel Wilson, if I'm picking one of those options to physically compare him to.
  20. I think Tyrod has potential in the passing game, but I'm just judging from the armchair.
  21. All aboard that Tyrod train amirite??
  22. Good lord, hasn't Manziel only played like 1.5 games?
