Trade package sounds about right. Steep price, but one we should pay.

I understand that's the argument, I just don't put much stock in it (as a variable to consider for the draft).

Concussions are a legit concern, but i don't put too much stock into his family's affluence.

Seems like he's tripping pretty hard to me. Regardless, if you't look at that video and can't manage an iota of sympathy, you've got some growing up to do.

He showed plenty of flashes, and I hope he finds the motivation to get back to the field.

Star and murphy are big additions. Zay's situation is not good at all. I had high hopes for him this year.

I've talked to Trent about that hit, and he mentions the Chargers game as proof that the hit didn't change him. I don't buy it, though I admit he's a nice guy and he talked up the Bills plenty.

I'd love to have him back at a fair contract.

Please god let us get darnold, rosen or mayfield. If we get rudolph at all I'll be sick. If we grab him at 12 I will lose my mind.

Can someone school me on Conor McDermott? I know we claimed him off waivers, and the coaches are apparently high on him...how do we know this? I'd love a reason to be optimistic at RT, heh.

I'm all for paying the king's ransom to move up. Take a swing. Plus with the cap next year (and saving who knows how many rookie contracts this year)...I would expect to be competitive this year but not world beaters during the rookie's first season. And then look out come sophomore season.

Excellent post. I think your assessment of the team is spot on ("project team"). God we're so close to a blue chip QB - I hope we can pull it off.

My thoughts (it's getting tough to choose which thread to put them into): I would trade way up for Darnold or Rosen. Why not? Swing for the fences. It'll take a king's ransom but that's ok. I'm for it. The question rests entirely on whether the Giants will play ball. I could get behind a trade up for Mayfield, but I don't think the Giants would be our spot for him. Maybe the browns at 4? (requires browns going QB at 1 and giants taking barkley at 2). Alternatively: we could genuinely be out of luck, and I wouldn't even blame Beane: Let me reinforce: this is not the scenario I prefer. However, if he can't get the Giants to accept an offer for #2, what else can he do. He'll be beside himself, I imagine. He's demonstrated an adept approach to roster building with an eye toward the cap and long-term plans that I appreciate. In this case, I think getting a legitimate blue chip ILB and OLine talent, and then using our remaining picks for whatever they think is best (WR, more backers, etc), has its merits. Obviously it forces us to ignore the franchise qb issue, but there have been many offseasons where we've had to base our hopes on much, much less. If we can't get Darnold/Rosen/Mayfield, I think McCarron is probably every bit the prospect of lamar and allen. Perhaps his ceiling is lower, I don't know, but he's been stuck behind dalton and Marvin Lewis hates qb controversy. He's also demonstrated the game is not too big for him. He's had his share of highlights and plays he wants back, but I've never thought he looked out of his depth. I suppose what I'm saying is that I desperately want us to try for a top QB in a good QB year, and while I'll be very disappointed if we don't, there is still a lot to be excited about - and at least we'll have a QB that could turn into something. But then again, it's the hope that kills ya...
