Pitta is a decent option, but pretty 1-dimensional compared to Pettigrew. Pettigrew is pretty close to Pitta as a receiver, but a much better blocker (if motivated). Either guy is a nice upgrade from Chandler.

Whaley-Dust Settles Approach to FA
947 replied to NastyNateSoldiers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We can't afford to add malcontent guys like Britt. There is not enough leadership & no winning culture to force him to adapt to. I could see him maybe resurrect his career with an established winner like the Pats or a team ready to contend now. I highly doubt Jermichael Finley ever plays again. He was contemplating retirement after his first concussion this season. After almost having his head taken off when he came back from it, no way. I'll be happy if we all we add via FA is a starting caliber OG. -
McKinnie stuck around in the league for 13 years, has a Pro Bowl appearance on his resume, and a Super Bowl ring. He didn't live up to his draft status, but had a pretty solid NFL career. Mike Williams on the other hand was a complete bust in every sense of the word. The only reason that pick isn't talked about as the worst ever, is because Ryan Leaf & Jamarcus Russell being QBs makes them higher profile. The Bills waaaay overthought that one, and McKinnie should've been the pick (if they went OT).

No question. Torrey Smith is basically a 1-trick pony deep threat. Gordon does that just as well, and is a big bodied inside WR too. He looks to be from the same mold as Brandon Marshall.
-
Gordon is a near top-10 talent at WR. If we over-commit to stopping Cameron, we don't have anybody who can match up with Gordon (w/o Gilmore). Gordon will be the most talented outside WR we've faced, and look what some of the lesser guys have done to us. I'm concerned to say the least.

Pee rivers for 1 game? Not a big deal The bathrooms in the Wrigley field bleachers had over an an inch of piss flowing for every single game throughout the nineties into the 2000s, until they finally updated them a few years ago. People knew not to wear flip flops if you had bleacher seats.

I think most would agree that TJ is a #2, as in a piece of .

Dareus' chance for revenge on Carolina this Sunday

Add Rolando McLain & Dee Milliner to that list. Mark Barron may end up there too. -
Stevie and Hartline. Sit TY.

I thought Leinart finally had his chance to break away from obscurity 2 years ago in Houston when Schaub went down. Leinart started the next game and looked really good, but inevitably got injured near the end of that same game. Houston had to roll with rookie TJ Yates the rest of the year & lost in their 2nd playoff game. I can't help wonder what would've happened if Leinart stayed healthy for that run. He seemed light years better than Yates. I think Leinart can be a decent backup for us, but with only a week to prepare, I'm not expecting anything soon.

No way Baltimore is a playoff team this year. So-called experts just feel obligated to still pick them since they're reigning champs. Cincy will be the lone AFC North playoff team. Houston & Denver (maybe Cincy) are really are the only teams you can say will DEFINITELY have a better record than the Bills, barring injury. LOL at the mention of San Diego, they'll be fighting with the Raiders, Jags, & Jets for the rights to draft Clowney.
-
I think Carrington will break out this year for sure, then he'll leave via FA. With Eugene as his agent, unless we somehow extend during the season, he's as good as gone. I've always liked Easley, and I think he's showing he deserves a shot WR3 over Graham. He may never get significant playing time though. Moats is still just a serviceable backup, which I guess is pretty decent for a 6th rounder. Troup hurts the most, because of who we passed on. Even if he makes the team, I can't see him ever making a significant contribution.

We got a 4th & a 5th from Seattle for Lynch, which turned into Hairston & Tank Carder. If that's not peanuts, maybe almonds?
-
I would absolutely love getting Moffitt for TJ. On paper it looks fair, both 3rd round picks that are fringe starters on the upswing. But I'm not sure Graham would give them anything they don't already have in Golden Tate. I'm guessing Seattle would want a player and a pick. Either way, our FO better be exploring this as an option. Seahawks do owe us one after stealing Lynch for peanuts.

As good as Tuel looked, I see no way Kolb gets cut. It would be coaching suicide to go into the season w/ 2 rookies at QB and no vet on the roster. Tuel should be the #3 this year, then possibly our primary backup the rest of his career.

The offensive word of the day is...crisp
947 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
EJ's 5.1 yards/attempt despite completing 16 of 21 is a little concerning. It looked a lot like his bowl game vs NIU everything short & easy. I'm sure the reins were on in his first ever NFL action, and he was missing top receiving option. I'm hoping they open it up a bit as the preseason progresses. -
How Long Have You Been A Bills Fan And When Did You Know?
947 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Despite living in Chicago my whole life, I found myself following the Bills closely in 1989. I think I officially adopted then as "my team" during the playoff game in 89' vs Cleveland when Beebe got flipped on his head. Been a Bills fanatic ever since, I don't follow the local team (Bears) at all. -
Deacon Jones versus Bruce Smith
947 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As Bills fans, we're all going to pick Bruce as the #1 all-time, and rightfully so. But good luck selling the masses on that. I'd bet 90% of NFL fans would rate Bruce below Deacon Jones and Reggie White. -
Youthful Bills could be looking to get even younger.

Pears was our most consistent lineman in 2011, which is the last time he was healthy. If healthy this year, I think he's our starting RT. -
Premiere vet FAs that are still available.
947 replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can't see them ever trading Stevie. Even if Woods or Rogers supplants him as WR1 in a year or two, he's still on a cap-friendly deal for a high end WR2. -
Maybin. Horrible picks based solely on combine stats like Flowers, Mamula, etc were common 10+ years ago. Learning from those past debacles should've prevented any team from making that mistake with Maybin.

Bills compared to how the Steelers were built
947 replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the time of the 2011 draft, Aaron Williams was seen as a Safety by 31 of the 32 teams. It just took our front office 2 years to figure out that he was miscast as a CB. -
Rd 2, Pick #41: WR Robert Woods - USC
947 replied to CaliBillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I keep seeing comparisons of Woods to Reggie Wayne when he came into the league. Rightfully so, they are almost identical in height, weight, & measurables. They were both seen as the best route runner & most NFL-ready WR in their class, but were said to be a cut below superstar level. While I hope Woods turns out like Wayne, it should be noted that Wayne had a VERY slow start to his career. Wayne's rookie year stat line is actually worse than TJ Graham's, despite having Peyton Manning as his QB. Even his 2nd year was nothing to get excited over. This board will be crying BUST if Woods only matches Wayne's rookie numbers of 27 catches for 345 yards & no TDs. We need to temper our expectations IMO. -
Poll: Grade Draft, EJ Manuel Question

That comparison to Gabbert is downright scary. I don't agree with it, but reading that is frightening... -
Poll: Grade Draft, EJ Manuel Question

Losman was a moron & a cocky A-hole, in addition to being from a dumbed-down offense. His only asset was a monster arm. I really doubt he'd be drafted before round 4 in today's NFL. EJ is very smart, team-oriented, from a pro-style offense, oh- and also has a monster arm. Not really any comparison.
