I've watched a couple Wyoming games this season, Svoboda is Allen's exact size & has similar running ability, but he's a terrible passer, his accuracy is way worse than college Josh. He's started 7 games this year & completed 47% of his passes with 4 TDs vs 6 INTs. He does have 5 rushing TDs, he's a better runner than passer for sure.

DeWayne Carter is looking like what I expected Oliver to be this year. Another great showing from Carter.

10/20/24 Game 7 GAMEDAY Bills vs Titans 2nd half thread
947 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's almost like playing aggressive Defense and a tight zone works better than our regular Base Prevent Defense, it's so weird... -
I saw the game a few weeks ago when Levis got hurt & Rudolph came in. Rudolph looked like he was definitely better for a drive, then showed that he's not very good either. McD's Defense has allowed some bad QBs to look like stars- so who knows, Kenny Pickett & Zach Wilson come to mind.... Rudolph has a really weak arm, so we have no need to play the usual 2-high Safety prevent & allow him to look competent throwing to wide open guys underneath, but I don't know if I trust McD not to do that.

What exactly is the real story with Mike Edwards?
947 replied to Jukester's topic in The Stadium Wall
When we signed Edwards, everyone thought that is he was a "good" player for KC, McD's DB wizardry would make him really good, like he did with Poyer/Hyde. It hasn't happened, but I don't understand why we don't at least give him some plays & see what he can do. -
For the actual TV coverage, what bothers me the most is that they zoom in so much, that you can't see half of the field. On a 3rd & 7, I want to see what formation the offense lines up in, I want to see pre-snap defensive coverage & what the Safeties do- but instead I get a a close-up of the QB's face yelling out his calls & cadence, or a graphic of some stupid thing like how a player is the career leader in Monday Night 3rd down targets. You have no idea what the teams are doing until after the snap when they zoom out.

Thus far, he hasn't proven to be worth a $20M contract. I suspect he'll get $21M/year on the open market this offseason from a lower-end team. The Bills will then re-sign him to a fair deal once that team releases him after a year or 2 of not earning the $21M.

Week 7, Titians v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!

33-17, good guys -
So about the refs tonight UPDATE: Rams game discussion on page 14
947 replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
The RTP call against Josh was a good call. The idiot grabbed Josh by the helmet & whipped him to the ground. After the ball is out, all you can get away with is a push or completing an in-progress tackle, you can't grab & toss the QB- especially by the head. -
Now can we get us some Budda Baker to shore up the other weak area?
947 replied to Mister Defense's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even if we got Budda, McD would just give him the Mike Edwards treatment, then talk about how complicated our Defense is and that it takes time to learn. It'd be 4 weeks after getting Budda on-board & Hamlin would still be the starter. 🤢 -
You guys are crazy thinking trading a 3rd rounder to potentially save the season is too much. Imagine this scenario... We didn't make the Cooper trade. We still barely won the Division, and host a 1st round playoff game vs the Chargers. Chargers play heavy pressure D & flood the middle zones, our offense has no answers and looks like it did in the Texans game- we lose 31-17 & get eliminated at home. Don't you think every one of us would wish we'd have just given up that 3rd round pick for Amari Cooper?

The Bills Defense is Last in Rushing Yards / Attempt
947 replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
When your base defense is basically a Prevent-D, you're not gonna be among the league leaders in many defensive stats -
Ray Davis looks MUCH better with a little bit of space to operate

Inject Ray Davis straight into my veins. -
DeWayne Carter played like a savage last week in place of Oliver, I'm hoping he's on the field even more.
-
It's not so much that they don't play well, it's that McD keeps starting games playing that idiotic soft zone. We're basically playing a Prevent D & teams carve us up in the middle of the field. Then we adjust at halftime, it works, & we wonder why we didn't just do this all game.
-
I'm hopeful, but not so sure we shut Rodgers down. McD has a habit of starting games in a mega-soft zone & letting even pedestrian QBs carve us up in the middle of the field, then only adjusts at halftime. If we let Rodgers do that for the first half, we'll be chasing a lead at halftime.

The Saints already have a recent 1st round WR,and Shaheed who's having a very good year, plus Kamara who averages about 75 catches/year. With all those mouths to feed, Adams isn't choosing the Saints if it's up to him.
-
There's a video on twitter of Pickens' routes from last week. He's dogging it badly on every play, even the ones where the ball comes to him. There's 10+ pass plays shown, so it's not a one-off. If he's doing that stuff, he's probably not a "process" guy.

Are we figured out already? The issues as I see them
947 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
The most predictable thing for me is that every time we have a successful run, we run on the next play 100% of the time. Cooks breaks off 12 yards on 1st down, next play is another run for -1, now we're in a hole. The defense knows it's coming & either run-blitzes or has the right call to stop it at the line. -
How was Josh able to finish the game with a concussion?
947 replied to JakeFrommStateFarm's topic in The Stadium Wall
No every head impact leads to a concussion. His helmet did bounce pretty good off the turf, but turf is a lot softer than another helmet, and it's not moving toward you. If he passed protocol, it wasn't a concussion. He was absolutely lit up though, and looks like he was also hurting in the sternum area. The hit may have affected his play afterward. -
I saw a little of the Rams vs Bears game. Tre got called for PI in the endzone which set up a TD, on a play where he actually had great coverage & made a nice move to knock the ball away. I thought it was a clean play. He didn't look good most of the game, but that play was great if not for the penalty.
-
Josh having a broken finger is plausible. He had the middle finger & ring finger on his left hand buddy-taped vs the Ravens. I noticed & thought it was odd since the supposed injury was to the hand, not fingers.
-
Adjusting the D late in the 2nd quarter may be a first for McD. He usually never adjusts defensively until halftime, that's one of my biggest gripes with him. It worked vs Arizona because the game wasn't out of hand, but in games like this week it's too little-too late. Why not make adjustments on the fly, like every other defensive coach?

Tom Pelissero: Bills Sign DT Zion Logue off of Falcons PS
947 replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall
DQ hasn't been bad, but he really hasn't been noticeable this year. He was a game-wrecker for the first few games of last year, but that doesn't seem to be the case in 24'. -
Defense Playing Undermanned Due To Performance Issues.
947 replied to Buffaloflash's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only play I noticed Von on was the slip-screen to Justice Hill that Collinsworth talked about in detail. The RT baited Von by opening extremely wide to get Von to to take an exagerrated outside path to the QB. Von bit & went waaay outside, Hill slipped right through the massive opening Von left & had a big gain. If Von hadn't fallen for it, he blows the play up.
