  1. Yeah, the shovel pass to McKenzie when he wasn't looking counts as one of Josh's "fumbles". So does the bad snap vs Minnesota. And there was at least one that was a miscommunication on a RPO handoff.
  2. The strip sack last week was not really an avoidable fumble (unless he'd thrown it sooner of course), if a QB gets blasted in the back while getting ready to pass, the ball is coming out. The only near-fumble that concerned me was the play where he ran it for a short gain down near the GL, had the ball in 1 hand, and and swung it around a defender's head to try & avoid the tackle. That's way too high risk, the second he decides to run, that ball needs to be tucked.
  3. You do not realize that close games were the only Bills games to survive the franchise wars. Now all Bills games are close games.
  4. I noticed he was solid this week too, it's been a while since that could be said. I have to wonder if his back was still not 100% most of the year & is now getting there.
  5. One problem I see with Dane, is sometimes he's in good position to make a play on the ball but just starts tackling the receiver as the ball arrives, as if conceding the catch. I was always taught to wrap the body with the far arm & use the near arm to try & knock the ball away, that way you're still in position to tackle if he still catches it. Would love too see our guys do this with more consistency, I find myself yelling "go for the ball" way too often in the past few weeks.
  6. Exactly. The Bears are in a great position with lots of teams wanting QBs & themselves not being one of them. They could probably turn the 2nd overall pick into 2 first rounders & change from a QB-needy team. If they win any more games, that becomes harder to do.
  7. People worried about the wind, since they built the giant alien mothership on top of Soldier field, the wind isn't as bad is it used to be. 20mph wind there is not the same as it is at Highmark. Still not great, but passes won't look like an MLB slider.
  8. For those worried about the wind I'll be there. I live about 45min away in the burbs, well could be more like 2 hours on game day...
  9. He didn't just rough the punter in the way it normally happens. He caught him out of the air after the ball was gone, wrapped him up, & up buried him into the ground. Why in the hell would anybody ever try to tackle the punter? That was probably the dumbest play in Bills history.
  10. I'll be at the game. Was hoping for weather in the 30s, oh well. The wind inside the stadium usually isn't like Buffalo, I've been to probably 20 games there.
  11. Cardinals paid Murray 2 years before they needed to, and before they they'd seen enough to make that decision. Now they're screwed for the foreseeable future. I think teams doing it that early will be over for a while. If teams are reluctant to pay megabucks to a good not great QB, the Seattle strategy is the best move. Trade him for multiple 1st rounders, even if you have to franchise him, and let the next team get hamstrung by that contract. We could see a team like Houston trade both of their 1st rounders for Lamar Jackson, then pay him top dollar. It'd be an idiotic move for them, but a huge win for Baltimore. Ravens would have 3 firsts to get a QB & reload other areas, much better than giving Lamar 40% of your cap.
  12. It may help make Baltimore's decision easier. But somebody is still going to pay Lamar Jackson. Even if Baltimore trades him for 2 firsts & change, whoever gets him is going to give him a Watson-esque contract. That's the problem with these QB contracts, the smart teams won't pay it, but there's enough dumb teams who will pay whatever it takes.
  13. Beasley had 4 catches in 2 games for the Bucs. His final reception was on 3rd down & he failed to convert, he got screamed at by Brady all the way back to the sideline, retired the next day.
  14. I'm sure other teams wanted Mayfield, but most thought he'd clear waivers & try to sign him for the vet minimum instead of picking up his contract.
  15. If we lose Poyer, I'd much rather see McBeane identify another up & comer like Poyer was in FA than draft one high. There has to be an under-utilized & under-coached DB on the rise somewhere in the league with the traits McD wants & won't command a big cap hit.
  16. The issue with Saffold is consistency. He can still be really good on a play to play basis, but he seems to totally crap the bed & get the play blown up 1-2 times per game.
  17. It's annoying when teams do it now, but imagine if teams start running wedge plays on 3rd/4th & short. When I coached 10yr old football, we played against a team that ran a wedge run play a lot. They'd run it out of double TEs with 2 RBs, the QB would take the snap & the 7 guys on the line would form a wedge behind the center, the RBs would get behind the QB & push. At that age, it worked well & sometimes broke into a really big gain. Assisting the runner was against the rules, but the refs wouldn't call it. It wasn't until we had the NT cut the Center that we could stop it.
  18. He dropped his only target. But he's been pretty good blocking, I bet the 2nd Diggs TD would've counted if Knox had been there instead of Sweeney.
  19. I'll be at the game. This will be my 3rd Xmas Eve game in Chicago. I've lived near Chicago my whole life, I have no Bears affiliation, but have been to many games there. The Bears had home games on Xmas Eve 2 years in a row, back when I was in HS/college. At both games I saw a guy dressed as Santa get beat up. Not sure if it was the same guy both years... The more good players the Bears are missing, the higher likelihood of pissed off fans beating up Santa.
  20. A lot of it is technique. I see a ton of upper body tackling, especially when tackling a guy from behind. If you tackle a guy by the thighs, or even ankle, from behind, he drops instantly. If you grab him around the shoulders or waist, he drags you for another 2-3 yards, or just runs through it.
  21. We've been getting absolutely killed by WR1s on teams who don't have much as far as secondary receivers. Jefferson & Amari Cooper were open on just about every play. And we still didn't adjust anything toward them. Amon-Ra St Brown will do the same if we don't double, or at least bracket him, they have literally nothing at receiver besides him.
  22. My dog wasn't wearing his Bill's t-shirt. We put the shirt on him for every game we've won this year. We weren't at home for the Miami & Jets games, so we didn't put it on him. Vikings game, he didn't wear it & my wife got home just before the end & put it on him, but it was too late. Lesson learned. From now on, he's wearing the shirt all day on game days even if he's home alone.
  23. Von Miller was a turd on most run plays aside from the TFL. He rushes the passer on every play, even on obvious run downs. Teams are starting to run at him & he takes himself out of the play far too often. It seems every week he gets a big TFL by running down the RB from behind, that's because he's rushing the passer & in the backfield to do that. When they run to his side, he's rarely in the play. His splash plays have been huge, but we need him to affect more of the other 90% of plays as well.
  24. Jets play primarily Zone D. Mckenzie is good vs Man, but struggles vs Zone. Hopefully we see more of Shakir this week.
  25. Sills has been terrible, but does have a catch in every Giants game this season. He's been playing largely out of necessity, he's the most likely one for Hodgins to get a shot over.
