Would love Mayer, but doubtful he drops to us. If he's really the best all-around TE prospect since Hockenson, somebody will take him in the top half. Hock went #8. I really like Patterson. Not sure how I'd feel about drafting another lumbering RT from Oklahoma, but I like the overall commitment to OL.

Hall of Famer Joe Namath's rookie year was the only season in his 13-year career in which the threw more TDs than INTs. 220 career INTs to 173 TDs.

With Oliver Value Goes Beyond the Stat Line
947 replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oliver has always been dominant in stretches, he has a couple amazing games every year. He also has 5-6 games every year that he's invisible. Every year it seems we hear that he's been playing hurt, 4 years of that is a trend. The silly D-Line rotation prevents him from ever putting up notable sack numbers. I suspect if he moves on & plays 80% of snaps like a normal team would do, he'll be viewed as a better player. -
Nobody is trading away an All-Pro Guard. If they did, it would take a whole lot more than a rotational DT with 1 year left on his deal at $10M to get him. Oliver would probably only net a 3rd round pick at best. I want to add Dalton Risner in FA for RG, move Bates to LG, draft a RT in rounds 1-2. If Morse retires, Bates moves to C, and then we need 2 Guards & a RT. Would probably require grabbing 2 of them via FA.

Urlacher dropped ball carriers, he hit hard every time. Edmunds is more likely to pull a RB down on top of himself for extra yards, or jump on their back as they try to run past him. It's very rare that Edmunds stops a guy in his tracks. This is part of the reason we're often facing 3rd & 2 instead of 3rd & 6. The pass break-up he had in the Miami playoff game was the first time in 5 years that I can remember him really blasting somebody.

Buscaglia: Both Bills Coordinators are likely to be back in 2023
947 replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
If Frazier is back, neither he nor McD will do a single damn thing differently. They'll talk about how they were missing key players, and how that affected what the D could do, and it'll be better this year, blah blah blah. Then we'll start getting the brakes beat off of us more frequently with the book now out on how to not just beat, but embarrass us. Not to mention the murderers row of a schedule we have. Our defensive system is a joke to other teams. Bills fans deserve better. -
Bill Parcells says Josh Allen needs help
947 replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Parcells knows his stuff like very few others. He's been one of the most respected opinions among NFL people for decades. Beane, please listen to him. I'd love to hear Parcells' opinion on Frazier & his scheme. I already know what it'd be, but I'd be in for the laughs. -
I think McBeane can find a budget FA DB who was underutilized with his former team that fits as a Safety. The way they identified Poyer with Cleveland, and to a lesser extent, Hyde. Add a guy like that to the mix along with Benford. Marlowe could return as cheap depth. Jaquon Johnson has proven that he's not even a depth safety.
-
CJ Gardner-Johnson is projected at $14M/year on Spotrac, I don't see any way we could do that. Poyer projects at $11M, and even that'd be a stretch. With all the other needs we have, I think we have to go with Benford if Poyer walks.
-
I think we need 2 OL from this draft, and a 3rd via FA. If a very good WR like Jordan Addison falls to #28, then I'd be on-board. Follow that up with OL/OL. I don't want us taking a "project" WR in the late 1st, like Parker Washington.
-
I think Dortch might be the only WR in the league who is smaller that McKenzie. And $3M?, no thanks.

Was Micah Hyde's injury the key to the Bills' season?
947 replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hyde & Von injuries just exposed the defensive issues that were already there. Much like Josh has covered up the weaknesses of our OL the past few seasons, I think Hyde & Poyer together covered a lot of defensive deficiencies. Our scheme is archaic & an awful fit for playoff football. Cincinnati exposed it without even breaking a sweat for the world to see. If that butt-kicking is what it takes to finally get a full Defensive scheme upheaval, then at least there's a silver lining. -
I like Parris Campbell as a cheaper FA. He missed a lot of time in his first few seasons, was healthy this year & played really well despite awful QB play. Can play outside or slot, and should come pretty cheap. Even if we draft a 1st round WR, who's to say McD would play him any more than they played Shakir this year?
-
Pegula is a cutthroat businessman. I'm sure he doesn't settle for mediocrity & worse in his business ventures, he fires people on the spot when they suck. He has invested a ton in this team, no way he allows Frazier back. McD needs to be told that he needs to hire a new DC or he's out, and that DC needs to be allowed to run a new scheme. Dorsey is only OC because Josh wanted him to be, hopefully he can admit his mistake & let McBeane know that he needs a real OC. It has to hurt for Josh to see the Chiefs, Bengals, Eagles, & 49ers completing easy passes to receivers that are open by 5 yards on nearly every play.

I don't know if Groot won a single rep today. Our DL looked like they were part of an offensive walk-thru, just doing their part by getting in their gap, & letting the OL block them to walk thru the play.

I'm hopeful for a Jags upset, but expect this:

I just saw a mock draft that had us taking Bijan. I threw up in my mouth. Doubtful he drops that far, but if he does, there will be offers to trade down. I'd much rather do that.
-
His arm is beyond dead. On the throws where he couldn't fully step into it, the ball was falling 5 yards short... on 15-20 yard passes. He clearly needs to use his entire body to throw the ball beyond 25 yards. Most QBs can just flick the ball that distance without being able to step up. He threw the ball away on a hail mary attempt from the 50. If he had the arm strength to get it to the endzone from there, he would've tried.

Bryce Young vs CJ Stroud - Both in the Draft now
947 replied to Thrivefourfive's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't really think either of them is a cant-miss stud, but they'll both surely be drafted in the top-5. Young is 5'11" & Stroud is from OSU, both factors are seen as knocks against them. Not to mention both have played their entire college careers with supporting casts that are much better than 90% of their opponents. If I had to choose, I'd go with Stroud. The Bears will trade #1 to the highest QB-needy bidder. Somebody in the top-10 will trade 2 firsts along with other picks/players. The Lions are supposedly targeting Levis, so they won't need to get to #1. -
Shakir needs to be the primary slot WR. The drop was bad, but he's made plays just about every other opportunity he's had.

I hated using both of them. I'm from the school of thought that you don't use defensive timeouts unless something crazy happens like 10 men on the field. The game was close, there was a chance we were gonna need those timeouts for a comeback attempt.
-
The difference between Elam & Dane is that Elam looks to break up the pass, while Dane concedes & just starts tackling the receiver around the legs while he's catching the ball.

1/15/2023 Wildcard Weekend - Dolphins @ Bills - Post Game Thread
947 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've overcome the disappointment & relief has set in. One thing still makes me sick to my stomach: How did Josh not even see the CB blitz coming up on the strip-sack-TD? He walked up pre-snap & was completely ignored. -
Ravens and Lamar do not reach contract agreement
947 replied to Steel City Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
LOL at any WR anywhere near the top-5 or top-10 signing with Baltimore. That team is career suicide for WRs. You think a guy who's catching 90+ balls per year will sign up to go there & catch 65? After half a season with Lamar, that WR would no longer be in the conversation for top WRs, and his future earnings would take a big hit. The Ravens will never have good WRs with Lamar Jackson as QB.
