  1. This part just blows my mind: During the early stages of his NFL career, Manziel would call his agent, Erik Burkhardt, and tell him football wasn't fun anymore. Losing the love for the game obviously affected his study habits, because Manziel wasn't watching any film. "Their GM's calling me going, 'He doesn't watch tape,'" Burkhardt said. "I'm like, 'Well he's gotta watch some tape.' He's like, 'EB, his iPad hours is 0.00.'" Manziel confirmed he watched zero film: "Zero."
  2. I like that they're force-feeding Torrence a steady dose of Daquon Jones. Let him struggle vs our best interior DL now & adapt/make adjustments so he's hopefully ready for the guys he'll see during the season.
  3. Same problem here in Illinois. I've noticed a lot of the officials they do have are old guys, when those guys age out, it'll get worse. Good for you for helping out. I've seen the same with umps in HS baseball. Games cancelled because no umps available, or having to play with only 1 ump.
  4. If Cook doesn't fumble on his first career carry, I think his 2022 season would've gone much differently. He didn't touch the ball again in the opening game, and had only 35 total touches in Weeks 2-9 As long as Cook doesn't fumble vs the Jets Week 1, I expect he'll be the RB1 for the season.
  5. I'm intrigued by Gouraige. He started 52 games at Florida, most at LT & a few at LG. He's viewed as a RT in the NFL, but if he started at LT for 3 years in the SEC, he must have skills that could translate to the other side, and 34" arm length meets the minimum requirement. Not sure why he went undrafted, but he could end up a diamond in the rough.
  6. Nothing Payton said about Hackett was wrong. Was it in poor taste to air it publicly like that? Absolutely, but it isn't like he made the stuff up, everyone could see the Broncos were the pinnacle of dysfunction in 2022. I imagine it came from a place of frustration after seeing just how bad things were at Mile High when Payton arrived. I'd be surprised if Hackett is employed by an NFL team once Rodgers retires.
  7. Meniscus tear has 2 options, either a full repair which is 6-9 months, or a meniscectomy which is 6-8 weeks. Meniscectomy just cuts out the damaged part of the meniscus. It doesn't grow back or repair itself. You get back to playing quickly, but have a partial meniscus for the rest of your life. Meniscus repair is just like it sounds, it keeps the meniscus intact but has a very long recovery time due to very little bloodflow in cartilage. Most athletes under the age of 30 opt for repair to avoid knee issues in the future. Recovery can take longer, even if Ramsey returns late in the season, he may not be be 100% until the 2024 season.
  8. Well an achilles injury is a "calf injury". Unless they say it's the gastrocnemius or soleus, or anything specific- it could be a torn achilles. Just saying Calf Injury sounds like they're being intentionally vague.
  9. I've witnessed 2 achilles tears from within 10-20ft away, neither were very in much pain. It looked a lot Burrow, just hopping & going down, followed by f-bombs. Not saying that's what Burrow has, I imagine any calf injury gets the "hop & plop" response.
  10. I remember really wanting him in the draft, but he's been a complete turd in 4 NFL seasons since. He did have 102 catches for 1698yd & 15 TDs in his senior year at UMASS. His final college game vs Georgia: 15 catches, 219yd, 2 TDs.
  11. I'm of the opinion that Bates is a better Center than OG. I agree he'll likely be a backup at Guard this year, but I think he's our Center in 2024 & I'm OK with that.
  12. I think Bates is little to no drop off from Morse, and probably a better run-blocker. The problem we had with Bates playing Center was that forced us to have 2 awful OGs on the field instead of just 1 in Saffold. Now that we've added 3 OGs who are all upgrades, we'll be in a solid position if Bates plays Center. And let's face it, Morse is more likely to miss some time this season than play all 17 games.
  13. If Josh's career had turned out like Darnold's, and the drought was still in-effect today, there probably would be some reverence toward Tyrod. He did help break the drought, but that doesn't change the fact that he wasn't very good. Having a real QB & a legit offense now, helps us forget celebrating mediocrity during the Tyrod years. It's like when your parents get you a used beat-up 89' Chevy Cavalier when you turn 16 & it's the greatest thing that ever happened to you. Then when you buy a new luxury car in your 30s, you laugh remembering about being so happy to drive that old POS.
  14. I was so pissed that I had to work during that game. As a teen, I worked at Service Merchandise & luckily got moved to the electronics department that day, the game was on just about all 40 TVs in the place. So I did get to see about 90% of it, catching glances while helping customers. All my memories of the game appear in my head as happening on a wall of TVs.
  15. I'm also an out-of-towner & had the same situation for a 1:00 game last year. He'll be fine with a 7:30 flight. I waited until 10 minutes after the game to exit to the stadium then walked to my rental car. By the time I got to it, much of the traffic had died down, got to the airport in 25 minutes. We even had time to stop for food & still had an hour to wait until the flight boarded. I think I had a 6:30 flight. Buffalo airport is not crowded on a Sunday evening.
  16. On 2 of those plays, Saffold holds up for 1.3 seconds before getting blown past, which actually makes them 2 of his best pass-pro snaps of the season.
  17. I think people are underestimating just how huge not having Saffold on field is going to be. Josh makes too many mistakes? How many of those last year just happened to be on the same play where Saffold (or Brown) whiffed & allowed a free rusher breathing down on Josh before he even secured the snap? Adding 2 major upgrades at OG is huge. If we were a top offense despite that, I have a ton of optimism for our 23' offense.
  18. There was a shirtless vid of him doing a boxing workout about a month ago, I thought he looked too big then. I figured the workouts would help him slim down for the season. Maybe not
  19. That play calling would've gotten Dorsey fired at halftime. We morph into a running team, but James Cook doesn't get a single touch? I highly doubt we ever feature Hines like that in a real game. Our pass rush at times seemed oddly familiar at times, with nobody getting within 5 yards of Tua. I LOL'd at Jordan Phillips getting injured & holding his shoulder while his arm dangles loose. At least one of the game designers watched Bills games last year.
  20. Wow, I can't believe we almost left Ko Simpson out of the superstar conversation.😄
  21. The Raiders made Sapp play 3-4 DE, which was a horrible mis-cast, correctly predicted by just about everyone when it happened. He was absolutely dominant as a 3-techique DT in Tampa's 4-3. Imagine Kyle Williams trying to play 3-4 DE... Sapp earned his gold jacket IMO.
  22. Agreed! Namath played 13 seasons, and he less than 50% completion rate in 7 of them. He had more TDs than INTs in only 1 of his 13 seasons. His best season was 4,004 yards, 26 TDs, 28 INTs, 52.5% Completion. Career completion rate of 50.1% does not belong in the HOF, regardless of era. Career 173 TDs with... 220 INTs.
  23. I have to admit, the Fruit of the Loom briefs is a nice touch.
  24. A lot of the big X WR types elect to skip the shuttle & 3-cone drills, they're advised by their agents to do so when it's apparent their skill set isn't agility, and doing those drills will only hurt them. Metcalf did both drills, and while he blew the doors off the combine in the speed, strength, & explosiveness drills, he totally crapped the bed in the 3-cone & shuttle. It's part of the reason why he dropped to Round 2. Calvin Johnson skipped both & he still went #2 overall.
