  1. It's shocking to how lazily some of our WRs ran routes in that game. The coaches film really tells the story that you can't see on TV. Diggs is the biggest offender, which is crazy.
  2. Rapp is awful in coverage. He's a solid tackler, but coverage is a bigger part of playing Safety in our system. I don't think they bring him back. I think we'll draft one & pick up 2 FA guys. I like the idea of getting miscast CBs from another team who can be converted here.
  3. Even first round pick WRs can take a season or 2 to develop. Look at Quentin Johnston on the Chargers, he was thrust into opportunity this year & still didn't do much. We'll draft one early, but also need to hedge that bet with a FA WR pickup. Samuel is a good player, but I don't think he fits our need as an outside WR. I fear he'd be like Crowder was here.
  4. The Chargers are a complete mess cap-wise, they are going to lose a lot of talent this offseason. And I don't see Harbaugh as a revolutionary coach who will turn around a team no matter what, but he's a solid coach & having his decision-making instead of Staley's may be all they need to get to the playoffs.
  5. Tre is not coming back. No CB in the history of the NFL has ever gotten even close to their prior abilities after an achilles tear. We constantly see guys at other positions come back as shells of themselves & are out of the league a year later. Maybe they restructure him into a big pay cut to allow him to rehab, but he isn't ever going to be a key player for us again. I love the guy, and it sucks, but it's time to move on.
  6. I think Von should really consider attending Von Miller's Pass Rush Summit this offseason...
  7. The only time I missed Gabe was when I saw Shakir heading to the locker room with what looked like a dislocated shoulder. I was thinking. "Oh man, we're gonna have to throw more to Sherfield now, I really wish we had Gabe".
  8. When I saw Hamlin switch sides of the formation, then switch back, I knew what was up. What I never could've imagined is that Hamlin himself would be running the ball. I can't fault McD for being aggressive when his Defense was getting gashed every drive, but what an utterly ridiculous way to do it.
  9. Brian Thomas Jr- LSU. 6'4" 205lbs. Deep threat extraordinaire. Overshadowed by Nabers a bit, but could be a just as dangerous. I watched some film on Jayden Daniels & all I kept noticing was Thomas Jr really stood out. I honestly think Nabers/Thomas had more to do with the Heisman season than Daniels himself. I think Thomas is exactly what we need & currently projected in the back third of the 1st round. I also think Troy Franklin is a great fit for us. He's more well-rounded than Thomas Jr, but slightly less explosive.
  10. Larry Johnson had basically the same career as Okoye. Both utterly dominant for 2-3 seasons then faded into obscurity.
  11. Playing through a meniscus tear is tough, depending what type. If it's a bucket-handle tear, the knee can lock up & you can't function the same even with painkillers. The report says it's a minor meniscus tear for Benford, so hopefully he can numb it & play through it & have surgery after the season. There are 2 types of meniscus surgeries. Partial meniscectomy- they cut out the torn piece & it's a 6 week recovery. Or they can do a meniscus repair, which is a 6 month recovery. Repair is typically only done on people under age 25 or so, but Benford fits this age group. Hoping it truly is minor.
  12. Anyone else notice Von drop into coverage on the first defensive series? On the 3rd down play, he dropped & was kinda in the passing lane, I guess you could even say he played a part in forcing the incompletion.
  13. He's gotta be nursing an injury. Doesn't look like the same guy.
  14. I think we'll definitely add a vet WR, on a cheaper deal. But yes, we need a WR in Round 1. I also think we'll target Safety in FA. Another Beane reclamation project who was underutilized or miscast as a CB somewhere else, in the Poyer mold.
  15. Yep, Carolina is the only way Frazier has a chance at actually getting another shot. That job may be the least desirable Head Coach opening in the history of the NFL Whoever takes the job is most likely going to be fired after their first season, Carolina is going to have to hire somebody no other team wants.
  16. When I first moved to my Illinois suburb, I would occasionally see people in Bills gear on. This was during the drought era, so I thought it was odd to see fans here. I excitedly went up & asked the first guy I saw in a Bills shirt if he's a fellow Bills fan. He said, "no, my son plays on the (local in-house peewee football league) Bills". Every time I saw someone wearing Bills stuff, I couldn't help myself & would ask. It was always the same answer. After about the 6th time, I stopped asking people. In-house youth football with NFL team logos is gone here now, & is only travel programs. So if I see Bills gear, it's an actual fan. I'm still reserved about approaching after all those rejections...
  17. I hadn't thought about it, but the Panthers job is about as undesirable of an NFL head coaching gig as there's ever been in the league. - #1 overall pick QB who is way undersized and utterly terrible as a rookie. - No first round pick this year, plus other pick traded away. - Not much talent anywhere on the roster. No FAs are coming there. - The last head coach was fired a few games into his tenure. Surely somebody will take it, but Damn.
  18. The QB can only throw to the open man. The receiver needs to know he has to run his route to the endzone in that situation. If Ty had caught it where he did & made it in for the TD, we'd all be applauding the decision. It's unfortunate that he took a head shot & that no penalty was called, but it was a hell of an effort to hang onto that ball.
  19. It's not even the interviews that take so much time away from Coordinators during playoff planning, prepping for the interviews probably takes 10x more of their time. These coaches need to go into the interview ready to speak on their analysis of that team and what their plan would be to improve it. That takes hours & hours of work, film study on the potential new team, etc. They can't just go in there & wing it. Unless they don't sleep that week, I don't know how they can prep for both an interview & a playoff game.
  20. Von was at LDE on Rapp's INT. He stunted inside & was starting to pressure the pocket up the middle, though he had no effect on the pass. But I agree, he should not have been out there in that situation. It looked like it may not have been a planned stunt & he just took the easier path. If that's the case, hopefully it's the final straw to not playing him.
  21. I've had a Grade 2 MCL sprain. The entire side of my knee was purple/black & the swelling was crazy, it was 6 weeks before I was able to sprint, and even then still limited. Even with NFL doctors, Watt won't be able to play this week.
  22. We need to go back to the Spread. We're using the bunch formations & jumbo packages way too much. Yeah, we're running well out of those, but our WRs aren't getting separation quick enough. Spread it out, and the quick reads will be there again. And Sherfield should only see the field if somebody gets hurt, there's a "miscommunication" more than 50% of the time he's targeted. I think we've all seen enough.
  23. My favorite comparison stat: Bernard has 6.5 sacks so far in his first season as a starter. Edmunds has 6.5 career sacks over 6 seasons.
