Not to nitpick, but what is the purpose of this signing when a proven vet like Mike Vick is out there? I get the idea of a "camp arm", but when there's no proven starter on this roster, why not sign someone to make this a serious competition? I'm leaning 90-10 that Simms will be cut before the season starts, and I get his ties to Rex from his Jets days, but I think that's all this is and essentially serves no purpose. This team is a game-manager-at-best/ don't-lose-the-game QB away from contending for the division (with New England behind the eight ball for the first month...well, til June 23rd, anyway). Why not be a little more damn serious about it?! Just seems as if the organization is going through the motions with this Quarterback "competition".

Garoppolo looks bad in Patriots OTA's

Brady is the new version of Brett Favor... Garrapolo is NOT the new version of Erin Rogers. -
What if Tyrod leads us to a Super Bowl win?
Buffalo Beeeews replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude was a backup in Baltimore for a reason. That being: Very good college QB, bad NFL QB. See: Tim Tebow Vince Young Matt Leinart Brady Quinn Akili Smith Tim Couch Heath Shuler Jamarcus Russell Ryan Leaf ......etcetera. ... Don't really see what all the fuss about Tyrod Taylor is. He may be better than Jeff Teul and that's about it... -
I see what you're saying and I've seen the movie before as well, but what does it say about us that we'd rather play a backup. It's like in school if a bully picks on you for years and years and you finally feel like punching him back in the face full throttle for years of humiliation, and when it's time to fight at the playground, he sends his mom instead. Kind of...(wait for it)...DEFLATING!

At first I was relishing the thought of our mean D feasting on Jeanine Garrafalo, but the more "Deflate-gate" drags on, and the more Mr. Gisele and Bobby Kraft kick and scream and pout to their good buddy, the commish, the more I think I'd just rather play the Pats at full strength with Brady. As if New England didn't have a humongous bulls-eye already being "world champion", now the championship is as tainted as any sports championship in history, no matter the outcome of this. The Bills have been the Pats whooping boy for over a decade, and the more this drags on, the more I'd just rather see the Bills get New England's fall from grace started with a good old fashioned Ralph Wilson Stadium A$$whooping. Anyone?...

Actually, it's worked both ways in my view. In 2008, the Lions went 0-16, and unveiled new unis the next year and improved (how could they not). The 97 Broncos won two straight super bowls after there uni transformation. However, teams like the Jays went from mediocre to just downright terrible after unveiling their XFL-ish unis they sport now. Even our Bills have had glimmers of success after switching to the white helmets in 2011. (9-7 last year...if u wish to label that "success", choice is yours). So I've seen both sides of the coin as far as success with new unis. *Jags

What a moment last evening. Give it up for the Chi-town crowd. Makes you wonder had the draft been held in NYC if those lunatics would've been so kind to Jim. Undoubtedly the highlight of the entire draft thus far (though the pick Jim announced was rather underwhelming) . God bless you, Jim...

Sunday Night Football
Buffalo Beeeews replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know this is just your username, I get it, but I'm gonna pretend you are the actual Roger Goodell and say YOU'RE FULL OF $H!T !!!!! Awesome...that'd bring Dallas' yearly total to four, pending they didn't or don't get flexed before or after week 16! -
I get that Sunday Night Football is the NFL's golden goose, and the league likes the spot for "key" matchup, but my god, it's seemingly the same matchup year in and year out! I'm not necessarily coming at this from a disgruntled Bills fan standpoint (okay...maybe a little), but the league needs to shine the limelight on a few other teams on SNF, imo. It just seems to me that it's all about bigger markets rather than teams that had success in the previous year. When MNF was the "key game of the week" back in the day, it seemed like the NFL was more inclined to give teams with at least winning records the previous year a shot. But SNF just feels so...damn corporate! Year after year, it's the same thing: Dallas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, yada yada yada. Shoved down our throats year after year. Teams that had losing records last year and missed the playoffs that are on SNF this year: San Francisco, The Giants, New Orleans, Chicago and Carolina, all got spots on SNF this year. Again, bigger markets. Just seems unfair to other teams, not just the Bills. The NFL has no issue giving every team a crappy Thursday night game, why not do the same with SNF? Especially since games are rarely flexed late in the year? Thoughts?

Even Tuel will get 1st string reps per Roman
Buffalo Beeeews replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I don't envision him being any better or worse than EJ, Tyrod Taylor or Matt Cassel, when I think of Jeff Tuel I think only of that heinous INT against undefeated KC a few years back that pretty much buried our playoff chances that year. -

As much as it pains me to admit because there's literally no other organization in Pro sports that I despise more than the New England Patriots, it's truly mind boggling to see Tom Brady continue the dominance that he's had on not only this division for the better part of the last 14 years, but the entire AFC. I can remember, as if it were yesterday, a 36 year old Jim Kelly, at the doorstep of his final NFL game at home, when at the time, the Bills were virtually invincible at Rich Stadium in home playoff games, face an upstart Jaguars team in an AFC Wildcard game. I'm sure those who remember the game such as myself will recall not only fans, but the media, gave Jacksonville a snowball's chance in he'll of winning that game. Getting back to Kelly in the game, it was almost as if you knew you were watching an old war horse fight his final battle. Jacksonville went on to win in Kelly's final game, 30-27, and eventually went into probably an even tougher place to win an NFL playoff game (even to this day) in Denver and dispose of another Hall of Fame quarterback, John Elway, before folding in Foxboro in the AFC Championship to Bledsoe and the Pats. Elway eventually went out the way every QB would love to, winning two super bowls in his final two seasons, but the talent around him, including that of Terrell Davis and a good defense, had a lot to do with that. Tom Brady has won four super bowls in six appearances. He's rarely had a formidable running game. The New England defenses have been decent but rarely struck fear in anyone's heart. He's seen offensive supports staff such as Charlie Weiss, Josh McDaniels and others come and go, with Belichick really being the only coaching constant. I'm waiting with baited breath, like all Bills fans, to find a chink in the armor. Anything hopefully in the VERY near future, of a sign that Brady's lost a step. You hear the media as well as fans always say, "is this the year"? It's just incredible While at the same time frustrating. The man is 37 years old, and seemingly looks like he gets better as he gets older, and loses more quality talent as years go by as well. Each year I'm always thinking, "they've lost too much this year" (especially this off-season!). But I'm trying to not say it out loud, because every time I do, the evil empire proves me wrong. With the exception of Elway and Brady, I can't think of many other quarterbacks that have had this much success this late in their careers. I guess this fan is left with nothing left to do except go to bed at night dreaming of that hit by Mario, or Kyle or Jerry, that finally dislodged Brady's jaw...and career. He's gotta retire at some point...right?! #GoBills

Aaron Hernandez Trial---*Guilty*

"We're on to Cincinnati"... -
I get it. Kiko had a phenomenal rookie year in 2013. However, he tore his ACL and Chip Kelly essentially is the one with everything to lose here, as you never know how an NFL player will respond to such a devistating injury such as that one. We got a proven NFL commodity in LeSean McCoy. A bona fide game changer. He was fazed out of Kelly's "razzle dazzle" gimmick college offense that teams eventually caught up with throughout last season. We lose Spiller, which in my opinion, is no great loss. For every one "big play" Spiller broke, there were probably around ten plays CJ was either caught in the backfield for a loss, or wasn't on the field period because the oldest RB in the league was better on the field than he was. Save the story about "who's McCoy running behind" because Fred and Boobie, when they had opportunities, made the most of theirs while CJ was either injured or taking 5 yd losses. Good luck Kiko, I wish him nothing but the best. But we had the third best Defense in the NFL without him, and probably the biggest reason we missed the playoffs last year was because we lacked offensive difference makers. We now have one... Now, we need a quarterback. Stay tuned...

Chicago Bears - Jay Cutler available?
Buffalo Beeeews replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He would be yet another bandaid being put on a deteriorating-by-the-year wound... -
Witg the FA QB crop in as bad of shape as it is, combined with the fact that the Bills don't own a first round pick, if the Bills don't pull off the unlikely blockbuster trade for a viable starter, I say just ride it out with EJ for 2015. If it dont work out, spend the 2016 first rounder on a qb or pray the FA crop is somewhat better next year. I'm not sure what the fascination was with McCown by some fans, but this fan is thankful he wound up in Cleveland...

Brady Quinn wants to give it one more shot
Buffalo Beeeews replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll never forget on draft day when Brady Quinn sat there and sat there as other quarterbacks were selected with the s#!t eatin grin on his face like when he was selected, he'd be paying the teams back for years to come for passing on him. Lmao! The only unfunny thing about this is his best game and one of the few wins of his short lived career came against the Bills on MNF at Ralph Wilson Stadium in the infamous "Trent Edwards Meltdown / Checkdown game. Speaking of which, what's Trentative up to these days? Hmmm...(I'm kidding around of course). It's inevitable... -
If this man is brought in to be on the same roster as Richie Incognito Rex Ryan has officially lost his mind and Pegula is already the new Al Davis.
-
C'mon dude...
-
I understand Rex wants to change the mindset around here with the whole "bully" philosophy, but the Incognito signing was a bit ominous, and quite frankly awfully coincidental after he first spewed the word in his introductory presser. Just sayin, things can't get carried away. Especially after our first winning season in ten years...
