Why has Lane Kiffin been able to gt all these great jobs? He was an abscure college coordinator suddenly elevated to coach the Raiders, then HC at Tennessee, now USC??? Is he that great?

Lynch is a top 5 back in the NFL
zazie replied to Trent is Unstoppable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually liked Travis a lot better. Now travis, that was a beast mode guy from the first day he was here until he left a victim of Donohues idiocy and absolute lack of loyalty or vision. -
Grimm tells us why the Bills gig isn't that good.

AUDIO of 2nd ALLEGATION against LYNCH in 24 hrs
zazie replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The military veteran I must say, is a jerk-off. Adults shouldn't be asking for things to be autographed by athletes. Trix are for Kids. And if they do, and end up with something they can sell on ebay later, well, they should pay. Ex-players MAKE A LIVING going to these autograph shows and siging for $10 or $20 a pop. I am sure that there is smoke to all these uncomfortable allegations and Lynch is a cheap-ass, intmidating, threatening even, close to petty thief character. But the story here, the other guy was wrong, plain and simple. Next time use a kid as a ruse; should ML snag the $20 bucks for a kid, that would be a lot more telling. -
Change NFL OT rules for the playoffs
zazie replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Learn how to pick 'em, would be my best advice. Because the system isnt going to change anytime soon no matter what. -
So the fans were right again. Thanks Marv

So these two irish guys come out of a bar before closing... Could Happen
-
The only guy that would stop me following the Bills is the guy that DID stop me followin the bills, Dick Jauron. I was right back when Fewell came aboard and am here to watch whoever they hire.
-
Yes ok, you're right, they definately made ex-high school coach and NFL college scout Nix, a huge offer and he signed a big contract... I'm just a dummy thinking, likely not.
-
I really like your Ruff/Mularkey comments from the same day! Nice.

Did you honestly think Shanny was coming to Buffalo NY? Cowher, it is just such an incredible longshot. I dont know whty billick wants to come but the fact is, he has expressed an interest.... and been rebuffed. Why? Did he sleep with Nix's daughter? Did he run over RWs dog? Otherwise don't you hire the guy with the clear track record over the longshot (although, they did take Maybin over Orakpo, but this is different). I don't see where Billick and Nix's careers have overlapped at all. Money seems to be the last reason standing. The proof is in the pudding; we are going to have a guy we need to hope can do it, over the established guy who would cost more. DJ over Mike Sherman, MM over whoever was around then, Greggo, over whoever was around then.... Levy was also a cheap hire, and Hank Bullough, and Kay Stephenson. Chuck Knox was the only real and already legit coach RW EVER brought in. Jeez Promo, how much more proof do you need. That said, I hope I am proven wrong and you are right and we end up with Cowher; feel free to gloat away when that happens.
-
Wow you are living in a dreamland. You think Nix is making 1/2 of what Polian makes? More like 1/5. You think the DJ hire, MM hire and Greggo hires were not all made with an eye on the bottom line? You really think they cut Langston 4 days becasue they had to pay him because he was the worst OT guy we had? Jeff Littman is no fool and he knows RWs mandate - save very possible dime. But, by all means please keep the faith that RW is going to spend money to make the team what Buffalo deserves. I am much more prone to think, we need to get lucky for once with the cheapest coordinator also happening to be the best.
-
Wasnt it Lynch that brought his own, into a bar when he was a rookie? Those are the partioes the Stroud didn't invite TO to attend. Betcha TO pays his own bills and doesn't snag others pocket money.....
-
Maybe Marshown thought he was going to sell the autographed $20 bucks on ebay. Probably worth about... $20 bucks.
-
I haven't seen any actual evidence of that at all. Beyond Kelly's 'call'. Anyway it is like trying to hire Obama to be your state senator. Shanny and Cowher, guys he KNEW would not come, RW made overtures to. Billick, a guy we know we CAN get - and the Bills don't want him. Hmmm..... I just hope the coordinator we end up with is the diamond in the rough we are all hoping for.
-
However many years he has owned the team he has underspent every other owner. If he says now, money is no issue, then yes, I am calling him a bald faced liar. By the way I like Nix fine. But you cannot deny he was the cheapest guy for the job.
-
You are going to get your wish it will be Frazzaier or some other coordinator dont worry your robot head
-
You are very naive. Nix hire= cheapest football guy RW could find to do the GM job. Next coach= cheap Coordinator BTW Sherman wasn't back when hired and people blame Levy... but in another huge coincedence, Mike Sherman would have been MUCH more expensive at the time. Jauron had experience but was super cheap to hire. So they could differentiate Jauron from Greggo or MM, but did not have to pay him much more than a first time HC. It ALL comes down to money, and that is NOT going to change as long as RW remains on the mortal coil. In fact, everything is always driven by money, everything else is just a superstructure around... the money - Karl Marx paraphrase
-
Greggo and Mike Mularkey, perhaps? Twice bitten now...
-
If those are the top 15, count on the Bills to get a guy that is not on that list. At least we have a chance t one of them, DJ IS gone, but still a good chance we will go outside the top 15 for our #9 pick. By the way, how did Andre Smith do this year? I didn't hear anything did he start? Did he contribute? Bsed on the extreme negativity that was sent his way as opposed to the high pick he garneres, an interesting question. If he did well it proves Marvs point that the fans don't know s**t.

As I speculated before and I believe to be true, as soon as Billick expressed an interest he de facto disqualified himself from consideration. They made offers to establiched guys that they knew were not going to take the job, Shanny and Cowher, to placate the fan base. RW wants to pay a first time HC salary, not what he would need to pay Billick. Simple and makes the most sense, given the franchise history.

Sept 24 article about Singletary-Frazier relationship
zazie replied to muddy waters's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct. Frazier cannot be judged simply on his similarities to DJ. DJ was and is a monumental ass it is incredible that he came so far in life at all. He really should be packing groceries, if that is not too insulting to grocery packers. -
Money for Marty's advisory role= out of RWs pocket. Again, no go. Maybe Brian Schott is hired, but if so don't expect concrete consultancy role for Marty as that would COST MONEY. We really have to see the forest for the trees here, we are getting a coordinator as HC, and one who can go it alone. You are seeing a mirage, if you are seeing anything else as coach, in the Saharan desert that is RWs Bills
-
Then why reject Billick who is the single capable, experienced, available guy that has expressed an interest? I think the Cowher and Shanny offers were pure red herrrings so Brandon can later tell a bemused fan base that he tried. RW is 91, what do they say about old dogs again?
-
It seems everyone forgets this is RW we are talking about. The pay for HC comes from HIS pocket, not the tv revenue which has an arbitrary split with the players. He has that much less cash than he would, for evey dollar he spends on a HC. We are simply NOT going to get an experienced, winning HC, because IT WILL COST RW MORE MONEY. We are getting a coordinator for sure, because the only experienced head coach that would cost less to hire would be.... DJ!. No Billick, no Fox, no Cowher, put it out of your mind. Sorry to be blunt but I am reacting to 30 years of Bills history here, it is not like we don't have any idea what is coming.
