Kelsay is simply not a decent anything on the football field. Stop with the koolade. He is likely a very decent human being, but he has sucked year after year after year for the Bills. He had ONE good game as a Bill, and it came in this last season. Other than that below average from day one without exception. Draft a 7th rounder to replace him.

For Bills fans, the best part of the year is between the seasons end and the draft, and the first 2-7 weeks ofthe season. The rest is a misery. Enjoy it for the next few weeks!

Jason Peters -- First Team All-Pro
zazie replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bottom line, despite all the negativity surrounding Peters, was that he is a football player. He has an agent, to whom he pays a lot of money, to advise him on all business related to anything not on the football field. He was smart enough to not second guess his agent, who, after all, is a professional negotiator. The hate is mis-placed, and the argument that he could have told the agent what to do is bad logic (if you are going to do that what is the agent getting paid for??). Peters kept his mouth shut and did what the guy he paid to advise him, told him to do. Now he is a perennial all pro at a crucial position, for another team. Peters agent 1, Bills 0 -

Peters has a better character than hollier-than-thou let me foist my virtues on you. He wanted fair money for his services. During his holdout he said not one word, positive or negative, about the bills or buffalo. His agent was in control of the situation, as Peters paid his agent to be. Tebow is a d-bag, I don't know why being religious makes him of good character in many peoples eyes. fior me it is a definate nagative. Peters wanted to get what he was worth, and when Philly paid him, it emontrated that he was correct to want that and he should have gotten it from the Bills. I have no issue with Peters. He wa 100% correct. And he did show up and played for his under-paid contract, per the contract, when the games actually started. -
Bell will be employed next year for sure, hopefully by the Bills. He might as well wait for FA at this point though, see what the market bears for his services.

Substitute the name Stevie for Peters, and it is happening as we speak. -

Clearly Parker was 100% correct in the way he handled it as his guy DID get a huge payday..... and Parker, Peters, me, you, everyone on this board all want to maximize our earnings. it is no surprise. -
Polian brings a winning pedigree and we need that. He should be an immediate hire if he would agree to come. He had 10+ great years in Indy and had now set them up for another 10+ great years by getting them into the position to draft Luck

You hit the nail on the head. Last off season we could have had him for a reasonable bonus and contract. I guess they assumed he was going to suck this year? -

Nope, it was simple, the man wanted market value for his position and stature. restructured contract for RT. Once he proved himself dominant at LT, the contract needed to reflect that change, sorry, Peters was correct. Now we will lose SJ... when we could have had him for a fair contract last off seasosn. It is ridiculous and horrible. I venture to say that NO OTHER TEAM would have lost Peters. -

I will always route for Bell if for no other reason than he is Karl Malones unwanted child from a discarded babymomma. But he is no Jason Peters. -

Of course they learned their lesson. That is why we locked up SJ to a decent contract last offseason and now we cannot lose is services. -

What happens when Nix retires and Whaley bolts to Colts, whose shortlist was at three, now only 2 names including Whaley? Who can posibly be brought in then?
-
not 3 though...as a Bill.

For Brandon it seems to be more like GMquantum physics

We have essentially lost one of our only bright spots in SJ already, due to the fact that he was not extended a year ago when we had some leverage and a good signing bonus and reasonable raise would have done it. Once SJ was through most of the season injury free, it behooved him to not negotiate any further. Unless they extend Byrd and Levitre NOW, expect this exact same thread with different names next year, same bat-time, same bat-place.
-
If Sj feels threatened by a guy who did not make a team in 2011, something is wrong. We signed the guy to be one of 80 guys that comes to training camp and tries to make the team. His situation os so completelydifferent from SJs. Are we supposed to sign no other recievers until SJ is signed?

you dont see montant reed or elway anywhere because they are never on tv..... would not surprise me if one or all of them had similar egos to neon Jeter is blessed there is no doubt about it. What a life.

Must everyone ready 20 pages of another thread? Why these strange hard and fast rules about threads that may be only tangentally related?
-
I also find Stevie a little silly but essentially likeable and a pretty good guy who always came to play. I wish he did not drop crucial passes when he was a Bill. If he plays against the Bills in future, I hope he drops a crucial pass! other thank that really wish him the best. Should the Bills franchise him and keep him, that would be great also.

Sounds like the right move for Nix. Still, do not see that as outsmating SJ and his agent,SJ will either end up with about 9.5m for a season from Buffalo or with a contract that he is satisfied with (ie one with more than 9.5m guaranteed), from another team. Either way SJ has maxed out value for his talent level, for sure. If there was a moment earlyoff season last year that they could have locked up SJ for about 5m per season (and you have to think that would have been possible) then SJ/agent is still the winning team in tghis particular negotiation. A cautionairy tale, in terms of our current position vis a vis Levitre and Byrd. HopefullyNix learned something.

Santonio Holmes takes self out of game WOW

I wish we could find a guy bad enough to get us into the playoffs twice in three years -
Franchise tag it is then. Let's hope so, and maybe leverage the franchise tag into a long term deal. Either way, Stevie's agent handled it cagily for sure, SJ is going to absolutely max his value. Good for him!

dream on. he is not under contract to the Bills, they would have to not just match, but OVERpay 31 other teams significantly, to retain SJs services, just as we have to overpay any other free agent to agree to come play for a perpetual loser in a cold small isolated city. Say hello to LA, NY, or Sf Stevie, I wish you success, I like the way you took care of your business here even if you were a little silly at times.
