Whiny parents (Part 31)
Johnny Hammersticks replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
I have children, and I completely agree with you. My son does amazing at restaurants, and we've been taking him out to eat with us since he was around 1. My daughter, on the other hand, is a complete terror. We know better than to bring her to a restaurant. These people with screaming babies in restaurants make me want to smack them in the forehead with a tack hammer. -

One of the few establishments where a screaming child would go relatively unnoticed. -

Whiny parents (Part 31)

Kids are kids. Some are more challenging than others. I have been fortunate to have two fairly well behaved kids, but I'm not going to pretend that there haven't been moments where I want to sell them to the gypsies. True story. Near the tail end of an epic flight from Syracuse to Fairbanks, AK my son (then 2) was losing his mind. We tried everything from music to toys to walking him up and down the aisle. He was seated next to me on my wife's lap and spontaneously slapped her across the face. Horrified, she handed him to me and I sat him on my lap. He then looked me in the eyes, slapped me in the face, and screamed Daddy d**k head!" It was took every fiber of my being to resist laughing. -

An incident like throwing knives at other customers and screaming, or an incident like a little pouting and foot stomping? -

Of course. I wouldn't drag my kid out of a restaurant for a 5 minute "incident." I would, however, leave the restaurant if my child was screaming and carrying on after a couple attempts at redirection. Fortunately, I have never had to do this. I did this all the time as a waiter. It's amazing what a little cup of maraschino cherries can do (for my tip as well). -

Yeah, and if you can't handle it you ask to have your food packed up/order cancelled, and then you take your kids home. Impolite, IMO, to let your kid throw a fit in a restaurant and ruin everyone else's meal. I was familiar with the junkie. He was my neighbor. -

I am not sure about my pancake thing, but my impression is that the restaurant owner was irritated that the people ordered a menu item, for a very hungry child, that takes a long time to cook. Therefore, the child was left screaming while waiting. Also, what 2 year old eats a full order of pancakes? My daughter will be 2 in November, and when I make pancakes she might have 5-6 pieces and some fruit. My son was the same way. Also, as a parent of 2 children I know that it is a necessity when you go out to eat to bring snacks (ie., cheerios, raisins) for them to chew on while we are waiting for food. Sounds here like the patrons were complete dolts, and the owner may have gone a little over the the top out of frustration. -

If you have children who don't do well in restaurants, or don't plan on tending to your fussy child in a restaurant, order out or get take-out like the rest of us you ignorant, self-centered morons. Edit: If I were the restaurant owner I would have asked the parents to leave...not yell at the child. -
'Cuse Hoops 2014-15 - New York's College Team!!!

LOL....it was more of ejection due to a couple heated verbal altercations. Really, Devo was just being Devo (talking smack) and the opposing player overreacted (IMO). Exciting OT win for Boeheim's Army against the LaSalle Alums. I think they play again on Friday against a NYC team if I am not mistaken. Interesting to see player coach, Lawrence Moten, abandon the zone at the beginning of the 2nd half. In an interview, Moten said that he doesn't really like the zone defense, and that they would be playing more man-to-man moving forward. -
Sunday Ticket - Start your Engines

I called today prematurely (usually make the call beginning of August) because I was having some issues with my HBO On Demand and my satellite reception. I very politely explained my concerns to the first CS agent, and asked them to connect me to speak to someone about cancellation. Turns out, I only have 5 months left on my contract, so I knew I had some leverage. I was connected immediately with customer retention, a very friendly young lady, and again explained my concerns. Anyway, she asked me if there was anything they could do to keep me as a customer. I've been a subscriber since 2005. I told her that I didn't want to extend my contract, and with that in mind, I would be willing to listen to offers for credits/discounts. She gave me a $15 credit off my bill for 15 months, free HBO for 12 months, and Sunday Ticket Max for free this year ($675 total discounts). Additionally, they are sending out a technician (for free) to look at my satellite and other hardware to make sure everything is functioning properly. I feel good about this. -

It's nice that she has found someone special who clearly would need to be accepting of her sexual proclivities. I wonder if he gets pissed about all the animal hair in the bedroom? -

A little good news. Per Mike Waters of Syracuse.com, Diagne's only issues are related to his HS transcripts from overseas. Reportedly, he should be ready to go for the fall semester. -
