My Case For: Lamar Jackson
Johnny Hammersticks replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think LJ is underrated as a passer, and has gotten a lot better at reading defenses and going through his progressions. His footwork needs some help, which affects his accuracy at times, but this is something that can be fixed. He has rare arm talent, good instincts, and very good pocket presence, IMO. Very high ceiling, and the athleticism is merely a bonus that will surely reigned in in the NFL. I’m not saying he’s a sure fire franchise guy, but I think the Tyrod 2.0 cliche is growing tiresome. -

This is a lazy assessment, IMHO. -

Heard this way a good one from a colleague yesterday. Going to check it out tonight. I’m in a show hole again after finishing Peaky Blinders. Started watching The Americans on Amazon. E1 was pretty good. -
Service/Support Animal Crackdown
Johnny Hammersticks replied to T&C's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I was listening to a NPR show recently where they were discussing emotional support animals. Essentially, they were saying that anyone can easily go online and have just about any animal “certified” as an emotional support animal for a fee of a couple hundred bucks. They took several callers, and a few of them flat out admitted that they got their dogs/cats certified purely because it was cheaper than paying for them to fly the regular way. -

Best sub or hoagy ever

I went to Oswego for grad school l (04-07), and I hit up the sub shop just about every night after the bar. The cheeseburger sub was very good, but I also used to get the mixed Italian a lot. They had this homemade spicy pepper relish that was just unreal. I miss that place. Rudy’s was another one of my go-to spots. Best fried fish sandwich and ice cold beer. So good. -
Anyone doing the Tide Pod challenge?
Johnny Hammersticks replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I actually did smoke morning glory seeds a long time ago. I think I was like 14 or 15 years old, and my older brother told my friends and I that if you smoked the seeds you got high similar to smoking pot. I knew what pot was because my brother smoked up in his room all the time, but I had not yet tried it. So we went to the store, bought a few packets of seeds, and went out in the woods and smoked some out of a homemade pipe we fashioned from the end of an old garden hose. I remember being disappointed because all I felt was a headache. True story. IIRC, dried banana peels were another thing that were “rumored” to get you high if your smoked them. Never tried that though. Eventually, I just started smoking weed -
If they make snow plows illegal, then only criminals will have snow plows.

I once smoked a packet of morning glory seeds because I heard that it made you high. This was last weekend. -

Sounds like a typical Saturday night in the Hammersticks’ bedroom...sans the wife’s lover thing. -

I don’t know if it’s a New England thing or a Vermont thing, but they love to put shredded cabbage on subs here. At first I was appalled and wouldn’t try it. It since has grown on me. Adds a nice crunch to the sandwich. As long as the cabbage is shredded super thin. At most places it’s either cabbage or romaine leaves. No shredded iceberg. Not a big fan of romaine on my sub. -

I dunno...maybe because most of these people learned how to drive in the mountains or VT.

Just a hunch. Huge international airport. Good infrastructure. Lots of universities. I also heard that they offered up a huge plot of developable land adjacent to the airport. -
Confirmed: Concussions don't cause CTE
Johnny Hammersticks replied to Mr. WEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember back in the day before concussions were “a thing” quite literally regaining consciousness on the playing (lacrosse) field. I’d just get up and keep playing. Now, one of my players takes even a little hit, and I’m almost certain to lose him for the rest of the game. Probably the next game too. I’m all about safety, but I think things have gotten a little carried away. -

I realize the list is in alphabetical order, but I would be surprised if Atlanta didn’t get it. -
I was driving south from Burlington to Middlebury yesterday during a pretty decent snow storm.....more vehicles in the ditches than on the road. All Vermonters. What the hell? Why don’t these people know how to drive in the snow?? Best thing about it was nearly half of the vehicles off the road were these giant 4 wheel drive trucks

With all the cadavers in the Minni missing their knee ligaments...no thanks. Same for Bradford, IMO. Both an awkward fall away from amputation.
