My father talks about his childhood in that manner. Had to wear socks on his hands in winter because they couldn’t afford gloves. Family mainly survived by hunting/fishing. And they ate EVERYTHING! Haha. Needless to say my father still eats mayonnaise sandwiches to this day. Makes me want to barf.

Adding a player like Greedy Williams or Josh Allen in the first round would not be a terrible thing. I don’t know why some folks are so rock-headed about only drafting offense in the first round. BPA with that first pick.

My parents (well mainly my evil stepmother) got caught up in a weird pyramid scheme about 10 years ago. It was for some phone company that was based in NC, IIRC. My stepmother pissed off a lot of her friends and family members trying to coerce them to switch their phone service. I was in grad school, and I remember having to attend one of their “parties” for which a “representative” of the company pulled into the driveway in his BMW with his $2000 suit. Gave his sales pitch to myself and a few other people my stepmother lured in. It was weird and cultish *****. My parents were pissed at me for not getting involved. IIRC, they lost a bunch of money. We don’t talk about that at family gatherings ?

Allen is the only reason I’m not completely in favor of tank mode.

I don’t eat them anymore, but when I was a kid I used to enjoy peanut butter and jelly with iceberg lettuce and a slice of American cheese. My parents swear that I didn’t learn about them from anyone...just made it up and rolled with it.

I wasn’t able to watch the game, as I was driving all over VT today for my son’s hockey games. I have it recorded....I probably won’t watch. I knew coming into this game that ODU was a very tough defensive team, and would give SU a game. I think they’re ranked in the top 20 in ppg allowed, IIRC. Recipe for disaster for Syracuse who is playing a very ugly brand of basketball right now. How does JB seem to pull it all together by the end of the season most years? Last season they looked like a NIT team at best, and made a run to the final 4. I just don’t get it. This team has waaaaaay too much talent to be sucking so badly right now. So disappointing. Hopefully JB has some of that magic left in the tank.

Goodin is the forgotten child in this draft class; being overshadowed by Guerrier and JG3. I hear he’s been tearing it up this season and over last summer. Another great job of early recruiting by the coaching staff just like they did with Dion Waiters and Tyus Battle. Recognize their talent before the “big boys” can get to them. Don’t forget about 4* C/PF Qudus Wahab who just postponed his decision date, many speculate, to wait and see where Stewart goes. I expose my kids to “hard drugs” in a similar fashion. I take them over to Walmart and point out the “itchy scratchy” people.

You judgmental bastard!! jk Yeah, I frequently takes nights off from drinking without even thinking about it. I’m pretty sure I’m not “dependent.” I do like a couple glasses of good dry red wine though! I also will have drinks in front of my kids. Especially watching football on Sundays. No biggie. It’s a part of life that they are going to encounter eventually. Might as well model for them how to do it safely and responsibly.

I have a chef friend who drank Tito’s on the rocks just about all day long...every single day. Ruined his career temporarily, ***** up reltionships with his family, lost his wife. I remember when he finally went to rehab. I was appalled at how physically dependent he was on the booze. It was like he was dying. Throwing up, sweating profusely, borderline psychotic. The worst of it lasted nearly a week. Very scary. He’s been clean for a while now and has straightened out his life. That’s a bit extreme, but certainly someone who I would consider an alcoholic. Then and now even though he hasn’t had a drink in year. Just opened up a restaurant/hotel in Napa as Exec Chef, BTW.

I have 2-3 glasses of wine or beers just about every night after the kids go to bed. I guess if you add it all up I might have 20-25 drinks per week (a few more on weekend nights). Some might consider me to be an alcoholic I guess. I guess where I draw that line is whether or not the hooch has a negative impact on your life functioning. Are you able to wake up and be productive at work? Are you able to be kind to and provide for your family? Are you able to have a few drinks without being an *****? Do you know when is enough? Alcohol doesn’t negatively impact my life (except for the few extra pounds and the rare mild hangover). Bottoms up!
