  1. Bottom line, this was an embarrassing loss and the entire organization should be angry and ashamed.
  2. I wish you were right, I really do, but I just don't agree. The good news: This was a game we should have lost anyway. Jets at home, it was much more important to them Bad News: We played very poorly. No pass rush. Fitz was awful. Defensive secondary was gross. I'm very concerned about this game.
  3. Spags, You sir are hilarious! You're talking pretty big though for barely seeing the field on a D-III Football team that won 3 games in four years. Yes, the St. Lawrence Saints...Mr. Cooper you are revealed.
  4. Cooper, you are hilarious. Even though we know you'll go MIA (not Miami, Missing in Action) once the season starts and the Jets drop in the standings faster than someone who owes you money, I think you should try to have a weekly chat with the Bills fans. Cooper...I know that's you.
  5. Chandler has to be in the 4.1 range! I mean he caught 5 balls and scored 2 TDs!
  6. Isn't Pat Moran the same guy who started the rumor that B.C. got shot at a Timon Dance back in 1994?
  7. First you post a rumor, then you try and substantiate it by referencing two irrelevant websites that poseted it weeks ago, but call it breaking news. Now you are slowing referencing details which imply you know exactly what's going on. If you're so sure of this story, post what you know and stand behind it. Otherwise, drop it. My guess is that the Bills are responding to the Vick story. The commissioner of the NFL potentially interfering in player transactions particularly when he may have influenced a player to sign with one team at the expense of another is egregious. Whether or not we wanted Vick here (I for one didn't want that dog murderer on our roster), the precedent is terrible.
  8. This "no one wants to play in Buffalo" is ridiculous. First, has anyone ever been to Green Bay, Kansas City, Oakland, Minneapolis, Detroit, Cleveland, or even Houston for that matter? Buffalo is no worse than any of these places. The real reason players are nervous about coming to Buffalo is the fact that we haven't been to the playoffs in 11 years. We've had no continuity at the top of the organization, with the coaching staff, at the QB position, and as a result haven't been successful during that time. Second, a large percentage of NFL players are not coming from big cities. They don't have a bias against Buffalo because they are all from Chicago, NY or LA. Furthermore, most of the college campuses are in the middle of nowhere, so it's not like the players will only go to play for colleges in big cities, otherwise Boston College, Rutgers, Miami, and Northwestern would dominate year in and year out. Bottom line is that just like a corporation, an NFL team has to display a committment to excellence otherwise the top talent will not want to play there. If you were a top executive would you want to go work for a unstable company that consistantly failed to meet expectations and was losing market share, no. The Bills need to establish themselves as a stable, solid franchise that puts winning before all else. It'll take some time, but once that happens, we can compete with the rest of the NFL for free agent talent and the "Buffalo" stigma will be a non-issue.
  9. I hate to say it, but I think we are going to be in the bottom 3 in the league next year. The usual bad teams have all improved. Maybe the Rams are worse than us. Cleveland is much better, they've beaten us the last 2 years. The Raiders are MUCH better than the Bills. The Lions are on the right track. However, I am hopeful that the draft was a good one. We won't know for a few years, but they stuck to their guns and brought in players that can fill some needs (and yes, a playmaking RB was a huge need). If I had to fathom a guess at where we will rank next year, I would say we will be in the top 5 along with the following: St. Louis Tampa Bay Jacksonville Kansas City Of those 4, you could make the argument that the Rams won't be drafting a QB. The Bucs won't likely be drafting a QB either. Jacksonville should be and KC is a wild card.
  10. Oh...I didn't realized that Ozzie Newsome was on the board. What I said was that I would TRY if I were the Bills. As for the Ravens, it COULD make sense if they can get a good value for him. Most opinions have this as a very deep draft. If they got a high second round pick for Gaither and have Oher in the wings, then its a possibility.
  11. HA! Hysterical...good post.
  12. First, I would try to get Gathier from the Ravens. He's worth the second round pick. However, I'd try to pry him away for some other combination first, maybe a third this year and a third next year. Or a third this year and maybe Lynch. If that doesn't work, then give them the second this year. Then, I would attempt to trade down if one of the following two scenarios were presented to the Bills. If 1 of the top 4 OTs are left or if Clausen is still on the board. Basically try to switch slots in the first and pick up that second we gave away. Then, assuming we are somewhere in the middle of the first round, try to get either a NT or someone to shore up the defensive front 7. Best available. If we can't trade down, take a look at Dan Williams or Clausen. Also, i wouldn't be opposed to trading a 5th rounder for Jason Campbell. Throw him in the the mix, low risk move.
  13. Someone made a good point that we are not drfting to win the Super Bowl this year, so Clausen might be the right pick, at least versus trading for McNabb. I think if the Bills address OL and QB in the first two rounds, in either order, then I'll be happy. The big scare I have is that the top-4 OT may be off the board by 9. If that's the case, then I think you either stick with Clausen and hope to get an second tier OL in round 2 (or try to patch together a line in free agency) or try to improve the D with McClain or Williams. However, if they do draft Clausen, I think they need to sit him on the bench for a year and let him learn (aka, protect him from that terrible line so he's not a mental midget by 2011). Either way, we have a lot of good options in a deep draft. Let's just hope we don't go off the reservation and draft a CB, WR, RB, or S with the first few picks.
  14. It's a moot point bro, relax. He's on the team regardless of what the Packers or the rest of the league think of him. Let's hope he's successful. If not, nothing gained, nothing ventured.
  15. I don't think anyone is saying the Bills are going into the season thinking that Brohm is going to be the second coming of Jim Kelly. I think what people are saying (who are defending Brohm), is that we have three guys on the roster. Two of them have significant playing time in the NFL so they can be properly evaluated. One of them does not. The one that does not has been somewhat of a disappointment in his career, up to this point, but has never actually been giving an opportunity to succed. So let's refrain from judging that player right now, until either the Bills cut him or he gets a chance to play. The extreme opinions on the one side of this are astounding (not you Ozymandius).
  16. Brohm and Flynn were drafted in 2008, before Aaron Rogers ever started a game in the NFL. The Packers drafted both of these guys thinking Favre was gone and they were going into the season with an unproven guy. They didn't know whether or not Rogers would be the franchise guy he is today, so they drafted a couple insurance policies, knowing they probably wouldn't have all three guys there for long. As it turned out, Rogers is excellent and the other two guys were fighting for a backup spot. Flynn obviously looked better, so they kept Flynn and put Brohm on the practice squad. The Bills saw an opportunity late last year to pick up a guy who was highly touted coming out of school and put in a situation where he didn't have much of an opportunity to play, figuring, why not? It doesn't cost them anything. It's a low risk, high potential return move. Maybe he is a late bloomer and meets the expectations most experts had put on him, or maybe he doesn't. Either way, the Bills lose nothing. I thought it was great move because at the end of the day, the Bills haven't had to give up anything. They picked up him up primarily to get used to the organization and try to come in and compete during training camp. So...what exactly is the big issue with that?
  17. Very reasonable assessment. He may be good, he may never play a down in the NFL again. Those are all possibilities. Anyone who says either exteme will happen for sure is just guessing.
  18. Great Post. The bottom line is that nobody knows what Brohm is really about at this point. He was pretty highly regarded coming out of college, but hasn't been able to translate that into success in the NFL yet. However, the kid is very young. It's just ridiculous to make a snap judgement on him. It really cost the Bills nothing, they are not relying on him to start this year, so what's the big deal. IMO, they just added the equivilent of a rookie QB with some potential. Maybe he makes it, maybe he doesn't, but it's impossible to say that anyone definitively knows what will happen with him.
  19. Everyone plays a couple cupcakes. The point it that the SEC is generally regarded as one of the top if not the top conference in the NCAA. He won a national title and a heisman trophy. He DOMINATED in college. It's unreal that people are trying to discredit his college accomplishments. Again, it doesn't mean he's going to be a great QB, good QB or terrible QB. It just means that he had a great college career.
  20. Very accurate comment. No one knows for sure what kind of QB Tebow will be in the NFL. It's amazing when people think they can make that judgement before the kid has even been drafted. There are two things about Tebow that cannot be argued though; he was a winner in college and has the drive to succeed. He's working hard, taking criticism, and getting prepared for the draft, which should be viewed as a positive. He doesn't think anything should be handed to him, he's working for it. I think it's refreshing for a change. I'd love to see him in a Bills uniform. Not saying that I guarantee he's going to be a great quarterback, but I think he has a good chance to be one.
  21. They are not on there because the Pats didn't draft them. If the argument is that the Pats are great at drafting players or 'diamonds in the rough', like Chung, then Moss and Welker are irrelevant. The Pats have had some great picks, no doubt, but in the last few years especially, they haven't fared too well, other than Mayo. The Patriots have been the most successful team of the 00s, that's hard to debate. I don't think the reason is that they are great in the draft. They got EXTREMELY fortunate with Tom Brady (which you have to give them credit for) and the rest is average to below-average.
  22. That a great point and I totally agree. Everyone just takes it as gospel that the Pats and Belichek draft incredibly well. The fact is they are as good at the draft as most other teams in the league. Their real differentiator is the fact that they have picked up some great free agents and are better preparing their team week to week than most other staffs in the NFL. Has anyone even bothered to look at their past drafts? They've had some good picks and some terrible ones. 2008 - New England Patriots Rd Sel # Player Position School 1 10 Jerod Mayo ILB Tennessee 2 62 Terrence Wheatley CB Colorado 3 78 Shawn Crable OLB Michigan 3 94 Kevin O'Connell QB San Diego State 4 129 Jonathan Wilhite CB Auburn 5 153 Matt Slater WR UCLA 6 197 Bo Ruud LB Nebraska 2007 - New England Patriots Rd Sel # Player Position School 1 24 Brandon Meriweather DB Miami (Fla.) 4 127 Kareem Brown DT Miami (Fla.) 5 171 Clint Oldenburg T Colorado State 6 180 Justin Rogers LB Southern Methodist 6 202 Mike Richardson DB Notre Dame 6 208 Justise Hairston RB Central Connecticut State 6 209 Corey Hilliard OT Oklahoma State 7 211 Oscar Lua LB USC 7 247 Mike Elgin G Iowa 2006 - New England Patriots Rd Sel # Player Position School 1 21 Laurence Maroney RB Minnesota 2 36 Chad Jackson WR Florida 3 86 David Thomas TE Texas 4 106 Garrett Mills RB Tulsa 4 118 Stephen Gostkowski K Memphis 5 136 Ryan O'Callaghan T California 6 191 Jeremy Mincey LB Florida 6 205 Dan Stevenson G Notre Dame 6 206 Le Kevin Smith DT Nebraska 7 229 Willie Andrews CB Baylor 2005 - New England Patriots Rd Sel # Player Position School 1 32 Logan Mankins G Fresno State 3 84 Ellis Hobbs CB Iowa State 3 100 Nick Kaczur T Toledo 4 133 James Sanders SAF Fresno State 5 170 Ryan Claridge LB Nevada-Las Vegas 7 230 Matt Cassel QB USC 7 255 Andy Stokes TE William Penn 2004 - New England Patriots Rd Sel # Player Position School 1 21 Vince Wilfork NT Miami (Fla.) 1 32 Benjamin Watson TE Georgia 2 63 Marquise Hill DE Louisiana State 3 95 Guss Scott SAF Florida 4 113 Dexter Reid SAF North Carolina 4 128 Cedric Cobbs RB Arkansas 5 164 P.K. 23. If that's the number of times that he's appeared on the injury report, then Tom Brady's would be 2 miles long. I don't think anyone is saying that going after Jones would be a 100% certain cure to the O-line issues. I think the point is that while going after Jones would be a risk, it's a calculated risk. It's short money and potentially makes the line a whole lot better.
