Pats* pull another one out of their posteriors
dubs replied to BRH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely agree with that also. No doubt. It's just going to be another loss though. That time is nearing an end also. Pats are in stage 4 out of 5 stages, the good enough to win in the reg season but not go all the way and it's getting worse stage. They are about 6 years away from legitimately contending again. -
Pats* pull another one out of their posteriors

???? Looks like someone's had one too many Brubakers at the BHP. Two facts: 1) NFL is becoming much less enjoyable because of the increased influence of the referee 2) The pass interference in question was the equivalent to a fly disrupting the path of a moving train 3) The Pats will be lucky to win a single game in the playoffs. Guarantee that they don't win the Super Bowl with that garbage roster. I guess that's 3 -
Pats* pull another one out of their posteriors
dubs replied to BRH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Call was beyond tickey tack, it wasn't PI. The extremely minor contact, which you could only see from close inspection, did absolutely nothing to change the receivers path, at all. It's was a brutal call and completely wrong. If that's PI then it should be called on almost every passing play. The trend of referees being centerpieces of the games is discouraging. It's understandable in the spirit of safety, but disrupting fair competition is tarnishing the game and making it less fun to watch. This is for all games, not just in favor of the pats. -

I didn't say every win was against a bad team. Pats are done. No doubt in my mind. If they win a Super Bowl in the next 3 years I'll eat crow. Highly doubt it though. -
Pats* pull another one out of their posteriors

I think people are missing the larger point. The Patriots are DONE. It's clearly apparent from watching them. They struggle to win almost every week even against bad teams. They aren't physical, have terrible receivers, and Brady is on the downside of his career. His play is noticeably in decline. They will be lucky to win a playoff game. In the event they get out of the extremely weak AFC, they are going to get demolished by the NFC team. It's over folks. Time to focus on the bills improving and hopefully getting a good young QB. Next year and every foreseeable year after the division is up for grabs. -

Not a chance. NE has a slightly better chance than buffalo. Which is to say NE is toast. They are a bad team, regardless of their record. -

I can't wait to see the Pats get stream rolled in the playoffs again. My guess is round 2. Cincy comes in and beats them 42-7. -
Does anybody care about the rest of the season.
dubs replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now that the bills playoff chances are done, I don't put as much emotion into the games. So if that's what you mean by care, sure. But I think every game is important especially for a young team like this. If they win 3 of 4 and Manuel looks good, I'll feel very good about heading into next season. So in that's sense, yes I care. -
Bills Sign TE Tony Moeaki to the Active Roster
dubs replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While Moeaki has been injury prone, the goods news is that it's not like he's been injuring the same part of his body (i.e. Left Knee). I like the effort, give him the end of the season and off season to get acclimated. True test will come in the pre-season. He's young, talented, maybe it pans out. -
Cool man. Thanks!

It's a good point, but I am not sure how absolutely correct that is. For example, while adding two metro areas for the Bills, you'd also have to do the same for all the other metro areas in the US. I would be interested to see that analysis. My suspicion is that it's the same story.

I really don't understand all the hated toward Ralph. I understand the frustration about the results of the team over the last 14 years, but come on. If you are referring to the fact that he hasn't sold the team to someone that would ensure the Bills stay in Buffalo, I'd like to redirect your spite to the fact that this city is declining in relative population and has been doing so for generations. That's the ONLY reason why the idea of the Bills leaving is even being entertained. Relative Rank of Buffalo: 1960: 20th 1970: 28th 1980: 39th 1990: 50th 2000: 59th 2013: 73rd So let me ask you this, if you owned a business that when you started it was in the 20th largest market in the Country, but years later dropped to the 73rd largest market, what would you do? You'd pick up and move. That's what rationale business people do. Now I recognize that Ralph and the Bills still make money, but the market isn't competitive like it used to be. In my opinion, the dopes in charge of this area and the people voting for them are to blame.

It's worthless in the sense that they are not traded. However, I do believe that if the team was sold, the shareholders would get the proceeds. In all likelihood, this would never happen. If it did, people who bought 100 shares at $5 bucks back in the 1930 would have done pretty well. Their $500 would turn into $25,000. I know that this is banned by the NFL, but the other reason is that you'd need a serious lead to this. For example, you'd likely need a primary investor to lead the purchase. Someone with enough cake to slap down a few hundred million. Then they'd have to hire an investment bank to do the underwriting and sell the shares in some type of offering. That process would increase the price tag by at least a $100m. It would be awesome, I would certainly buy some shares. I also agree with the point that was made that anything CAN change. However, you'd need a seriously influential and wealthy person to lead this process. Way above the Jon Bovi pay grade.

It's worth something. Most recently valued about about $250 per share, according to the last share offering in around 2011 as far as I can tell. In total, this article shows about 5m shares outstanding. At 250 per share that's about a 1.25bn franchise. http://johntorinus.com/general-blog/are-packers-worth-1-25-billion/ Would be cool if buffalo could do the same. Unfortunately we know they cannot.

Very tough call, much of it depends on the details. If they moved to Toronto and changed the name to the Toronto Bills (or Toronto Mounties or whatever), then no. If they moved to Niagara Falls (either side) and kept the name, obviously yes. If they do move to Toronto (or anywhere), I do reserve the right to change allegiances to former teams I hated simply because they are good and I want to win it all someday.

You generally only see a few "Stud" Free Agents each offseason and a bunch of middling, depth guys. There's a lot to happen between now and the free agent signing period, but here's a few of the WRs and TEs that, as of now, would be available via free agency. Tight Ends: http://www.spotrac.com/free-agents/nfl/tight-end/ Pitta, Fred Davis and Pettigrew are interesting. No way Jimmy Graham becomes an UFA and Gonzales will get re-signed or retire. He's not going anywhere. Wide Receivers: http://www.spotrac.com/free-agents/nfl/wide-receiver/ Decker, Boldin, and Nicks would fit the Bill for a big, physical, receiver. I'd be surprised if Decker makes it to FA. Boldin is getting up there in age. Nicks is super intriguing. I can't believe he's only 25. He's had a TON of injuries, but when healthy, guy is a monster.

15 Yard Penalty against Falcons, only moved back 10 yards
dubs replied to Wattdogg35's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this is the play that you are referring to: 3rd and 5 at BUF 5 (Shotgun) S.Jackson up the middle to BUF 1 for 4 yards (K.Alonso, J.Byrd). PENALTY on ATL-H.Douglas, Unnecessary Roughness, 15 yards, enforced at BUF 1. What looks like what happened was the penalty was enforced at the 1 yard line, so it was backed up to the 16. I remember at the time wondering why it was still 3rd down. I thought the penalty happened after the play was over, so it should have been 4th and Goal from the 16. Not that it would have mattered, the next play was the Defensive PI in the end zone. -
I hope Branch stays. Would you like to see him go or do you think he's going to get let go? I agree and think Byrd is likely gone, unfortunately. I'd like him to stay but not sure he's worth top-3 safety money.

The refs are terrible, but that shouldn't have even been an issue. The refs didn't cause Stevie or Scottie to fumble. That's the reason we lost, period.

nice post! Luckily it looks like the core of this team (which is primarily young), will still be intact. Kolb really needs to retire for his sake and ours. Also, Eric Decker is a Free Agent next year. Probably going to be tough to get, but he's the type of receiver we need. Big, physical, makes tough catches.

Probably too early, but yesterday was disgusting and it might help to move forward. I was checking our 2014 free agents, the list is actually pretty decent. http://www.spotrac.com/free-agents/nfl/buffalo-bills/ Jairus Byrd 27 $6,916,000 Dan Batten 25 Alan Branch 28 $3,000,000 Dan Carpenter 28 $555,000 Alex Carrington 26 $846,000 Mike Caussin 26 $358,000 Scott Chandler 28 $2,975,000 Tashard Choice 29 $620,000 Chris Hogan 25 $405,000 Jim Leonhard 31 $555,000 Thaddeus Lewis 26 $391,764 Antoine McClain 23 $285,882 Arthur Moats 25 $1,351,000 Brian Moorman 37 $391,765 Frank Summers 28 $480,000 Thomas Welch 26 $630,000 Jamaal Westerman 28 $555,000 Who would you want to resign? Obviously I would love to resign Jairus, but that may not be as easy said as done. Branch would be a good resigning, so would Carp and Carrington. I think Chandler is gone. Choice would be a good resign for something similar to what he's on for now. Summers would be nice to have also. But no one on there is irreplaceable.

Whats the rule on running picks?
dubs replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the rule is that you can block as long as the ball is thrown to a receiver behind the line of scrimmage. That happened on the final Atlanta drive. That's what I think you are referring to. I could be wrong though. -
Exactly!!!!!!

Remain Calm, all is not as lost as it appears
dubs replied to HopefulFuture's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's always a subset of fans that think if we do this or do that then we are never in a position like we were today at the end of the game. Guess what: THIS IS THE NFL. Mediocre is the standard in the league!! Most games come down to a possession. Good teams win those games! The Pats went down to the wire with the Texans...and Won! Because they make plays at the end and we don't. Stating that we should have connected on a few bombs early in the game completely takes the glaring screw ups at the end of the game when we were in winning position and diminishes them. But you are right. If Buffalo played a perfect game and EJ went 30-30 with 400 yards and 3 TDs we probably aren't in that position at the end. Ugh... -

dubs replied to HopefulFuture's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll do you one better. I'm effin furious at the result of the game yet optimistic about the long term of this team. EJ and the deep ball will be fine. He's ok. So soon we forget the nice throws in the Jets game. Today EJ overthrew a couple but they were good decisions and decent throws. Not sure if even a perfect ball would have resulted in a completion. In summary...that was atrocious and I'm disgusted. Hopefully next year is better.
