  1. Exactly. Also, wouldn't it make sense that the better the team is, the more revenue it bring in and the more expensive it is to purchase. The more expensive it is to purchase, the more likely it is to move to a market that can increase the ROI? I think it's about a 50/50 proposition at this point.
  2. 2014 Immediately following the passing of Ralph Wilson and potentially deadly illness of Jim Kelly: Fans that go home and kick their dogs come out of the woodwork to also kick a Bills franchise in its time of mourning, instead of offering any respect whatsoever. See Nothern, Gabe
  3. I agree, this likely won't happen. As far as I know, there's not any speculation that the Bills are interested in him or any trade talks between the two teams. That being said, it's an interesting topic. I think in some cases, it's worth taking a risk by trading and paying a guy. This could be a good example. First, there is really no guarantee that drafting a Guard in the 3rd or 4th round will work out. In fact, no matter how deep the draft is, chances are better that the draft pick flames out than he becomes a solid NFL starter. It's just statistics.
  4. yeah...i think that's spot on with the Bills philosophy. Hope it works out, so far, not so much.
  5. True. Maybe they didn't think Levitre was that good or worth the $8.6m cap hit per year. Levitre makes a base of $6.5, his signing bonus is prorated $2.1 per year. Would giving up a 4th rounder and restructuring the Mathis contract to give him a $1m raise per year or a big signing bonus seem worth it? At this point in the offseason, why not try to use up the difference is what cap space you have left and what need to do to sign your draft picks so you can front load as much as possible and keep the cap flexibility in years to come?
  6. If you can get an All-Pro or even above average starter at guard in the 3rd, sure. Why wouldn't you do that. If it was that easy though, everyone would have great guards. Unfortunately, it's not really that easy.
  7. Probably more posturing by the Eagles FO than reality, but I'd give up a third for him, maybe a second. That's one way to replace Levitre (and Williams). link attached: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/eagles/Eagles-also-shopping-Evan-Mathis.html
  8. I am sure there are a lot of threads about the future of the Bills right now and a lot of speculation about what will happen in the immediate future and in the next 7 years. But that's exactly what it is. It's complete speculation. There are WAY too many variables to predict what will happen. Simpletons that simply look at the out clause in the lease and that LA doesn't have a team are only looking at a small minority of the factors. The bottom line is we really have NO idea what will happen. Personally, I think there are more factors in favor of the Bills staying than leaving, but to say that they WILL stay is just as obnoxious and guess work. We don't know and we won't know until they say they are moving or they say they are in the process of building a new stadium with a new owner here in the region.
  9. Thanks Dr. Fong!! I was curious about that. Haven't really been able to get any good sources about if/when the Bills will leave. I really appreciate it! On an unrelated note, can you tell me what the next lotto numbers will be?
  10. Sad day for the Wilsons and for Buffalo Bills fans. RIP Mr. Wilson.
  11. Wait, Buffalo has a Top-10 Defense? Sanchez was a Top-10 QB? What are you talking about? If you sub bottom for top, then you might be onto something. Again, what are you talking about? The Bills defense was good at turning the ball over, that's the only metric it was top-10. The second half of the schedule was the easy half as well. So you can't pick and choose what weeks you like and then call them a premier defense. They were better, for sure. I think they are headed in the right direction, but they were nothing approaching a top-10 defense last year.
  12. hah. well, the upside in that is a smart contract lets you cut criminals with no financial commitment.
  13. It really all depends (like mostly all FA signings and guys getting cut or letting them walk) on the terms of the contract. IMO, Brit is a huge talent with a ton of risk. He's proven that he both has the skills but also will screw up. If we got him to sign for a really low number and little guarantees, what's the downside? But we certainly don't want to get into a bidding war with other teams.
  14. Our defense was better than in recent years past, but still not that good. We gave up the most points in the AFC East last year but scored the second most (behind NE).
  15. Spikes I worked out ok. Let's hope Spikes II is even better.
  16. The Pats signed Revis last night and came to Wilfork today to ask him to restructure his deal. He said no way. However, something must have happened during that conversation to ask him to request a release.
  17. more than anything, I think he would bring leadership and a winning attitude. I would love to see him here. Definitely on the downside of his career, but I think to build a winning team, you need a good mix of veterans and young guys. I would love to see him in Bills red, white, and blue. FWIW. WEEI was just talking about him going to Buffalo and re-uniting with Pepper Johnson if he gets released.
  18. I understand the frustration on the playoff drought, but do you not think other teams have players leave each year? Do you think the Bills are the only team to lose players each year? San Fran let Whitner leave this YEAR. Greer, Poz?? HA! There were three tackles on the market this year that are as good or better than Peters. Winfield was like 10 years ago. The primary difference is teams with good QBs win and don't get criticized when players leave.
  19. Yawn. Same old false story. 1) winning teams have one thing in common, a great QB. We neglected that position for two decades. If EJ steps up, all of a sudden the Bills will have a 'Winning Culture' 2) Most players don't live in the city they play for all year round. The weather in Buffalo from June through October is arguably the best in the country. (Orlando is disgusting as is a large percentage of Florida - no thanks) 3) Paying big bucks to free agents isn't really the best way to build a team. It's been talked about, ad nauseum.
  20. 18.30: SIGNING! The Bills have been busy today haven’t they? One time first round pick and most recently former Giant Keith Rivers has signed a two-year deal for $5m according to James Walker. Rivers has never quite grown into an every down role (or the player he was drafted to be) but his work in the run game is that of a person you can count on in a teams base package. He’s earned a +3.9 grade in this regard over the past two years with 8 special teams tackles over the period. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/03/12/2014-free-agency-live-blog-day-2/
  21. AAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Chris Williams is the worst offensive lineman I've ever seen. Leave it to the Bills to sign a guy to a cap crippling deal that couldn't block Oscar Pistorias without his legs. Classic Bills. Another 45 years of finishing in last place, here we come.
  22. Agreed. C. Williams may be terrible. I have no idea. All I'm saying is that when a guy as we'll respected as Bill Polian gives him a pretty decent grade, that needs to be given some consideration. But personally I have no idea what will happen. Just kind of taking a wait and see approach with a little optimism. It's also because I really think it's largely irrelevant. Just need EJ to improve. But I get that we can't just sit here and hope that happens. We need other players.
  23. Well, it's Polian and three NFL analysts that put together the rankings. At least Polian has been there and been successful. Not sure how that can be discounted in favor of armchair GMs and twitter trolls.
